UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a shadow puppet (Wayang Kulit) performance on Thursday (3/2/2022). This performance is a collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), and the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD), and was conducted at Padepokan Aji Tirta Wening (ATW) Pengging, Boyolali. Supported by Three Faculties Collaboration, UNS Hosted Wayang Kulit Performance

Prof. Jamal appreciated this Wayang Kulit Performance and invited all UNS academic members to take a role in advancing regional culture. “Let’s welcome UNS anniversary together by preserving culture. In the future, hopefully, cultural performances can be held every month, for instance at Argo Budaya or Javanologi. Therefore, UNS will not only advance in science and technology but also take roles in preserving Indonesian culture,” said Prof. Jamal.

Meanwhile, Prof. Djoko, as the event host, said that this activity was initiated during a casual exchange at Taman FEB Jaya. “Back then, we were talking about the cultural agenda, and then we agreed to collaborate for this event. Indeed, uniting three faculties in one event is not easy,” said Prof. Djoko.

The arch that will be performed will also be painted by artists concurrently with the stage’s progress. The painters invited to the event were Sigit Purnomo Adi, Jazuli A Moenib, I Gusti Ngurah Tri Marutama, and Susdiyantoro. At the same time, an explanation of the arch will be presented by the Dean of FIB UNS, Prof. Warto.

“In this cultural event, Ki Warseno will be performed 4 (four) Catur Darmo, which will be captured in a painting by FSRD painters. Then, the Dean of FIB will describe the Pengging with the revelation of Catur Darmo,” he added.

The Dean of FEB UNS hopes for this event to be a starting point in establishing a good civilization. Hence, the community can understand how to maintain a good relationship with God, nature, and fellow human beings. Humas UNS
