UNS – Students of the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta again made achievements at the national level. Recently, Anisa Novita Sari, Devinda Annisa Laily, and Dewi Retno Ningrum won 3rd place architecture competition in The 6th Diploma Civil and Architecture Scientific Competition (DISCO).
This competition was organized by Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) at the end of May 2023. Anisa Novita Sari and her team succeeded in eliminating dozens of participants to qualify to become finalists in this competition. When her team was announced to have won third place, she admitted that she was very happy and proud.
“We feel very happy and proud because it is the first time for us to win in a competition. Moreover, we can bring the UNS alma mater to the podium. Besides, we also gained a lot of knowledge and experience during the competition process up to the presentation stage,” Anisa explained as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id, Thursday (22/6/2023).
The three students, who are currently in their sixth semester, brought up the idea of building a public healing space. It is a park with a percentage of closed buildings of 15-20% to respond to burnout issues.
“Our team uses an organic architectural approach by taking burnout (main), environmental, millennial, and socio-economic (additional) issues into account. We named our public healing space as The Serenity, which is a nature-based public healing space. The building design represents natural forms and architectural locality, such as following the path of growing vegetation, village buildings, and almost all of the materials use organic material in the form of bamboo,” she explained.
Through this achievement, they hope that they can continue to learn through other competitions and be able to achieve achievements in subsequent events. “We also hope that we can continue to carry the good name of the UNS alma mater in various competitive achievements and make the UNS campus proud. Hopefully in the future we will continue to receive support, both from the faculty and the university,” she concluded. Humas UNS
