UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, inaugurated the faculty members and academic staff with functional positions in UNS. The inauguration and oath-taking ceremony was held online and offline from the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Friday (28/1/2022).
The inauguration and oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Vice-Rectors and Directors in UNS. The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, mentioned in his remark that 2022 would become the third stage of the five pillars policy to achieve World Class University. The structural approach should be left behind to meet the current and future development.
“UNS with its status as an autonomous university with wider autonomy should be supported by human resources with appropriate qualities that could face the continuously changing and hard to predict future. Working with distinct expertise becomes a need that must be met to improve PTNBH UNS into a more dynamic performance,” Prof. Jamal explained.
Prof. Jamal is fully aware that implementing programs and activities in the early transitional period into PTNBH was a heavy task considering the demands to change staff’s mindset to work with a new attitude and think innovatively and creatively. “Therefore, to become a person trusted to lead this university, I need to take a wise step, awaken enthusiasm, trust, belief, and optimism of all UNS staff to work together in implementing the programs and activities as planned,” he added.
Prof. Jamal also mentioned that it is the time to face all changes, to have new awareness, and adaptability. He encourages all staff that a functional position is a future position because staff will develop collaborative ability with other positions although their performance will be individual. Therefore, the Rector hoped that the functional officers could build synergy and work together in a dynamic, productive, and serving the university.
“To 116 faculty members receiving Academic Functional Position today, I hope you could be successful as a teacher with a strong theory and skilled in research and development. Become a teacher that could inspire and motivate your fellows and students through productivity in creating scientific works published in various accredited international journals. For those with a Master’s education, I encourage you to continue your study into a Doctoral degree, and I also hope you could prepare yourself to achieve a Professorship position. Currently, UNS is planning for Professorship acceleration program to support the target as a World Class University,” Prof. Jamal stated.
To 15 academic staff receiving similar positions, Prof. Jamal hoped that they could continue improving their quality and scientific capacity, skills, expertise, and performance to improve the quality of services for the community. Humas UNS
