Attended by the Director of Creative Industry Intellectual Property Development, Kemenparekraf, Dr. Robinson H. Sinaga, and UNS Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, the event successfully invited the participation of 125 tourism and creative economy actors in Solo City. In his remark, Prof. Kuncoro said that Solo became the last city in this intellectual property dissemination and assistance program.

Previously, there were three cities selected for the program implementation, such as Jayapura, Gorontalo, and Palembang. For this occasion, Solo received the highest assistance quota for 125 entrepreneurs. This allowance is much greater than in other cities with only 75 participants. “This assistance is important because the products protected by IPR, when it was imitated by others, and it is registered as your right, then you will be legally protected. The product’s economic value will increase. For instance, if you have an original batik design and was IPR registered, the design which originally priced at 500 thousand can reach up to 1 million in selling price,” he said.

Prof. Kuncoro hopes that all the material delivered can be well received and used as an asset in the next product development. He also said that UNS is very open to MSME entrepreneurs who want to collaborate in registering their intellectual property. In 2021, there were more than 600 IPRs registered with UNS assistance.

Meanwhile, Dr. Robinson H. Sinaga said that Solo was chosen as one of the program implementation sites because it has a high potential for tourism and creative industries development. “Solo has enormous potential, so we provide financial and administrative assistance. For trademark registrations, it usually costs 1.8 million, this amount will be funded by the Kemenparekraf. We will also assist in the process of filling out plenty of administrative forms,” he explained.

He further elaborates that the limited knowledge of IPR made many applicants fail at the administrative stage. Therefore, this activity includes interview sessions to ensure the types of IPR that need to get registered. “We conduct experts interview to ensure their (MSMEs’ entrepreneurs) needs are not mistaken because of the substantial types of IPR. For example, what category they shall apply in,” he added. Humas UNS

Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T., appreciated the socialization and thanked FP UNS for holding socialization in welcoming and supporting UNS through Matching Fund Kedaireka Program. The Vice-Rector also stated that the Matching Fund is a funding scheme from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) for the collaboration between universities and the Business and Industrial sectors (DUDI) in implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

“In the research and innovation field, (we) encourage UNS to contribute more to the Matching Fund 2022 program. Inviting faculty members, especially from FP UNS, to join the program. To participate and seize the opportunity. Let us welcome the Matching Fund 2022 program,” Prof. Kuncoro stated.

Prof. Kuncoro also hoped that UNS could win at least IDR 50 billion in funding from the scheme. He added that to prepare faculty members to join the program UNS has collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK), and some partners from DUDI. The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH., M.Hum., also mandated the Director of Innovation and Downstreaming to oversee Matching Fund 2022 and to assist and provides confirmation needed by the applicants. The university also provided other administrative support for applicants.

The first socialization material was delivered by the Dean of FP UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samanhudi, S.P., M.Si., IPM, ASEAN Eng., on Proposal Matching Fund 2022 Socialization as technical references in preparing the proposal. The second material was delivered by Dr. Ir. Joko Riyanto, M.P., on how he and his team won funding in 2021.

“Hopefully, in 2022, more proposals from FP UNS could win funding from the Matching Fund 2022 program,” Dr. Joko stated. Humas UNS

The Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si., welcomed all the invited guests from Kemenparekraf. “Welcome to the Director and all staff of Kemenparekraf to FKIP UNS,” Dr. Mardiyana stated before explaining that FKIP UNS is located besides Kawasan Pelopor and Benteng Pancasila UNS that offers a place of worship for all official religions in Indonesia; Mosque, Church, Buddhist Temple, Hindu Temple, and Confucian Temple. The area represents the diversity and tolerance among the religions and is expected to facilitate UNS students with diverse religions.

Dr. Mardiyana also stated that this collaboration aligns with UNS 46^th Anniversary theme ‘UNS Internationalization and Digital Technology-based Innovation Development towards Creative Economy Development,’ which will include an exhibition of all creative economy products from all faculties in UNS. Therefore, it is greatly expected that the collaboration could be implemented through various activities that support creative economy programs. The collaboration is also expected to benefit FKIP UNS, UNS, Kemenparekraf, and the community.

Kemenparekraf, especially the Digital Economy Governance, is very enthusiastic about this collaboration. The Director of Digital Economy Governance Kemenparekraf, Selliane Halia Ishak, S.Kom., M.Si., stated that her division covers planning, technical implementation, monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of digital economy governance in tourism and creative economy sectors. These functions align with the mission shared by the Dean of FKIP.

Therefore, the collaboration will be implemented through diverse activities such as developing governance for the digital economy in tourism and creative economy sectors, providing a reference for journal publication, preparing recommendations of the roadmap for digital transformation in tourism and creative economy sectors, preparing a roadmap for digital transformation in tourism and creative economy sectors, and providing data and information as a reference from the developed roadmap.

Selliane reminded that this collaboration should not stop in the write-up but need to be implemented and benefit Kemenparekraf, FKIP UNS, and the community. She also congratulates UNS on its 46^th Anniversary. “Hopefully, it runs smoothly and successfully; keep the spirit,” Selliane stated.
