After opening study programs outside the main campus (PSDKU) for the Vocational School (SV), UNS in Caruban, Madiun District, East Java, UNS will prepare the opening of a new campus in Jakarta.

This plan was shared directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, when attending the National Conference (Munas) V of Alumni Association (IKA) UNS held in the Senate Meeting Room dr. Prakosa Rectorate Building UNS on Sunday (5/12/2021).

“(We) ask for your prayer for UNS will open a campus in Jakarta in 2022,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The Rector explained that the new campus would facilitate UNS alumni in the capital city who want to continue their study to the Master and Doctoral degree. He added that the new campus would be opened for people in Jakarta who want to study in UNS without having to come to Surakarta. This plan will be executed with a serious effort from UNS with a budgeted cost of IDR 50 billion that has been accepted by the Board of Trustees (MWA) UNS as confirmed by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan in an interview after V IKA UNS.

“The plan to open Jakarta campus is a form of partnership between UNS and its stakeholders in Jakarta, including alumni living there and the surrounding region who need access to education,” prof. Sajidan explained.

Prof. Sajidan added that the new Jakarta campus would also serve as a representative office of UNS to facilitate the education, research, and community services activities.

“We also offer a partnership program with PPATK that will be signed soon, BPK, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Attorney General’s Office, and IKA UNS stakeholders in Jakarta and surrounding regions,” he added.

As a start, UNS will open only two programs in the new campus, the Doctoral Program in Law Science and Doctoral Program in Economy. The two programs were selected due to their high number of prospective students and their complete preparation. Prof. Sajidan added that although the development site is yet to be secured, UNS set a target to realize the plan in 2022.

The plan was also welcomed and appreciated by the Chairman of IKA UNS 2021-2025, Ir. Budi Harto, who stated in his interview with uns.ac.id that the new campus will bring large benefits for UNS alumni who want to continue their studies.

“I think this plan is excellent and will be very useful for us alumni and provide opportunities to other parties who want to continue their study in UNS,” Ir. Budi Harto concluded. Humas UNS
