UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a press conference following the death of a UNS student in the Training of Student Regiment (Menwa) UNS on Sunday (24/10/2021). The press release was held online and offline on Tuesday (26/10/2021) from Ruang Sidang 2 dr. Prakosa Building UNS.

UNS was represented by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, and the Director of Academic Reputation and Student Affairs UNS, Dr. Sutanto. Prof. Ahmad Yunus offered his condolences over the death of Gilang Endi Saputra, a student of the Diploma Program Health and Company Hygiene and Work Safety (K3) of Vocational School (SV) UNS. The university has kept coordinated with the family and police in handling the incident.

“On Sunday evening, we delivered the body to the family. Monday morning (25/10/2021), with the policy, we met the family, especially his mother and father, and the family members agreed for an autopsy at the Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) dr. Moewardi Surakarta. Around 10.00, we bought the body from Karangpandan to Moewardi. (After) arriving there, the autopsy was performed by a physician from Moewardi and forensic doctor from Bhayangkara Polri,” Prof. Yunus explained.

After the Ashar prayer on Monday (25/10/2021), after the autopsy, the body was cleaned by the hospital team and delivered to the family. The university provided continuous assistance until the funeral was completed.

“The results of the autopsy are waiting from the policy report. UNS handed all conclusions of the incident to the official report from the police. Whether it is an accident or an element of alleged violence,” Prof. Yunus added.

Dr. Sutanto, who also attended the press conference, stated that UNS and the police have processed the crime scene (TKP) in the campus and Jurug bridge. All of the 21 managing committees in the event were also had been questioned by the police.

“The managing committee, 21 students, seniors, and supervisor, all had been questioned. UNS fully handed all the investigation processes to the authority,” Dr. Sutanto explained. HUMAS UNS
