Through this Business Forum discussion, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, as the Rector of UNS, hopes that the entire UNS academic members can prepare themselves to build Indonesia’s economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic crisis that has been occurred for almost 2 (two) years has affected several sectors, including the economic sector. Nevertheless, a breath of fresh air was delivered by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) with a report on Indonesia’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 by 7.07%. This shows that Indonesia’s economic recovery is in progress.

To support and encourage Indonesia’s economic recovery, members of IKA UNS share their ideas to assist the UNS stakeholders in contributing to restore the Indonesian economy through entrepreneurship development.

Entrepreneurship development is necessary for the national economy. A country will flourish when its entrepreneur ratio reaches more than 10%. Therefore, higher education institutions are the right place to create young entrepreneurs.

Higher education institutions can encourage new entrepreneurs through the provision of Entrepreneurship courses. Tung Desem Waringin, one of the UNS alumni who became a well-known motivator and marketing expert in Indonesia, said that the Entrepreneurship course is essential for students.

“In fact, this course also needs to be given to cross departments students. Students of the Faculty of Medicine also need to learn about entrepreneurship,” said Tung Desem.

Previously, Tung Desem Waringin emphasized that an Entrepreneurship course is different from Business Science. One of his children had the opportunity to study entrepreneurship at a reputable university. Meanwhile, his other child had the opportunity to study Business Science, which prompted Tung Desem Waringin to understand the difference between the two fields of knowledge.

“Entrepreneurship learns about how to find opportunities, turning opportunities into proposals, collecting data, team building, and ideas execution. This is what entrepreneurship means in the true sense,” added Tung Desem Waringin.

Meanwhile, business science discusses an entirely different topic related to business management, such as operation, human resources, and marketing.

 “When a business is established, then, it can be handed to those studying business to be managed,” said Tung Desem.

By providing Entrepreneurship courses, higher education institutions can nurture entrepreneurial spirit to accelerate Indonesia’s economic recovery post-Covid-19 pandemic. Similar notions were conveyed by Hariyadi Sukamdani, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo). Hariyadi said that there is an opportunity for entrepreneurial development in Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“To take this opportunity, the young generation with excellent capacity at collaboration and partnership can establish networking with other sectors,” said Hariyadi.

Similar collaborations can be established between UNS and fellow entrepreneurs as liaisons. For example, by establishing consulting institutions initiated by the campus. Humas UNS

The government of Indonesia, through its Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, extends the implementation of leveled Restriction on Community Activity Policy (PPKM), effective from 5-18 October 2021. At the same time, the education sector can taste the relaxation with the implementation application permits for conducting a Face-to-Face Learning Simulation and Limited Face-to-Face Learning (Limited PTM). As reported on the https://jatengprov.go.id/ webpage, the Secretary of the Education and Culture Office in Central Java Province, Suyanta, states that the PTM policy is based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri), and the Instruction of the Governor of Central Java Number 10 of 2021 on the Implementation of Level 4, Level 3, and Level 2 Community Activities Restrictions (PPKM) for Corona Virus Disease Handling in Central Java Province. In term of education, schools located at districts/cities with level 4 restriction will not be allowed to hold PTM (learning activities remains conducted virtually), while for those located in districts/cities with level 2 and level 3 restriction, are welcome to implement a limited PTM.

The threat of Covid-19 variants is still haunting the community, requiring limited schools to directly initiates a limited PTM. However, a school must go through the licensing and simulation process to assess its readiness, requirements that must be met, and final evaluation following the PTM simulation. The school must obtain permits from students’ parents, Health Center permission, letter of permission from the District Covid Task Force, and recommendations letter submission from the District/City Education Office, as well as verification from the Regional Education Office.

If all permits have been approved, then the education unit can conduct a PTM Simulation that lasts for two weeks under the following provisions, (1) the Education Unit is only allowed to hold a PTM Simulation with a maximum of four student groups with a maximum number of students per group of 18 people. (2) Maximum learning period of 30 minutes within 1 hour of learning, or 4 hours of learning in a day. (3) Minimum distancing set in 1 classroom is set at least 1.5 meters. (4) After finishing the lecture, the student must directly go home with no extra activities, and break periods are allowed. (5) Students must be in good health. (6) Students must get permission from their parents. (7) Face-to-face meeting is recommended to students who are live around the school area, within a maximum distance of 7 Km from school, or have the ability to use their own transportation vehicle to travel to school.

School’s readiness in conducting PTM simulation and PTM is limited because of facilities and infrastructure conditions that must be fulfilled by the school. Each Education Unit must be ready to implement PTM Simulation Standard Operation and Procedure (SOP). Schools must prepare facilities and infrastructure in accordance with the 5M health protocol standards.

Moreover, aside from the facilities and infrastructure preparation within the health protocol standards, the school needs to prepare innovative learning methods that allow students to join the lecture from school or home. The initiative in hybrid learning and blended learning systems were put forward in every Education Unit. Indeed, each Education Unit strives to implement and accommodate these two learning systems to familiarize students in adapting to new habits during this ongoing pandemic situation.

As quoted from Sevima.com, hybrid learning is a learning system that combines various approaches, namely face-to-face, computer-based, and online-based learning (internet and mobile). Meanwhile, blended learning is basically achieved by combining the advantages of two learning methods, face-to-face and virtual learning. Blended learning can also be defined as a combination of face-to-face and online learning but more focused on the social interaction element. Hybrid learning and blended learning can be an alternative in combining the face-to-face learning modes in school and online learning.

This trending learning system is indeed proven to be a powerful solution for continuous control on students learning activities, which can also reduce student boredom and learning loss. This method is considered more effective and efficient while at the same time can enhance students’ and educators’ digital skills.

Technically, this hybrid learning method allows 50 percent of students to attend a face-to-face lecture. For example, if there are 36 students in the class, then only 18 students are allowed to participate in the face-to-face study. The rest (the other 18 students) are required to join the lecture virtually from their homes, at the same time as the scheduled face-to-face lecture, in accordance with the schedule given by the school.

Similar to a normal lecture, teachers are also obliged to prepare syllabuses and lesson plans. This syllabus and lesson can be designed in blended patterns to accommodate both learning channels. The material delivered in the face-to-face lecture can also be accessed by students through various distance learning platforms available. Through these methods, students are expected to understand the material delivered by the teacher easily and are not bounded by the media and time. Educational units or teachers can take advantage of online interaction facilities with learning management systems (LMS), for instance, Google Meet, Zoom Meeting, Microsoft Teams, Free Conference Call (FCC), and other learning media. Active interaction between teachers and students is expected to re-establish effective and efficient teaching and learning processes.

This hybrid learning model does offer solutions and has become a new trend in the education sector. However, there are still risks that must be considered. The interaction between students in school is one of the main concerns. Therefore, each of the teachers or education personnel must strictly enforce the 5M health protocols to the students. After joining a face-to-face lecture at school, students must go straight home and immediately take care of their cleanliness. Meanwhile, teachers can monitor students’ location by asking students to share location through WhatsApp messaging service.

Students who are joining the virtual lecture session from their home according to the schedule set along with the face-to-face lecture at school will still encounter obstacles related to internet quotas or less stable internet networks. Therefore, the hybrid method is may not be possible, as the number of students who are expected to join the online learning is not in accordance with the expected condition.

However, all the risks and obstacles will only become a small area of improvement if the system is implemented with high awareness and strict health protocol discipline. The hybrid method can be the effort to control students’ learning loss, thus, students will not lose certain knowledge and skills that will certainly lead to the decline of the academic process. Distance Learning (PJJ) is, indeed, not fully effective yet, and it creates a learning-lost for the students. Good cooperation by involving parents, teachers, and the education unit environment becomes an important part of the success of student education because education is a shared responsibility. (***)

Wahyu Budi, as Berjo Village Secretary and alumnus of FP UNS, mentioned in his opening remark that this program aims to increase awareness of farmers’ works by commemorating National Farmer Day on 24 September. Wahyu also introduced Salman Dzulfikar as the founder of SocioFarm and Ardi Wardianto as the founder of Agrowakaf; both are UNS students.

Under a strict health protocol, the event was attended by 80 people who received training on organic fertilizer production from household wastes and how to apply the fertilizer in the polybag. Before practicing what they learned, Ir. Joko Sutrisno, as the speaker, suggested the participants move into organic products.

“We have consumed a large number of chemical products in our foods; it is time (for us) to go back to organic products,” Ir. Joko explained.

Even though the weather was cloudy and drizzling, participants were not discouraged from learning about cultivation and harvest and felt how farmers live. Participants also had an opportunity to cultivate using two methods, using the polybag method and directly on the ground. The coordinator prepared lentils, chili, eggplant, and mustard seeds for the program.

Participants also received a coupon to purchase from a ready-to-harvest field from the coordinator. They got a turn to visit tomato, chili, lentils, and mustard fields and were asked to help farmers’ jobs to harvest the plants. Participants also experienced ‘ngirim’, traditional catering provided for farmers. This program was concluded with a mancakrida. Humas UNS

The Head of PSIK, Prof. Dr. Soetrisno, dr., Sp.OG(K)., in his remark, mentioned this webinar topic relevance considering the uncertainty on the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. “This is a positive contribution from our alumni in sharing the knowledge on Covid-19,” Prof. Soetrisno stated.

The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), added that this event is needed and should be held continuously. He also mentioned that IKA PSIK UNS has a role and contribution in overseeing academic activities on campus. “Because alumni position is to bridge their juniors who are studying with the management, both in program and faculty,” Prof. Reviono explained. The Dean also appreciated this event and mentioned that the topics could develop knowledge and ease the negative impact of the pandemic.

The webinar was divided into two sessions; the first session speakers were alumni and PSIK FK UNS students with Dr. dr. Trisulo Wasyanto, Sp.JP(K), FIHA, FAPSC, FAsCC., as the moderator. The speakers in this session are dr. Adji Suwandono, S.H., Sp.F., who discussed the “Medical Ethics”, Prof. Dr. dr. Bambang Purwanto, Sp.PD-KGH, FINASIM with “Physical Acctivities and Stress Management in Covid-19 Pandemic”, and Dr. dr. Harsini, Sp.P(K), FISR, MARS who discussed “Covid-19 Management”.

In the discussion session, Dr. dr. Harsini, Sp.P(K) emphasized that the participants should always maintain the health protocols even after being vaccinated. This reminder was shared considering the euphoria in the community after getting vaccinated that makes them neglect the health protocols. While according to Dr. dr. Harsini, Sp.P(K)., Covid-19 variant Mu is considered to be more vicious than delta and lambda variants.

“The community should be emphasized that vaccine does not prevent Covid. It is to reduce the severity of infection. That is what we should emphasize because the community who got the vaccines often neglect their health protocols. We see everywhere they do not wear a mask. That is what we need to remind the community,” Dr. dr. Harsini, Sp.P(K)., emphasized.

The second session of the webinar was moderated by Dr. dr. Lilik Wijayanti M.Kes. In this session, the speakers are Dr. dr. M. Adrianes Bachnas, Sp.OG(K), who delivered materials on “Covid-19 Effect on Pregnancy and Fetus,” and dr. Brigitte Rina Aninda Sidharta, Sp.PK., discussed “The Role of Laboratory Examination on Covid-19”. Humas UNS

The alumnus of the Diploma Program (D3) in Public Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS shared her university life with the uns.ac.id team on Tuesday (16/2/2021). Nicknamed Eliz, she has started her career as a radio announcer and singer when enrolled in UNS in 2009. Eliz shared that during her study, she had no time for extracurricular due to her jobs. “But I really enjoyed my college time,” she said.

During her study, she won Putri Solo 2 in 2010, and the following year, she was appointed as Duta Bahasa Jawa Tengah (Central Java Language Ambassador). For her achievements, she represented Central Java to compete at the national level, and for the first time, Central Java’s representatives, Eliz and Hanifan Fuadi, student of English Language and Literature UNS, won first place in National Language Ambassador.

After graduated from UNS, Eliz started her career as a master of ceremony in the formal events and festivals in Solo, which she still performs to this day. She is dubbed as President’s Master of Ceremony (MC) because she often took the role in events around Solo attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

She also participated in an Indonesian tour with the Indonesian Creative Economic Agency (Badan Ekonomi Kreatif Indonesia – Bekraf), which now merged into the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economic of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenparekraf RI). In 2019, she was selected as the mascot of Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA), which she admitted was a fascinating experience for her. She was chosen after creating her first song, Rindu Solo (Missing Solo) that closely represents the city.

“Moreover, I am Putri Solo, who never left the city. I went to university in Solo, and I wrote the songs people love,” she said.

Not long after, her first creation was followed by the next song, Semerdu Lokananta (As Sweet as Lokananta) created to celebrate Studio Lokananta’s anniversary. Eliz’s works reflected her love for Solo, and she thinks that her city is the best city she ever lived in. “I want to share a sense of pride and love to this city through my songs. With all treasures, magics, and beauty in the city, including Lokananta,” she explained.

In Solo’s 276^th anniversary, she hopes that the young generation, especially UNS students, can be braver, tougher, has a higher willingness to fight, always striving, and always work on their strength for a positive cause. She added that she hopes students can implement what they learn to benefit others, their city, and even the nation.

Eliz concluding the interview with her live motto: I want and I can. She believes that these words will enable young people to achieve a bright future. “When you face difficulties, for any opportunities for your, always say I want, I can, because these magic words will bring you to start and learn, then to do something, do not only silent, but you need to do something, you need to do much,” she concluded. Aldy Fariz Achsanta, an alumnus of Economic and Business Faculty Universitas Sebelas Maret (FEB UNS) Surakarta batch 2010, has been accepted and given a scholarship by Universite de Limoges, France. Aldy gets a full scholarship in a form of 3 years contract doctoral. Andy who was born in Solo 24 years ago, soon is going to have his Ph.D. degree although he is still relatively young.

After graduating from his bachelor degree at Management Department of FEB UNS by finance concentration 2014, Aldy became a research assistant at Research Group of Governance, Banking, and Finance FEB UNS. The following year, Aldy got a master scholarship in banking and finance major from Universite de Limoges. After finishing his master, he applied doctoral scholarship to the same university and was accepted.

His achievement is the result of his good competence and capability. Besides, it is also the outcome of an intensive cooperation between FEB UNS and LAPE Research Center Universite de Limoges which has been running since 2010 and is managed by Irwan Trinugroho, FEB UNS lecturer. LAPE Research Center is a research center focusing in the field of banking and finance. It is now placed in the 90^th position as banking and finance research institution by IDEAS REPEC and has produced scientific publications attached in reputable international journals. There is another alumnus of FEB UNS, Andre Novado, who also gets a master scholarship at the same college.

The opportunities of getting master and doctoral scholarship prove that UNS has competent graduates which is in line with its vision to be world class university (WCU).[irwan]
