UNS — “I often participated in a rally during my student’s days,” said Ikhlas Thamrin, opening the discussion on Wedangan Ikatan Keluarga Alumni (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta series 102 on Wednesday (30/3/2022). Ikhlas stated that h often participated in a rally, especially around energy policies. However, after completing his study in the Faculty of Law (FH) UNS in 2005, he changed his mindset.

“I fully remember participating in a rally in Jakarta refusing the increase in fuel price. But after graduation, I started to think about what I could do to provide a solution in energy policies,” he stated.

Thus, since graduating, he has been actively finding a solution for Indonesian energy consumption. He argued that Indonesia is vulnerable to scarcity and high energy costs because the country has yet to adopt renewable and environmentally friendly energy.

His journey brought him to conduct long research since 2007, and in 2015 he launched a social movement and established PT Baterai Freeneg Generasi. The research brought an energy solution with a registered patent from the International Certificate Testing Technology (ICTT).

FH UNS Class 2001 students offered credit-based electric energy. He created products in the form of credit-based stoves and motorcycles using battery and token credit systems. Users of both products do not need to find a charging station when they run out of the battery but only need to recharge their credit through token purchase.

The products were Ikhlas’ first step in achieving his dream to create an electric ecosystem in Indonesia by 2030. The President Director of PT Baterai Freeneg Generasi’s next move is innovating the technology, achieving manufacturing sovereignty, and digitalization of economic system.

Ikhlas hoped his wish to build an electric ecosystem in Indonesia could be achieved through these three main focuses.

“I still remember a theory taught by Pak Drajat. If we want to make a change, there are four requirements, values, social movement, hero, and momentum. So, we need to hold these four requirements if we want to make a change. I truly remember these requirements and try to achieve them,” Ikhlas stated. Humas UNS

UNS — Joko Suranto, SH, MH., a crazy rich from Grobogan, Central Java, suddenly went viral because of his initiative to renovate 1.8 kilometers of damaged road worth Rp 2.8 billion on personal funding. Unexpectedly Joko is an alumnus of the Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, who currently serves as the Chairman of the FH UNS Alumni Association Foundation (IKA).

The story began when he took the initiative to renovate the road in his hometown, Jetis Village, Karangrayung District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java, which connects three villages, Telawah, Jetis, and Nampu. “I am actually concerned about the condition of the damaged road, and it has not been repaired for decades. It also often causes accidents,” Joko said over the phone, reported via Instagram @mgradio_network that went live on Tuesday (19/4/2022).

As stated by Joko, the road in this specific area has not been repaired for 20 years. “The road in Jetis Village, about 3 kilometers to my parents’ village, is severely damaged. Indeed, about two kilometers of road were already cast in concrete. However, aside from the renovation carried out 3-4 years ago on the 2 (two) kilometers road towards Telawahi, the remaining road to the entrance to my village has never been repaired. It means that for almost 20 years, there had never been any action taken for the road condition. It’s just like a patchwork. Indeed, before it was paved, but the asphalt quality is not good,” explained Joko.

The renovation progress has been completed, and is only waiting for the asphalt to dry up. Joko estimates that on April 29, 2022, the road will be passable by passenger cars so the public can use it before the 2022 Eid homecoming tradition. However, initially, Joko did not expect his actions to invite citizen discussion, considering that this was not his first-time initiative. Previously he had also built roads in Bandung Regency, Cicalengka, Subang, and also built 30 mosques in West Java. “It’s usually only known to people around me. I was also surprised when the road construction in Jetis Village could go viral on social media. I have absolutely no idea how come it went viral. But it’s okay. No need for further discourse. Basically, as human beings, we must share,” added Joko.

Many speculate whether this action was done sincerely or not. Responding to this, Joko said sincerity could only be known in one’s heart. He always remembers his value ‘do not be afraid to do good.’ “But, when we do something that is not sincere, what are we looking for? We seek no personal interest except for witnessing happiness in the eyes of those closest to us and our best friends. Knowing that our friends are happy with the new road is something beautiful, irreplaceable. It’s also a good idea that people who walk down that road get an invaluable sense of happiness, right? We don’t expect praise from anyone. Good intentions with good goals, inshallah, will turn into favorable outcomes too,” explained Joko.

Joko continues that everyone reserves the right to share kindness. The rights to build as well, sharing the good. Regardless of his profession. It must start from a firm intention and determination that every good action will return to the respective character. “Everyone can do good deeds, and they can share kindness. It doesn’t have to be an entrepreneur or an official. Anytime we are entrusted with a duty or task, we have to do a lot of kindness and establish a lot of merits. And since it’s a duty if you can’t do it, then just back off because you can’t carry out the task properly,” Joko said.

Joko also urged the government, which is still slow in its performance, to better understand each other’s duties and actively encourage collaboration with the private sector. “When you can’t carry out assigned duties according to your role, then you need to learn a lot. Don’t bring many reasons as you get in an official position. There will be a way. Our tagline is ‘must be willing, must be able.’ So only the people who walk will arrive at their destination, only those who work will finish their duty. It means that it depends on one’s will, intention, and willingness to complete the task as soon as possible. Sure we can,” concluded Joko. Humas UNS

UNS — The Alumni Association (IKA) of the Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a discussion on the new capital of Indonesia (IKN) in Ngobrol Bareng IKA FH UNS on Thursday (24/2/2022). The event was held online through the Zoom Cloud Meetings application discussing “Professor’s Discussion on Nusantara Capital City.”

Three professors and alumni of FH UNS were invited to the event, Prof. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, S.H., M.H., IKA FH UNS Chairman and Director General (Dirjen) of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil); Prof. Dr. Triyanto, S.H., M.Hum., Head of Master Program in Pancasila and Civics Education (PPKn) UNS; and Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani, S.H., M.M., Dean of FH UNS.

Prof. Zudan opened the discussion by discussing the population concern of the new capital city. He stated that the IKN would serve as the center for governmental activities, not business activities, which differentiate Jakarta and Nusantara. The city will be classified into three regions, Central Governmental Core Area (KIPP) with 6,671 hectares of land, IKN Region (K-IKN) with 56,180 hectares, and Developmental Region IKN (KP-IKN) with 199,962 hectares. To support its operation, many of the public service apparatus (ASN) will also move to the IKN. Prof. Zudan stated that around 300 thousand ASN would gradually move from Jakarta to Nusantara.

“The move will be gradual. For example, if there are two thousand people in a ministry, then 200 people will move first. Thus, the move could take 15 up to 20 years to complete. During the period, there will be two ministerial offices in Jakarta and Nusantara,” Prof. Zudan stated.

Prof. Ayu, the Dean of FH UNS, shared material on environmental policies in IKN. Prof. Ayu hopes that the construction process in IKN could pay attention to the environmental aspect of the area to preserve the natural environment of Kalimantan. “Development always has a negative and positive impact on the environment. So, how do we reduce the negative impact and push for the positive impacts. Besides that, in the legal perspective, the legal administrative instrument must be prepared well,” she added.

Prof. Triyanto, FH UNS alumnus and Head of Master Program in Pancasila and Civics Education UNS, discusses the sociological aspect of the new capital city. He stated that the government needs to pay attention to the local people in the new capital city to prevent the marginalization of local people. The government should also pay attention to the livelihood of people moving to the new city, including the government employees. Their residence, social environment, and education must be prepared for these people. “These (issues) need to be anticipated to ensure that migrants and local people receive optimum benefits from the new city,” he added.

The discussion was led by Ahmad Rafiq, an FH UNS alumnus who works as a journalist. The discussion was exciting, with around one hundred participants participating in the discussion. Humas UNS

Representing the IKA FH UNS, Prof. Dr. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, S.H., M.H., mentioned in his opening remark that online lending is a national issue with legal, psycho-social, and digital trust aspects. Therefore, he added that the issue could be solved through legal and financial aspects. “There needs to be an easy mechanism for people to borrow money, for example through cooperative. Or through the social safety net,” he stated.
