UNS — The Community Service Program P2M Research Group Grant (Hibah Group Riset – HGR) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta of 2020 held an event in Mount Merbabu National Park. The activity was the Strengthening the Capacity of Supplier Data for Mount Merbabu National Park through Identification and Ecological Census Training. The activity was conducted for field functional staff of Mount Merbabu National Park Office and several academicians from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS for 30 participants.
“The community service activity is a series of HGR UNS program from the Biology Education Program FKIP UNS which has been running this year regarding the Study of Population and Habitat Characteristics of Javan Surili Presbytis fredericae,” Puguh explained.
In the first day, Tuesday (1/9/2020) a class session was held for the Identification of Plants through Morphological Characters and Compilation of Scientific Writing and Publications delivered by Dr. Muzzazinah, M. Si and Nurmiyati, S. Pd, M. Si. The event was followed by material delivered by Mount Merbabu National Park members, Johan Setiawan, S. Hut, M. Sc. on the Report of Research, Survey and Monitoring Activity. On the second day, Wednesday (2/9/2020) class session on Vegetation Analysis of Mount Merbabu National Park with PCQ and LCC Methods delivered by Alanindra Saputra, S. Pd, M. Sc. The material on Animal Ecology and Animal Community Analysis with PAST was also delivered by Puguh Karyanto, S. Si, M. Si, Ph.D.
The research team is led by Puguh Karyanto, S. Si, M. Si, Ph.D and covers two research topics, Javanese Surili Study and Its Floristic Habitat. During the event, participants were enthusiastic in joining the training. The materials delivered also support the ranger in Mount Merbabu National Park to perform their duties. With this event, Puguh conveyed his gratitude for the collaboration between the institutions in the future, he wished that there will be more events in the future. Humas UNS
