The event welcomed DWP UNS members, faculty representatives, various UNS work units, and invited guests. The event served as a moment for mutual forgiveness after the holy month of Ramadan. It also carried the theme “Kartini’s Work and Thought in Today’s Context: Gender Equality and Inclusive Women’s Empowerment.”

Strengthening Fellowship and Celebrating Women’s Legacy

The program opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an. The participants then sang Indonesia Raya, the DWP March, and Ibu Kita Kartini. Afterwards, Dra. Sukiati Muhtar, M.Si., led the reading of the Halalbihalal pledge.

In her remarks, Widiastuti Hartono, DWP UNS Chairperson, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships among members and across UNS. Moreover, she highlighted the event as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among faculties and work units. These units have long supported joint initiatives.

“I would like to thank all board members and DWP UNS participants for being here today. I am especially grateful to our former Chairs, Ibu Ravik Karsidi and Ibu Jamal Wiwoho, for their presence. On behalf of myself and my family, I sincerely apologize for any past mistakes,” she stated.

Highlighting DWP Contributions and Future Empowerment

She also acknowledged the teamwork behind recent DWP activities.
“Alhamdulillah, our Ramadan programs went smoothly. This included the collective iftar, the Ramadan bazaar, and visits to Yayasan Lentera and Griya PMI. It is also the distribution of free iftar meals. All of these efforts were possible thanks to the dedication of DWP UNS members and management,” she added.

In commemoration of Kartini Day 2025, Widiastuti Hartono encouraged women to keep pursuing gender equality and inclusive empowerment. Through this theme, DWP UNS aims to inspire members to stay actively engaged in building a better society. It also encourages support for women in their continuous growth. The event concluded with a religious sermon (tausiah) delivered by Ustazah Dr. Ari Hikmawati, S.Ag., M.Pd. Her message reinforced the importance of compassion, unity, and progress, especially among women in today’s society.

Rector Expresses Support

Supporting the Nordic Walking initiative, Prof. Hartono emphasized the importance of sports and physical activity for public health. He highlighted data showing that only 10% of Indonesians actively engage in sports. This inactivity contributes to the rising cases of cardiovascular diseases, strokes, kidney diseases, and hypertension in Indonesia.

“These diseases share a common cause—arterial thickening—often due to a sedentary lifestyle. Other contributing factors include obesity, high cholesterol levels, high blood sugar, genetic predisposition, and smoking. We must take a preventive approach. We fully support health communities that promote a culture of regular exercise,” Prof. Hartono said.

The UNS Rector also recommended cardiovascular exercises like Nordic walking, which benefits heart health, strengthens blood vessels, boosts immunity, and helps manage stress. He advised engaging in cardio exercises for 30 to 40 minutes, three to five times a week, to maximize health benefits.

Health Benefits

Dr. Ir. Retno Gito, M.Si., a representative of KJNI Central Java, shared that Nordic walking has only been introduced in Indonesia over the past six years and is currently practiced in four provinces: DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java. Nationwide, there are 29 cities and districts with Nordic walking communities, comprising approximately 10.000 members. Central Java ranks first, with 14 districts and cities actively participating in KJNI.

“We aim to continue raising public awareness about the health benefits of Nordic walking. The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), in collaboration with KJNI Semarang, conducted a three-month study on 40 Nordic walkers. The study found that training three times a week for 40 minutes—including warm-up, Nordic walking, and cool-down—led to a 3% reduction in body fat, a 10% increase in cardiovascular fitness, a 4% improvement in balance, a 12,5% increase in upper body muscle strength, and a 27% increase in lower body muscle strength,” Dr. Retno explained.

KJNI and the Center for Population and Gender Studies (PPKG) at the UNS Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) plan to collaborate on research and community service projects focusing on health, fitness, and psychological well-being.

Through this initiative, UNS and KJNI actively encourage the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, improve access to healthcare services, and prevent non-communicable diseases. This effort aligns directly with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 3: “Good Health and Well-Being.”

The Acting Chairwoman of DWP UNS, Arlin Dwi Pawestri Kuncoro Diharjo, S.E., expressed hope that this assistance would help alleviate the educational expenses of the recipient children. “The GOTA educational assistance distributed today amounts to IDR 67.250.000 from 15 implementing units (UP) of DWP at UNS. This total represents the accumulated educational aid for 173 children across 15 UPs,” Arlin explained.

This grant is specifically aimed at the children of UNS employees in need. It is expected to reduce their educational financial burdens. “We hope this assistance will be beneficial, and that the children receiving aid will grow to be useful for religion, the nation, and the country,” Arlin added.

Sajidan, M.Si., and the Chairman of UNS 46^th Anniversary Celebration, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K)., also participated in the exercise.

“Representing UNS executive board, I convey my gratitude to the academic members for participating in today’s exercise,” Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., stated in his opening remark.

Prof. Jamal added that the exercise is expected to improve health, especially for Muslims who are about to enter Ramadan. “Friday is also the free emission day. Thus, all UNS academic members who will enter the campus must walk or use the campus bus,” the Rector added.

The exercise was followed by a door prize draw for participants to win a motorbike, bike, television, and other prizes.

There is also the Chair of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) UNS, Budhi Widjajanti Jamal Wiwoho, the Chair of the DWP FK UNS, Nining Himawati Revinono, and other UNS academics participating in the performance. “Members of Gladhi Beksan FK UNS today consist not only from the FK UNS academics, but there are also other UNS academics members, such as from DWP UNS, the UNS academic members at the UNS headquarters, the UNS Library, and from other faculties within UNS. Students who also participate in this event allow us to forget the status between lecturers and students because here we are equally displaying art,” explained Dr. Maryani.

In her remarks, Budhi Widjajanti said that in this Ramadan, DWP UNS held a ‘Berbagi Tiada Henti’ program. Starting from the bazaar hosted on the UNS campus, vegetable sharing (Tebar Sayur) in various places, sharing iftar meals, to organizing Ramadan Bazaar in Widya Putra Kindergarten. “Widya Putra Kindergarten belongs to DWP UNS, so we want to share and greet residents around the kindergarten with this Ramadan Bazaar activity,” explained Budhi Widjajanti.

Visitors to the Ramadan Bazaar at Widya Putra Kindergarten can buy clothes, new mukena (praying robe), a variety of items such as shoes, bags, fragile utensils, and many others at affordable prices. Moreover, there are also processed foods, canned biscuits, syrup, and eggs. “The target of this bazaar is the residents around Widya Putra Kindergarten. We provide 100 packages of Groceries containing rice, oil, sugar, and tea that are valued at Rp. 60,000, but sold by UNS DWP for Rp. 30,000. And we also distribute 150 vegetable packages to residents around Widya Putra Kindergarten. This activity can also serve as media to educate the residents, thus, they can share with each other,” she added.

In the opening ceremony, the Widya Putra Kindergarten also received a grant in the form of miniature dolls with traditional costumes from all provinces in Indonesia from Doctor Andri Putranto’s family from the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS. The doll miniatures with traditional clothes were made by children with special needs. “The doll can be support tools for learning activities at Widya Putra Kindergarten to get to know traditional clothes,” said Budhi Widjajanti. This book is published as a complete solution for housewives in solving problems in their married life,” Budhi Widjajanti explained on Monday (21/3/2022).

Budhi Widjajanti added that the materials discussed in the book are easy to understand, so it could help and satisfy many people. “My gratitude to all writers for making time to share their experiences that were collected and arranged by Ibu Arlin Kuncoro Diharjo and Committee B DWP UNS,” Budhi Widjajanti stated.

The DWP UNS Vice-Chairwoman for Education and the writer of the book, Arlin Kuncoro Diharjo, added that the book preparation is one of the education programs from DWP UNS. “The book contains 125 titles with 55 writers from DWP members from all faculties in UNS. The contents were activities that could be applied in daily life, such as planting techniques, healthcare, medicines, fashion, kitchen, home management, childcare, and other things. For example, quick way for organic cultivation, bay leaves to reduce cholesterol, uric acid, and blood sugar, potatoes get rid of the smell in the fridge, and many others,” Arlin stated. However, in March, because the 11th of yesterday coincided with the Open Session of the Academic Senate, the blood donor was postponed to the 15th,” said Prof. Bandi

Prof. Bandi added that the UNS academics members who participated in the Blood Donor activities were very enthusiastic. In the previous months, the number of donors was around 50, but there were more than 100 in March.

Opened the event directly, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., thanked all committee members of the 46th UNS Anniversary. “The 46th Anniversary Committee is very outstanding because they can invite Mr. President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo, to inaugurate the UNS Tower Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building,” explained Prof. Jamal.

Prof. Jamal hopes for more and more UNS academics member to donate their blood because this blood donor activity is a noble activity that can help each other. “The hope is for the campus to be not only an Ivory Tower but must be able to become the Water Tower. The bus took DWP UNS members from dr. Prakosa UNS building yard. The route of their excursion was UNS Campus Kentingan, Palur, Mojosongo ringroad, Joglo, Banyuagung, Sumber Manahan, Adi Sucipto Street, and ended in dr. Prakosa UNS building.

During the short program, the members had a coordination meeting led by the Chairwoman of DWP UNS, Budhi Widjajanti Jamal Wiwoho, to evaluate and discuss DWP UNS programs.

“Today we are (having a meeting) while traveling in Gatotkaca Bus. Thus, it was a different atmosphere than the usual (meeting). For me, this is the first opportunity to hold a meeting on a bus. Hopefully, this (event) left an impression, benefit, and experience,” Budhi Widjajanti Jamal Wiwoho stated.

DWP UNS discussed the events that will be held to commemorate UNS 46^th Anniversary in the meeting. The events planned by DWP UNS are blood donation on 16 February 2022 in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS, training for face mask connector production on 18 February, regular Islamic study on 22 February in Seminar Room Nurul Huda Mosque, and free circumcision as a form of community service.

“This is to commemorate the UNS 46^th Anniversary; we hold a community service program if the form of free circumcision for people,” Budhi Widjajanti Jamal Wiwoho stated.

Budhi Widjajanti Jamal Wiwoho hoped that DWP UNS programs could be implemented smoothly. “Hopefully, (it) runs smoothly, Alhamdulillah all managers and DWP UNS supports (the program),” she concluded. Humas UNS
