LAM-PTKes Appoints Assessors

LAM-PTKes appointed two assessors to conduct the reaccreditation process: dr. Nurcahya Setyawan, Sp.B-KBD, and Dr. Muhammad Arifin Parenrengi, dr., Sp.BS(K). They conducted an on-site assessment of the UNS Surgery Residency Program on Monday and Tuesday, April 21–22, 2025.

The assessment began with a formal reception of the assessors at the Dr. Prakosa Rectorate Building. UNS Rector Prof. Dr. Hartono, M.Si, along with several faculty leaders, welcomed the assessors. Among them was Prof. Dr. Sarwanto, S.Pd., M.Si, Head of the Institute for Educational Development and Quality Assurance (LPPMP) UNS. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi, S.S., M.Hum, Head of the National and International Accreditation Unit of LPPMP UNS, also attended. dr. Heri Dwi Purnomo, Sp.An., Interim Director of Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, was present. Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, also took part. The vice deans and Head of PPDS Surgical Science Study Programme of FK UNS, Dr. dr. Widyanti Soewoto, Sp.B, Sups.Onk (K) also participated as well.

Commitment to Quality Education

In his remarks, Prof. Hartono reaffirmed UNS’s strong commitment to improving education and healthcare services. “The Faculty of Medicine at UNS collaborates with Dr. Moewardi General Hospital to improve education quality. They implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in all programs, including the Surgery Residency Program,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the feedback and suggestions from the assessors would contribute to further advancements in the program.

Clarification on the Accreditation Process

During the session, dr. Nurcahya clarified that the assessors’ role was to verify the accuracy of the information submitted in the accreditation documents. “We are here to observe whether the realities match what was presented in the accreditation forms. We observe and report as part of our role. LAM-PTKes will evaluate the program based on our findings,” he explained.

On-Site Evaluation and Facility Inspection

Following the reception, the assessors joined faculty and program leaders. They proceeded to the UNS Faculty of Medicine Auditorium for the on-site evaluation. The day included presentations by the Dean and Program Head, followed by a Q&A session. The assessors also interviewed faculty members about lecturer-to-student ratios and curriculum delivery. Additionally, student representatives provided input on academic and non-academic services. Alumni employers also shared insights regarding the competencies of the program’s graduates.

On the second day, the assessors visited Dr. Moewardi General Hospital and UNS Hospital to inspect the residency program’s facilities. They also conducted interviews with students and medical staff at both hospitals. The visit included inspections of the UNS Library and the anatomical laboratory. The team also visited the animal testing laboratory managed by the Faculty of Medicine. The accreditation process concluded with a presentation of the assessors’ preliminary findings, marking the end of the site assessment phase.

The assessment was opened directly by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, mentioned UNS’ readiness to open the new program in his opening remark. “UNS, with its autonomous status, is fully ready and feasible to open the new sub-internal medicine program in the Faculty of Medical Science,” Prof. Ahmad Yunus stated.

LAM-PTKes, through its Director of Accreditation, Soetrisno, sent two assessors, Prof. Dr. dr. Maimun Syukri, Sp.PD-KGH, FINASIM., from Universitas Syiah Kuala (Unsyiah) Banda Aceh and Dr. dr. Sony Wibisono Mudjanarko, Sp.PD-KEMD, FINASIM., from Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya. The assessment process took one day, and the assessment result was provided through the Accreditation Information System (SIMAK) Online Minimum LAM-PTKes.

The new program has diverse strengths. It will become the 6^th program of University Based in Indonesia after Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad), and Universitas Airlangga (Unair). It will also become the first program in Central Java that offers various concentrations such as tropical infections, kidney, hypertension, and gastroenteric-hepatology with excellence in Translational Research.

The program is also supported by high-quality and competent human resources, 18 sub-specialist consultant doctors, with 6 of them having doctorates and professors. The program is also supported by the Indonesian College of Internal Medicine and Medical Council and supported by the Internal Medicine Specialist Program’s track records by three excellent accreditations from LAMPTKES.

The program also has numerous international collaborations with the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad India, Uonoma Kikan Hospital Japan, JSGE St. Mary’s Hospital Seoul. FK UNS Sub-Specialist Program in Internal Medicine also hosted a hospital-based subspecialist education program in the Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) Dokter Moewardi from 2018 to 2020 and graduated five students. Students’ achievements are guaranteed with the availability of facilities such as type an A teaching hospital and several network hospitals with an adequate number and variety of cases. Humas UNS

The Status, Score, and Accreditation Rating in the LAM-PTKes Accreditation Decree for the UNS Undergraduate in Medicine Education Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program are valid from the date the Decree is issued until November 12, 2025.

In her remarks, the Vice-Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FK UNS, Paramasari Dirgahayu Ph.D., expressed her gratitude to all of FK UNS Faculty Members for providing assistance and support such as supporting documents and information, during the Self-Assessment Report preparation and the site-visit.

“We are all happy that our faculty achieved the accreditation and maintain our accreditation rating, with an excellent “A” predicate or outstanding,” explained Paramasari.

Paramasari added that the Undergraduate in Medicine Education Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program were accredited by LAM-PTKes with a similar rating for three consecutive periods. She wishes that in the future, FK UNS can receive international accreditation. Humas UNS
