The Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Internationalization, and Information at UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., attended and officially opened the FGD. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the relevance of the theme to the current conditions and needs of higher education institutions. He emphasized that universities must effectively manage various challenges and risks in an increasingly dynamic environment. 

“We know that universities are not just educational institutions. They are also centers for the development of science, technology, and innovation. In fulfilling these roles, we face numerous risks, including operational, strategic, financial, and governance-related risks. Therefore, the implementation of integrated risk management is essential to ensure institutional sustainability and accountability,” Prof. Irwan stated. 

Risk management in universities, according to Prof. Wimboh, should begin with several key steps. In his presentation, he recommended adjusting the organizational structure to include a dedicated unit for risk management. He also emphasized the importance of establishing risk management policies that bind all units within the university. 

Establishing a timeline and setting specific priorities are crucial in implementing risk management processes. Prof. Wimboh stressed the need to identify potential risks at UNS to develop strategies to minimize or mitigate them. These strategies can then be formalized into a comprehensive risk management framework that applies to all organizational units at UNS. 

“Integrate risk management processes into various aspects of the university’s operations to identify potential risks. Then, determine mitigation efforts to address those risks,” Prof. Wimboh explained. 

Effective risk management in an organization requires a supportive ecosystem. Prof. Wimboh outlined several key elements necessary for success, including an organization that reflects good governance and general control mechanisms in financial compliance and project management; governance standards set by policy stakeholders; risk management policies and guidelines; a code of ethics and behavior, along with the establishment of an ethics committee; a dedicated risk management committee; and the use of information technology.

The event was inaugurated by the Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappeda Litbang) of Magetan Regency, Elmy Kurniarto Widodo, S.T., M.T. The FGD brought together various stakeholders, including government officials, academics, industry practitioners, and local community members.

The FGD aimed to promote the findings and technology of electric vehicle conversion, which holds significant potential in reducing carbon emissions and boosting regional competitiveness. Additionally, the event featured a test drive of the converted electric vehicles, allowing participants to experience firsthand the benefits of this eco-friendly technology.

Elmy Kurniarto Widodo, S. T., M. T. emphasized that adopting electric vehicles is a tangible step toward utilizing environmentally friendly energy sources and aligns with the vision of the “Magetan Hijau” program.

“For this initial stage, we have converted three official motorcycles and one boat at Telaga Wahyu into electric vehicles. We hope this program encourages the people of Magetan to adopt electric motorcycles, further integrating electric vehicle ecosystems into everyday life,” Elmy said.

The Magetan Regency Government fully supports the development and implementation of electric vehicle technology to reduce air pollution and enhance the quality of life for its residents. It is hoped that the test drive event will raise public awareness about the environmental, economic, and social benefits of electric vehicle technology. This initiative aligns with Magetan’s vision to develop sustainably while prioritizing the well-being of its people.

Through this collaboration with FT UNS, Magetan Regency has demonstrated its commitment to accelerating the adoption of battery-based electric vehicles as part of the broader effort to establish Indonesia as a low-emission nation.

The Dean of FT UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Wahyudi Sutopo, S.T., M.Si., IPU, highlighted in his remarks that the transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to emissions. Therefore, he commended the Magetan Regency Government for initiating the adoption of electric vehicles.

Environmentally friendly electric vehicles will support the government’s goal of reducing carbon emissions and transforming Magetan into a sustainability-oriented region by integrating eco-friendly technologies into daily life.

In addition, the growing demand for electric vehicles will create various job opportunities in related industries, ranging from production and assembly to the management of charging infrastructure.

Prof. Wahyudi added that this initiative focuses on electric vehicle technology and aims to introduce renewable and sustainable energy concepts that can holistically support regional economic growth.

“Through this program, we hope to create new economic opportunities, particularly in the growing electric vehicle industry. This electric vehicle ecosystem will generate jobs, enhance regional competitiveness, and raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and environmental preservation,” he added.

FT UNS has submitted a proposal for a Regional Action Plan for implementing renewable energy in Magetan Regency as a concrete contribution. The plan involves increasing electricity demand through the use of converted motorcycles, electric motorcycles, public transportation, and smart city support infrastructure.

The electricity supply is envisioned to come from renewable energy sources produced in Magetan, ranging from household-level renewable energy to large-scale renewable energy systems, ultimately aiming for energy independence.

“We believe that the collaboration among institutions, government, and the community is crucial to achieving our shared goals of a greener and more sustainable Indonesia. Therefore, the Faculty of Engineering UNS is open to working together on various projects and innovations,” Prof. Wahyudi concluded. HUMAS UNS

In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal stated that it is appropriate for a campus to be committed to implementing and monitoring the nation’s character building.

“Campus is a miniature of the community because it has diverse people with different backgrounds, races, religions, thoughts, ideologies, and interests, who gather in a system,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The Rector added that the true miniature of the nation had been presented in UNS with its six places of worship in one close area. The six places of worship are Mosque, the Catholic church, the Christian church, Hindu Temple (Pura), Buddhist Temple (Vihara), and the Confucian Temple. (Klenteng). Prof. Jamal also emphasized that he believes that through correct and strong Pancasila education, the university could achieve humane and diversity-friendly campus life that will continue upholding the values of tolerance, tepo seliro (Javanese philosophy of helping each other without discrimination), togetherness, and kinship.

The discussion that followed the opening remark was moderated by Prof. Pujiyono. All participants received an opportunity to deliver their ideas in defining UNS as Pancasila vanguard in this discussion. Prof. Hasan mentioned that the values in Pancasila must be applied by all UNS academic members through small things in the surrounding environment, at home, and in the academic environment.

Prof. Susy Susmartini also mentioned the examples of Pancasila Vanguard implementation by the student association she supervised, Voca Erudita. She explained that despite a large number of members, but Voca Erudita could perform together and achieved numerous awards. Prof. Susy stated that one of the values upheld in Voca Erudita is togetherness.

“Before concert or competition, they shared their feelings. Whatever disturbing their minds are shared with their fellow members; this aims to avoid talking in one’s back and to maintain togetherness,” Prof. Susy stated. Humas UNS

Dr. Djuminah, M.Si., Ak., Vice-Dean for Human Resources, Finance, and Logistics Affairs FEB UNS, who represented the Dean of FEB UNS, stated that this FGD is an exciting moment for faculty and program management and faculty members because they could exchange knowledge and experience in managing an international class.

Taufiq Arifin, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., who represented the Head of Accounting Program, stated in his remark that the event is a part of the UNS program as a World Class University.

“International class is a part of university strategy to shape high-quality graduates that could compete at national and international levels by providing exposure towards international level curriculum, especially in diverse skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and other skills,” Taufiq Arifin explained.

Previously, the International Class program was implemented by Accounting and Development Economic Program FEB UNS. In the program, students gained an opportunity to enrich their academic experiences, for example, by taking a double degree, four semesters in UNS and four semesters at Curtin University.

“This is an exciting program that could be used by students in the first batch of international class,” he added.

The FGD was expected to provide a forum of discussion in developing the existing program in FEB UNS, especially in managing an international class. Humas UNS

The Head of the Fine Arts Study Program as well as the Organizing Committee of the 2021 FSRD UNS Matching Fund Program, Dr. Setyo Budi, M.Sn., said that the objective of this matching fund program is to establish a connection between universities and the Industrial World Business World (DUDI). “Millennial generation can understand the directions and maps on how to deal with problems. It is not just about graduating, but how to have a beneficial role in this nation,” said Dr. Setyo Budi.

On this occasion, the study program invites a Senior Professor from the Yogyakarta Art Institute (ISI), Prof. M. Dwi Marianto, MFA., Ph.D., as the FGD speaker, and Dyah Yuni Kurniawati, S.Sn. M.Sn., from the UNS Public Relations and Media as well as UNS FSRD lecturer, as the Moderator. In his warm opening, Prof. Marianto started the discussion with a topic entitled “Transforming Virtual Reality into Creative Ideas and Concepts.” Starting from this first point, Prof. Marianto emphasized the importance of student awareness as a subject in the scope of the arts. People who place themselves as subjects are considered well aware that they are actually thinking and planning.

However, people will not always act as the subject. The roles as subject and object certainly, can take place interchangeably. Prof. Marianto directs the discussion on design thinking, which involves empathy. The process of empathy provides an opportunity for someone who was originally positioned as a subject to try to blend with the observed object. “When we are looking for ideas, we transform the object as a subject to allow us in gaining knowledge and obtaining useful phenomena. These subjects and objects interact with each other,” explained Prof. Marianto

Another substantial point is the significance of an object’s in-depth observation. This effort is made to reveal the reality in it. At this point, Prof. Marianto advised the students to create an observed work of art in various creative ways. Prof. Marianto took this opportunity to share tips on starting a creative process. “If you are looking for ideas for a masterpiece, look for a topic according to your dream orientation. Make something that is based on your passion or what excites you when you work on it,” he explained.

The current creative process has also involved various roles of technology. The creation of manual and digital works of art can present simultaneously. The two methods can complement each other in the artwork creation process. Humas UNS

The Chief of PUI Javanologi UNS, Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, Secretary of PUI Javanologi UNS, Prof. Diah Kristina, the Chief of Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jateng, Dr. Ganjar Harimansyah, peer group and activist of PUI Javanologi UNS, and editors from Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jateng attended the event. Prof. Diah Kristina opened the FGD and welcomed the participants from Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jateng. She added that the FGD would discuss the editing of twenty literature works in the form of short stories, poems, and Indonesian playscript from poets, writers, and academics in Central Java.

“This event is expected to add into our literature knowledge for Javanese Language teaching in school,” Prof. Diah Kristina added.

The Chief of PUI Javanology, Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, hopes that this collaboration will continue in other fields. “We warmly welcome this collaboration, and we hope this (collaboration) will continue into other fields, for example, Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) teaching, publication in the national journal, and production of educational film for elementary and high school students,” Prof. Sahid concluded.
