Tirtonadi Surakarta Bus Terminal has become their preferred public facility because there are several community components that must understand the K3 implementation aspects at the largest bus terminal in Surakarta City. Therefore, they consider that education on safety induction is important to do. In general, the safety induction video they created aims to convey the proper safety and health induction procedures in the bus terminal area. These procedures are made in a manner to facilitate workers’ and community’s understanding and help them to obey the procedure in their normal activity around the terminal. “For example, in the event of an emergency such as fire and earthquake that could occur at Tirtonadi Terminal. We also educate the community and workers in the Tirtonadi Terminal related to how to conduct evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency,” Dea said.

In the video, they also conveyed information related to some public facilities in the Tirtonadi Terminal environment both for bus passengers, workers, and others. Thus, this safety induction video also serves as a medium to introduce the Tirtonadi Surakarta Terminal to the wider community.

The UNS student team is grateful for their success in this competition. They did not expect for this accomplishment. Their gratitude goes to the parties who supported this success, one of which is Terminal Tirtonadi. The 2022 STAYCATION, the competition they participated in, was organized by the Occupational Health and Safety Study Program Student Association, Politeknik Ketenagakerjaan, to commemorate National Occupational Health and Safety Month. There are two categories available, namely safety induction videos and infographics competition. This event aims to nurture high school students’ creativity, university students, and the general public and to educate the wider community about the application of occupational health and safety in everyday life. According to the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs report, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, UNS as a Pancasila Fortress Campus upholds the noble values of the nation’s culture. “Therefore, today, UNS will be declared as an anti-violence campus. Later, this declaration will be submitted and read by student representatives,” said Prof. Yunus.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, is highly supportive of this activity. This support is encouraged by the fact that a campus is a place full of scientific values, honesty, morality, and humanity. “The UNS academic community member continues to uphold its commitment to fight against both physical and verbal violence. Moreover, this effort is initiated by students who will later become future leaders. In general, campus violence, which leads to fatalities, can no longer be considered as an ordinary incident. This is an extraordinary incident,” said Prof. Jamal.

Additionally, Prof. Jamal is also concerned about the departure of Gilang Endi Saputra, a student of the Diploma in Health and Company Hygiene and Work Safety (K3) Study Program, Vocational School (SV) UNS. “We express our deepest condolences. May the departed be accepted by Allah, and his family will be given fortitude,” he added.

The Anti-Violence Declaration was delivered and read by Maulidina Zahra Nabila, a student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS. Then, after being read out, this declaration was signed by four representatives from student organizations, lecturers, academic support staff, and university (UNS) representatives. The student organizations were represented by Zakky Musthofa Zuhad; UNS lecturers were represented by dr. Paramasari Dirgahaju, Ph.D., academic support staff were represented by Wuji Anggraini, M.Pd.; and the UNS leader was represented by Dr. Sutanto, DEA. Humas UNS

“Representing UNS, I apologize for the incident that befell Gilang in Diklat Menwa UNS. Hopefully, the late Gilang is accepted in Allah SWT side and granted Husnul Khatimah,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The Rector also emphasized yet again that UNS handed the investigation process to the police and that UNS fully supported the investigation process of the case to uphold truth and justice for all parties.

“Thus, UNS fully support and cooperate with the investigation process conducted by the police officer, in this case, Investigation Team from Surakarta Police Office,” Prof. Jamal said.

The support and cooperation are provided through giving all possible access for the investigation team to acquire needed documents, to check related locations in UNS, and questions UNS students, faculty members, and academic staff.

Gilang Endi Saputra’s parent, Sunardi, welcomed the visit from UNS Rector and entourage. “Thank you for visiting our home. We greatly appreciate the investigation performed by Surakarta and Central Java Police Offices and for the identification of suspects. The family fully supports the investigation processes performed by the police,” Sunardi stated.

The event was broadcasted through the Zoom Cloud Meeting and UNS YouTube channel.

The collective prayer ceremony includes Al-Qur’an Surah Yasin recitation followed by collective prayers. The Rector of UNS Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., in his opening remark, offered his condolences for the death of Gilang Endi Saputra, a student of Diploma Program in Health and Company Hygiene and Work Safety (K3) Vocational School (SV) UNS.

As the executive board of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho apologized to the family for the death of Gilang Endi Saputra on Sunday (24/10/2021). The executive board of UNS and all academic members never justify the actions that go against the existing norms.

“The executive board of UNS agreed to hand all of the processes to the police to investigate the incident promptly according to the prevailing regulation and could identify who should be held responsible (for the incident),” Prof. Jamal Wiwoho stated.

Gilang Endi Saputra’s parents thanked UNS academic members and students who had attended the ceremony directly. The family asked attendees to pray and forgive Gilang Endi Saputra’s mistakes during his lifetime if any. Humas UNS
