<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/">UNS</a></strong> &#8212; Another wonderful national achievement was made by students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. This time around, the achievement was made by five students from the <a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/ilmu-komunikasi/">Communication Science</a> Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (<a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/">FISIP</a>) UNS under a production title ‘Afterglow Pictures,’ who succeeded in winning 2nd place in the Student Documentary category in Udayana Film Festival. The five are Aisyah Fithrotulhaq, Berlinrafa Nabila Kisworo, Ilman Abdurahman, Renata Listya Kusuma Wangi, and Syahrul Romadhon.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When interviewed by uns.ac.id on Monday (1/8/2022), Aisyah mentioned that the documentary film prepared for the competition entitled ‘Cengkerama’ and was encouraged by their interest toward the development of coffee shops and the phenomena of increased coffee consumption, which now become more casual. “Coffee is identical to free time and was usually consumed to release stress, especially during small talks and relaxing. Therefore, we are interested in covering the relationship between coffee consumption and social interaction,” she explained.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Aisyah also reveals that the film production for their creation is not easy. They faced various challenges, including time availability, lack of lighting as the filming was done during the evening following the site availability, the number of footage needed, and interview audio quality. “There was a time when we lost all the files saved in the camera, and we must film the footage again. But we are also happy because we have the opportunity to go sightseeing, meet with kind business owners, and learn a lot from them. They were so warm and welcoming during the filming,” explains Aisyah.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Aisyah admits that she did not expect their team managed to win 2nd place in the competition hosted by the Department of Interest and Talent, Student Executive Board of <a href="https://www.unud.ac.id/">Universitas Udayana</a> Bali, considering that there were 365 videos submitted under all categories, with a total of 258 participants. With this achievement, Aisyah hopes that the documentary film can give an insight into how small actions in our daily life can have a huge impact on supporting human life.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/">UNS</a></strong> &#8212; As an annual schedule, the Communication Science Program Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (<a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/">FISIP</a>) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held another guest lecture on Friday (1/4/2022) through the Zoom Meeting online platform.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The topic of this guest lecture was “Digital Communication Strategy” with two speakers, Riski Damastuti, S.Sos., M.A., a Faculty Member of Communication Science <a href="https://home.amikom.ac.id/">Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta</a> and a Digital Public Relation (PR) Professional, and Tika Susilowati, S.Psi., Founder of Padmarini Event Organizer and Advertising Professional.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Head of <a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/ilmu-komunikasi/">Communication Science Program</a>, Sri Hastjarjo, S.Sos., Ph.D., hoped that the guest lecture could enrich students’ knowledge, especially for those going to internship or Communication Internship Program (K3). “Hopefully, this guest lecture provides additional supplementary materials because the materials will be delivered by professionals with rich experiences,” he added.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1.jpeg"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="574" src="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-1024x574.jpeg" alt="Discussing Digital Communication Strategy, Communication Science Program FISIP UNS Held Another Guest Lecture" class="wp-image-35150" srcset="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-1024x574.jpeg 1024w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-300x168.jpeg 300w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-768x430.jpeg 768w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-1080x605.jpeg 1080w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-980x549.jpeg 980w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1-480x269.jpeg 480w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-1.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In her remark, the Vice-Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, Dra. Prahastiwi Utari, M.Si., Ph.D., highly appreciated the speakers for sharing their knowledge and experiences with the academic members attending the guest lecture. “My gratitude to both speakers for sharing their knowledge that will help students in Communication Science to have the up-to-date information, especially in digital communication strategy,” she stated.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2.jpeg"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="570" src="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-1024x570.jpeg" alt="Discussing Digital Communication Strategy, Communication Science Program FISIP UNS Held Another Guest Lecture" class="wp-image-35149" srcset="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-1024x570.jpeg 1024w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-300x167.jpeg 300w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-768x428.jpeg 768w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-1080x602.jpeg 1080w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-980x546.jpeg 980w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2-480x267.jpeg 480w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-2.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Riski Damastuti explained that digital communication strategy is not merely transforming from non-digital to digital but also integration. Research conducted by Jim Macnamara and friends on 1,306 Communication Professionals in the Asia Pacific in 2015-2017 reported that there are three vital communication channels for PR, social media and social networks, mobile communications, and press and media relations with online newspapers or magazines. “Digital PR is often considered as managing social media, while PR is holding an increasingly strategic position in the digital era,” she explained.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">She also shed light on the connection of big data availability for PR functions, in which PR is expected to be able to give meaning to extensive data available through the internet. In analyzing such enormous data, PR needs to capture the actor or people with significant influence, their sentiment, and their relations, which could be assessed using PESO model or the Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned, to reflect the company and their consumers’ relations. Another monitoring tool that is quite hyped is BRAND24 which allows PR to analyze hot topics by entering keywords.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3.jpeg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="575" src="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-1024x575.jpeg" alt="Discussing Digital Communication Strategy, Communication Science Program FISIP UNS Held Another Guest Lecture" class="wp-image-35148" srcset="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-1024x575.jpeg 1024w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-768x431.jpeg 768w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-1080x607.jpeg 1080w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-980x550.jpeg 980w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3-480x270.jpeg 480w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/fisip-uns-guest-lecture-digital-communication-strategy-3.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Tika Susilowati delivered materials on digital communication strategy in advertising. She shared her experiences in building her event organizer business amid the Covid-19 pandemic. it is quite a challenge for her considering many event organizing businesses were closed during the pandemic when she decided to build hers. Tika Susilowati said that collaboration among all related stakeholders is the key to surviving the pandemic. <strong>Humas UNS</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en">UNS</a> &#8212; The <a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/ilmu-komunikasi/">Communication Science</a> Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (<a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/">FISIP</a>) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a general lecture on ‘Apa Kabar Industri Televisi Hari Ini?’ (How the Television Industry is doing?) on Wednesday (23/3/2022) through the Zoom Meeting.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The general lecture was held to understand the current condition of the television industry in facing the disruption of industry 4.0 and media disruption. Agus Mulyadi, Director of Program and Development <a href="https://www.metrotvnews.com/">Metro TV</a>, was invited as a speaker at the event.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Head of Communication Science Program FISIP UNS, Sri Hastjarjo, Ph.D., mentioned in his remark that the general lecture is the first event as the implementation of the collaboration agreement between UNS and Metro TV. “There are many activities in the agreement, including expert lecture. So, our fellows from Metro TV will provide experts or professionals as speakers in providing lectures or discussion with faculty members, especially in television broadcast,” he explained.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Representing the faculty, the Vice-Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, Prahastiwi Utari, Ph.D., greatly appreciated the general lecture held by the Communication Science Program. The Vice-Dean hoped that the general lecture could inspire students in the <a href="https://fisip.uns.ac.id/ilmu-komunikasi/">Communication Science</a> Program and Diploma Program (D-3) in <a href="https://prodi.vokasi.uns.ac.id/komunikasi/">Applied Communication</a> to observe the current state of the television business in Indonesia. “Because this is a part of our dreams that need to be achieved,” she added.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-1024x576.jpg" alt="Discussing Current Television Industry, Communication Program UNS Held General Lecture" class="wp-image-34816" srcset="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-1080x608.jpg 1080w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-980x551.jpg 980w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1-480x270.jpg 480w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-1.jpg 1278w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In his material presentation, Agus Mulyadi stated that before discussing the strategies for television to survive in the current competition, it is vital to understand how television differs from the old television industry. The most striking difference lies in its broadcasting technology. Television used to broadcast using analog technology, which shifted to digital broadcast recently. “This year (Indonesia) has started the transition and stopped analog broadcast,” he explained.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><a href="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-1024x576.jpg" alt="Discussing Current Television Industry, Communication Program UNS Held General Lecture" class="wp-image-34815" srcset="https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-1080x608.jpg 1080w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-980x551.jpg 980w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2-480x270.jpg 480w, https://uns.ac.id/en/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/general-lecture-communication-uns-television-industry-2.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Discussing the current competition in the television business, Agus explained that television competes with other television companies and other cross platforms of media. In eleven cities, the internet is the most used media after television due to the increase in smartphone usage. Among the strategies implemented by television to compete in the current environment are developing monetization policies, building viewers’ interest, and understanding viewers’ needs. <strong>Humas UNS</strong></p>
