UNS — Entrepreneurship Development Center (PPKwu) Team Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held assistance for the optimization of urban farming to Women Farmers Group in Joyotakan, Surakarta.
Besides being proof of UNS faculty members’ active role in assisting the local community, the program was held as a response to the lack of knowledge in the correct agricultural method implemented by the community.
PPKwu Team LPPM UNS consists of Dr. Joko Sutrisno as team leader, Dr. Eddy Triharyanto, and Dr. Lv Ratna Devi Sakuntalawati as members focus the program on the utilization of lands and available infrastructure.
“The lack of knowledge causes the built infrastructure from many parties, including the government is ineffective. Therefore, assistance is needed to improve the knowledge and skills in agricultural cultivation,” Dr. Joko explained in his official statement, Wednesday (10/11/2021).
To maximize the program, PPKwu team divide participants into two classes. In-class training on agricultural cultivation and out-class training on medicinal plants cultivation methods. The program also includes the repair of glasshouses as a cultivation facility. Dr. Joko hoped that the program could benefit local people. The local people appreciated the program because it improved their skills and knowledge in medicinal plants cultivation. Humas UNS
