UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted a cultural performance presented by students participating in the Independent Student Exchange Program (Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka, or PMM) 3 in 2023. The cultural event, themed “Diversity of Traditional Dances and Local Cultural Wisdom,” took place at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Thursday evening (8/12/2023).
The Coordinator of the PMM Program at UNS, Dr. Emmy Latifah, S.H., M.H., expressed gratitude for the students’ total dedication to the PMM program. “The purpose of this event is to introduce the local culture of each PMM student’s region by showcasing various regional dances and cultures. The event also marks the end of the PMM 3 activities and the completion of the semester-long study program,” Dr. Emmy explained.
Dr. Emmy added that the 2023 PMM Program is the third exchange program of its kind. “For Law Faculty students this year, there are 193 participants from 20 provinces representing 21 universities, both public and private. These PMM 3 students will return around January 6-8, 2024,” Dr. Emmy said.

The cultural performance was inaugurated by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at UNS, represented by the Coordinator of the Academic Reputation & Student Affairs Division, Marieti Debyora Gardiana, S.Si. She expressed that PMM UNS students not only learn academic subjects in their study programs but also immerse themselves in Javanese culture and various cuisines.
“We hope that PMM 3 students can return to UNS for further studies at the master’s or doctoral level or collaborate on research with UNS lecturers after becoming lecturers at their respective universities,” Gardiana stated.
She also emphasized the importance for PMM students to remember UNS and not forget their experiences, hoping that what they gained during their studies at UNS would be beneficial for their future endeavors. HUMAS UNS
