UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., visited France for the 12th Joint Working Group (JWG) on Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship that will be held on 28-29 June 2022 in Valenciennes, France.

The forum discussed several partnership points between universities in Indonesia and France. The established partnership will be implemented in higher education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. “The event was opened directly by the French Minister of Higher Education and Research at the University of Polytechnique Hauters-De-France-(UPHF),” said Prof. Jamal.

Strengthen Universities’ Partnership, UNS Rector Visits France

Not alone, Prof. Jamal traveled to France alongside other representatives from Indonesia, including the Director-General of Higher Education Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Prof. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D. He stated that collaboration in the research and innovation field needs to get developed. Research and innovation development can boost university graduates’ competitiveness. “Our universities’ graduates need to be closer to the business and industrial world, thus, research and innovation need to be improved,” he explained.

Other than Prof. Nizam, the Head of the Indonesian Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, M.Sc., the Indonesian Education and Culture Attaché for France, Prof. Warsito, Secretary of the Dirjendiktiristek, Prof. Tjitjik Sri Tjahjandarie, as well as the Director of Research and Community Service, Prof. Teuku Faisal Fathani, were also present at The 12th Joint Working Group (JWG) on Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

Currently, several Indonesian universities have established partnerships with universities in France. At least 10 (ten) universities have established partnerships with France, with a total of 587 cooperation documents.

Strengthen Universities’ Partnership, UNS Rector Visits France

UNS is one of the universities that has established partnerships with several campuses in France. There are currently 17 collaborations that have been carried out by UNS with campuses in France.

Not only strengthening partnership collaboration, the participants at this forum also exchanged various materials and participated in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship discussion. The discussion is expected to provide a reference for the respective universities to improve the quality of their education. Humas UNS
