The lecture featured key figures, including Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., Rector of UNS. It also included Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Ph.D., Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners. Herman Saheruddin, Ph.D., Head of the PRP Preparation Office and LPS Institutional Relations also attended. Researchers from UNS’s Center for Fintech and Banking also participated in the event.

Key Insights on Economic and Financial Trends for 2025

Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., opened the seminar in the afternoon. In his speech, he emphasized that UNS and LPS have collaborated on multiple fronts for over a decade. This partnership is a clear example of synergy between academia and industry. He also highlighted the seminar’s importance in offering students a comprehensive understanding of economic and financial projections for 2025.

“Thank you to LPS for over 10 years of successful collaboration with UNS. This partnership has spanned teaching, research, community service, scholarship programs, and more. The synergy between academia and industry is evident in this collaboration,” Prof. Hartono said. “We hope this lecture will provide students with valuable insights into economic and financial projections for the upcoming year.”

Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa discussed global inflation trends. Inflation in major countries had been decreasing towards central bank targets. However, in December 2024, inflation rose in the US, European Union, and Japan due to higher energy and food prices. At the same time, monthly deflation in China helped reduce inflation. Purbaya also stressed that faster economic growth requires more than just capital and labor. It also demands human capital, technological advancement, and new ideas.

“After Donald Trump’s re-election as US President, trade tensions between the US and several countries escalated. This situation could slow global economic growth. The good news is that Indonesia’s average economic growth remains above the global average. However, it is essential to continue encouraging consumer spending and private investment,” Purbaya said.

Student Engagement and Exciting Prizes

Hundreds of students attended the lecture, which was made more exciting by various door prizes. These included e-money, three smartphones, and a grand prize tablet. Purbaya engaged the audience with questions, offering the main door prize to one lucky winner. The event concluded with a live quiz competition where participants could win e-money prizes.
