UNS — The Vocational School (SV) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta collaborated with PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas in holding a Knowledge Sharing Session. This seminar activity was initiated by two SV UNS study programs, namely the D-3 Business Management study program and the D-3 Finance and Banking study program. The seminar participants were UNS students and the general public.

The Knowledge Sharing Session was held at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Friday (4/8/2023). The event featured the CEO of PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Mr. Tae Yong Shim, as the main speaker. The seminar was guided by Lintang Ayuninggar, S.E., M.Sc., who is also the Head of the D-3 Finance and Banking Study Program.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of SV UNS, Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M.Acc., Ak., said that this seminar is a suitable activity for students and the public who want to learn about financial management, especially for beginners. Santoso highlighted the hedonistic lifestyle among young people. He expressed concern that such a lifestyle might reduce the younger generation’s opportunities to have assets in the future.

Therefore, he emphasized that financial literacy and wise financial management are essential practices to be adopted from an early age. This can also help individuals avoid falling into fraudulent investment practices.

“Hence, financial management and financial literacy are crucial so that we all can understand the importance of investment and know how to invest safely, wisely, and in a way that leads to prosperity,” Santoso said.

The theme “Financial Planning for Beginner” was highlighted in the Knowledge Sharing Session. The seminar featured three speakers in total: CEO of PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Mr. Tae Yong Shim; Head of Corporate Secretary of PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Ivonne Kaharu; and Head of Fund Service PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Francisca Gerungan.

PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas is a subsidiary of Mirae Asset Financial Group based in South Korea. As a leading financial institution in South Korea, they ensure that all investment activities are conducted based on reasonable principles and the expertise accumulated from extensive investment experience worldwide.

This seminar explained that individuals can invest in various types of assets, one of which is through mutual funds. Its paperless nature is claimed to be a significant advantage of this type of investment.

A healthy asset portfolio will grow and benefit investors. In this session, Mr. Shim also emphasized that Mirae Asset Sekuritas prioritizes continuous innovation.

“We work hard to provide our clients with higher value and help create a dynamic and enthusiastic society through investment,” Mr. Shim said. Humas UNS
