]]> UNS — Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted a Creative Leap Exhibition entitled “Denim Design and Upclying.” This exhibition was held for three days from Thursday (25/11/2021) to Saturday (27/11/2021) at the FSRD Mesen campus.

The Dean of FSRD UNS, Dr. Rahmanu Widayat, accompanied by the Vice-Dean for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs FSRD UNS, Dr. Nooryan Bahari, on Thursday (25/11/2021), delivers opening remarks for the event. On that occasion, the Dean of FSRD UNS, Dr. Rahmanu Widayat, highly appreciates the exhibition organization. “This creative leap is a competitive activity at the university level. The purpose of this activity is to provide added value on UNS Key Performance Indicators (KPI),” explained Dr. Rahman.

Dr. Rahmanu added that FSRD UNS collaborated with 23 Business and Industrial Worlds (DUDI) in Yogyakarta for the exhibition. “Previously, students were given an initial briefing by supervisors before entering DUDI for internships at DUDI. Afterward, the results of their internships program are displayed here,” added Dr. Rahman.

FSRD UNS Hosted the 2021 Creative Leap Exhibition

The products displayed in the Creative Leap Exhibition are picturesque. The works consist of FSRD students’ creations that implement the recycling concept. These unique products are, among others, the sunflower bag by Diyah Ayu Pratiwi, the cat house by Angginingtias Nurfatonah, the natural fiber bag by Chelia Vernanda, the daisy bag by Shakuntala Devi, the oil barrel chair by Fatiha Agsha Kamila, and many more. “They use the concept of recycling. Items that are no longer useful are transformed into valuable items and can benefit the community,” he said.

The Vice-Dean for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs of FSRD UNS, Dr. Nooryan Bahari, added that this Creative Leap Exhibition was intended for the public. “We want to display the students’ creations as for their internship program to the public. The public can give appreciation or input by attending this exhibition,” said Dr. Noorian.

Dr. Nooryan hopes that through this exhibition, students can introduce their artwork to the public. “Hence, students’ artworks are not only stored on campus but can also be used by the community,” said Dr. Noorian. Humas UNS
