The UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, states that UNS was honored to host the Guest Lecture under a collaboration with Boeing. This event is expected to motivate UNS students, alumni, and academic staff to be more enthusiastic in their careers. “It is an honor for us to be associated with Boeing Company, a top multinational company included in the top 500 fortune companies in the world. We are also very proud of Mrs. Veronika, an alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS who is now working at Boeing,” said Prof. Jamal.

In line with Prof. Jamal, Steve Lakeway, Country Manager of PT Boeing Indonesia, is also honored to collaborate with UNS. Steve hopes that there will be UNS graduates who can follow Veronika to work at Boeing in the future.

“Whatever your major is, we all have the opportunities to work at Boeing. Not only from the engineering department but we also need employees with various majors. Please check job opportunities at Boeing. It is okay if you do not have a passion for aviation, but once you get into Boeing, you will definitely find that passion,” said Steve.

The Dean of FISIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, M.Sc., states that she was very proud that an alumnus of FISIP UNS could be employed in an international company. Moreover, the field of work that Veronika is engaged in is widely known as the men’s field of work.

“Mbak Vero has proven that women can be leaders at the international level, especially in the field of technology where many men are involved. I feel proud of Mbak Veronika’s achievements. Hopefully, this can encourage younger students or alumni to pursue a career abroad,” said Prof. Ismi.

For almost 2.5 hours, Veronika Andrews recounted her journey to becoming a Boeing employee. Veronika, who started her career as a manager at an international hotel, has made her way through a series of twists and turns until she was finally accepted at Boeing. Veronika advised the participants to be courageous in setting dreams and be excited to make those dreams come true.

“Don’t give up on your dreams just because of doubts and fears. If you give up in a dream, how do you face reality? Hang your dreams high,” said Veronika. Humas UNS

Sajidan, M.Si., the Director of International Operation and Admission Bangor University, Mr. Sam Jackson-Royle, and the Dean of Business School Bangor University, Prof. Bruce Vanstone.

In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal thanked Bangor University for the collaboration between the two universities. He mentioned that partnership with global universities is vital, especially in improving UNS educational quality to meet international standards.

“It is an honor for us to have a partnership with Bangor University, UK. A university with strong research and innovation,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The agreement for partnership will also open a great opportunity for collaboration of research between the two higher education institutions that will expand and improve UNS scientific research. UNS greatly appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with Bangor University, and Prof. Jamal hoped that there would be a stronger and longer collaboration with Bangor University.

Sam Jackson-Royle emphasized that institutional partnership always plays an important part for Bangor University because it is related to the improvement in the academic excellence of a university. He also explained that Bangor University’s research competence had been used to contribute to the economic, social, and cultural sectors. Both universities, according to him, need to walk together to be focused on shaping graduates with optimum skills that are expected to affect both the graduates and their surrounding environment.

“We hoped to welcome students from UNS and staff to enjoy (our university) and to welcome (their) participation in the mobility program,” Sam Jackson-Royle stated. Humas UNS

The partnership that will run for five years covers the academic fields through student exchange, guest lectures, research, and webinar. The ceremony was also attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, who provided an opening remark and appreciated the collaboration.

“This collaboration aims to improve education quality in both universities. Research collaboration among the universities is vital to balance the research condition. Through UNS PTN-BH status, UNS is committed to continuing its efforts to improve the research and science quality to the international level,” Prof. Jamal stated.

He hoped that this collaboration could create academic events that support students’ needs, such as summer school, conferences, student exchange, and other activities.

“Hopefully, in the next five years, there will be many collaborative events between UNS and Hamad Bin Khalifa University,” he added.

The Dean of the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, hoped that this collaboration could improve Islamic finance research in the College of Islamic Studies.

“This is a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to improve the research. We hope to continue various studies at local and global levels,” Dr. Emad El-Din Shahin hoped. Humas UNS

Harjana, M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. At the same time, STP was represented by Yudit Cahyantoro, ST., MT., as the Director of Solo Techno Park and Ir. Zubaidi, MM who represented the Chairman of Bappeda Kota Surakarta.

In his remark, Prof. Sajidan stated that UNS is one of the partners in the development of STP that was initiated during Ir. Joko Widodo government in Surakarta. In the MBKM era, partnership with STP is vital to support UNS students who will spend at least 20 credits outside their campus.

The Vice-Rector also hoped that the products from MSMEs assisted by UNS could be exhibited in STP.

“Then (we could) create a curation and selected curators from UNS and STP, so (the products) can be sent to be exhibited in Europe (France). To facilitate the mobility of research products and students’ projects, we will open UNS-STP gate,” Prof. Sajidan explained. Humas UNS

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, and the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Prof. M. Agus Burhan, in a ceremony attended by vice-rectors and executive boards of both universities. In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal stated that he is delighted to establish a partnership with ISI Yogyakarta that has a close cultural resemblance with UNS. The Rector was also enthusiastic about the new collaboration to improve Higher Education Tridharma in education, research, and community service implementation.

This collaboration will synergize and optimize the use of resources from both universities to build a meaningful partnership. The partnership will also support the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program as mentioned by Prof. Jamal, “I am grateful to collaborate with ISI Yogyakarta; a great arts institute. Therefore, please allow my students to implement Higher Education Tridharma in ISI Yogyakarta through the MBKM program. If ISI Yogyakarta students want to learn in UNS, we also accept them with open arms,” he stated.

MBKM program is a program promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) that allows students to use their three semesters to develop their respective interests through various activities, such as intern, entrepreneurship, or learning at other national and international universities, designed to adjust university curriculum with the real workplace expectations.

The Rector of ISI Yogyakarta also welcomed this collaboration and stated that this is a momentum for UNS and ISI Yogyakarta to improve productivity in all fields. “This partnership is meaningful for UNS and ISI Yogyakarta productivity and development. Moreover, in connection to the MBKM program that encourages us to be productive and enrich our experiences in our particular fields. Students certainly need complete comprehension of their particular study and other fields of study. Relevance between our curriculum and the industrial world is needed,” Prof. Agus stated.

Further, Prof. Agus also hoped that this collaboration would increase research and publication from faculty members in UNS and ISI Yogyakarta. The collaboration also extended to the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) UNS and Faculty of Fine Arts (FSR) ISI Yogyakarta that covers inter-program collaboration, Higher Education Tridharma implementation, human resource management improvement, consultation and focuses group discussion (FGD), and students exchange between the universities. Evos Esports Indonesia was represented by the Director, Wesley Yiu. This collaboration started with PT. Evos Esports Indonesia and NusaTalent innovation created a digital-based student activity center known as Evos Experience Zone. Evos Experience Zone aims to improve student’s creativity and capability in academic and non-academic fields. Therefore, PT. Evos Esports Indonesia wanted to expand the collaboration with education institutions, including UNS.

The collaboration is expected to synergize the existing potential and optimize the resources from both parties to implement the Higher Education Tri Dharma and Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program. This collaboration will cover education, research, community service, MBKM implementation, Evos Experience Zone program implementation, and other fields agreed by both parties.

Hartman Harris as the Chief Business Officer PT. Evos Esports Indonesia stated that his company is committed to improving Indonesia’s ability amid the pandemic and digital-era development.

“We want to build and contribute for the young generation to develop relevant abilities and wide knowledge,” Hartman stated.

Prof. Sajidan appreciated the initiative collaboration between UNS and PT. Evos Esports Indonesia.

“This collaboration is an implementation of Higher Education Tri Dharma, education, research, community service, and Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka activities,” Prof. Sajidan stated.

UNS and PT. Evos Esports Indonesia agreed to collaborate for five years with an annual evaluation. Humas UNS
