The Head of the UNS Council of Professors (DP), Prof. Drs. Suranto, M.Sc., Ph.D., saw the inauguration of the five new UNS professors as something special. This was because this momentum is approaching the 47th Dies Natalis UNS. This moment was extraordinary for Prof. Suranto, who had seen the journey of the five new UNS professors.

“I am proud and very happy with the five professors who were inaugurated. Not only academically, but also they are really forged and prepared mentally, academically and psychologically,” Prof. suranto said.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., also said that this inauguration was a sweet gift. This further strengthens UNS’ new optimism to pursue the target of 10% of professors.

The number of professors is an important indicator for assessing the quality of a tertiary institution. The addition of professors and doctorates at UNS will greatly improve the quality and quantity of research and/or publications. This is because the success of a lecturer in achieving the title of professor cannot be separated from the role of their research and publication performance.

Prof. Jamal is confident and believes in the scientific capacity of every UNS Professor. He said that they will be able to have a big social role in society and be able to side by side by building international networks and taking part on the global stage.

“Professors who work productively through various quality studies and research are believed to be able to provide strategic solutions for solving societal problems, as well as being able to increase the UNS index at the international level,” Prof. Jamal said.

Finally, Prof. Jamal advised the new UNS professors to be productive in guiding their students and junior lecturers. UNS professors are asked not to become relaxed after obtaining a professorship, moreover make it a springboard for individual interests.

“There is a government mandate to provide professorships. It contains a message that the presence of professors as intellectuals is to provide solutions and not actually be part of the problem,” he concluded. Humas UNS
