Through the National Webinar for Design and Writing Training, the Sociology Student Association (Himasos) FISIP UNS shared tips on composing a good and correct CV. Inviting Armando Radityawan, an Assessor for the Indonesian Dimensional Power, the National Webinar was held virtually through the Zoom Cloud Meeting, Saturday (4/12/2021).

Opening his presentation, Armando Radityawan shares the secrets of recruiters in selecting prospective employees. Usually, recruiters only need 30-40 seconds to assess the jobseekers’ CV. This condition happens because of a large number of applicants.

Recruiters also tend to look at portfolios before looking at CVs. However, because of the limited time and a large number of applicants, recruiters tend to be more selective when opening a CV. Companies that have not implemented search engines will delete emails in the form of a compressed file (rar) and without email bodies. Therefore, job seekers must ensure the body of the email and the format of the document sent are correct according to the requirements.

“CV writing should pay attention to personal data disclosure. Make sure that it is easy to read, the content is easy to understand, and has a selling point. Sort the information presented in CV from the most complicated to the simplest, and start the designing process,” said Armando Radityawan.

Armando Radityawan also shares the tips to not include any rating in their skill section. Jobseekers can simply include the area of expertise they have. Additionally, job seekers also need to consider the relevance of the CV. Jobseekers should pay attention to the target industry before sending the same CV to the different job applications.

Based on the limited time the recruiter has in reviewing one CV, Armando Radityawan suggests that job seekers should only make a one-page CV. “Keep it as short as possible and ensure that it is relevant,” he said.

Furthermore, Armando Radityawan suggested that jobseekers should also consider the color composition used in a CV. Finally, job seekers should re-read the compiled CV to ensure there are no mistakes or writing errors.

Through these tips, Armando Radityawan hopes that jobseekers can establish good personal branding through a CV because a good CV is a CV that can describe the jobseeker’s self-image to the recruiter.

“CV is a tool to introduce yourself to recruiters. Because the interview process only has a short time, applicants’ CV becomes the recruiter’s re-reference to remember applicants identity and qualifications,” added Armando Radityawan. Humas UNS

Himasos invited Triana Rahmawati, the owner of Givo Souvenir and the Founder of Youth Project & Humie Essential Oil; Lenang Manggala, the Founder of Nyalanesia; and Gilang Amy Sambada, the Owner, Content Creator, Graphic Designer of Eleven Attire. The event was opened with a remark from the Chief of Himasos, Yoga Catur Kautsar, and the Head of Sociology Program, Dr. Argyo Demartoto.

Triana Rahmawati stated that entrepreneurship is a learning process. To be an entrepreneur, she said, someone needs to focus on continuous learning. In the same event, Gilang shared tips to be an entrepreneur with the participants.

“Starting could be from small things. During my university days, I saw an opportunity and was to build the UNS brand through fashion. The business is also inspired by the name of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Eleven, which means Sebelas,” he explained.

The third speaker, Lenang Manggala, shared a description of good marketing methods, segmentation techniques, and variables that should be considered in market segmentation to ensure that the marketing process goes smoothly.

This workshop is expected to be more confident in starting their business. The challenges and failures they faced should become a lesson to grow further. Humas UNS
