The Head of UPT UNS Library, Burhanuddin Harahap, SH, M.H., M.Si., Ph.D., revealed that RFID technology is implemented to support the UPT UNS Library’s self-service system located on the 1st Floor. Dr. Burhanuddin added that RFID is a small electronic device consisting of a chip and an antenna to perform cordless detection. “The establishment of a self-service system using RFID will be very useful for detecting whether books brought by users have been recorded in the UNS Libary borrowing system or not. When RFID technology detects books brought by users have not been recorded in the borrowing list, this system will emit a warning sound,” Burhanuddin said.

Then the ceremony continued with a trial practiced by Prof. Jamal. The simulation was carried out by Prof. Jamal to walk through the system while carrying books recorded in the borrowing list of the UPT UNS Library system and books that had not been recorded for book borrowing. As a result, when carrying an unrecorded book, the system will emit a warning sound. And vice versa, when Prof. Jamal brought a book that had already been borrowed, the system didn’t make a sound. “I really appreciate the initiatives and ideas from Pegadaian to establish The Gade Creative Lounge Corner. Thank you once again for establishing this function that became a wonderful and beautiful gift at the 46th Anniversary of UNS,” explained Prof. Jamal on Friday (11/3/2022).

Prof. Jamal added that the Gade Creative Lounge Corner could provide a new comfortable atmosphere for students to study, discuss, relax, play games, and increase enthusiasm for learning. Furthermore, this area is expected to change perspectives and the separation due to formality while establishing sharing and collaborative value among all UNS academic members.

As Prof. Jamal remarked, the Gade Creative Lounge Corner is a grant from Pegadaian to support the learning process at UNS. “I will also invite RKPU UNS members for a meeting in the Gade Creative Lounge Corner in the near future. Also, the faculty leaders should share information about this function massively to reach all UNS students,” continued Prof. Jamal.

Prof. Jamal said, further optimization on the Gade Creative Lounge Corner will be a continuous effort to improve the quality of learning at uns. “Hopefully, this area can create a comfortable atmosphere for studying and be useful for all UNS students,” Gunawan said.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samanhudi, S.P., M.Sc., IPM, ASEAN Eng., became one of the first to be amazed by the Gade Creative Lounge Corner. He also hopes this function can be useful for students. Humas UNS

Himadikpa FKIP UNS also initiated the re-opening of the village library, which operation was halted before. Library administration training was held for Karang Taruna Desa Pojok and Teachers of Kindergarten (TK) 2 Pojok in the first week. Bachrul Ilmi, S.Ptk., M. Hum., faculty member of Diploma Program in Library Science UNS, was invited to the training as a speaker.

In the second week, Himadikpa FKIP UNS socialized “The Fun of Reading Together” for students at five and six grades of Elementary School (SDN) 3 Pojok by inviting Dr. Arif Setyawan, S.Hum., M.Pd., a faculty member of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program FKIP UNS as a speaker.

The second session of library administration training was held in the third week, followed by ISOTON 2021 closing with the launching of Reading Corner library in Pojok Village on Sunday (12/12/2021) as an opening ceremony of the village library.

Risa Qotrunnada, as the Chief of ISOTON 2021, hoped that the program could motivate the managing committee to improve literacy in their respective villages. Risa hoped that the event could improve literacy in Pojok Village, Mojogedang.

“I hope after ISOTON, the committee members could contribute to improving literacy at their respective villages. My hope for Pojok Village people, hopefully, they could become an intellectual community with high interest for reading using the village library facilities,” Risa stated. Humas UNS

The equipment was handed in Rekso Pustoko library Pura Mangkunegaran on Tuesday (27/7/2021), attended by the Chief of PUI Javanologi UNS Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, representative of Akbar Tandjung family, Rory I. Danisworo and wife, penghageng Mondropuro Pura Mangkunegaran Supriyanto, and representative from Rekso Pustoko library Pura Mangkunegaran Darweni, M. Hum.

Prof. Sahid stated that Rekso Pustoko library Pura Mangkunegaran established in 11 August 1867 during KGPAA Mangkunegoro IV leadership acts as a source of knowledge. Therefore, a step to protect and manage the old manuscript is needed in the virtual cyber era to improve its utilization is needed.

“We know that Rekso Pustoko library Pura Mangkunegaran has been around for centuries. For a long time, Rekso Pustoko library has assisted the Indonesian generation in completing their Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degree with satisfactory research findings,” he stated.

He added that PUI Javanologi UNS acts as initiators and takes the initiative to assist Rekso Pustoko library Pura Mangkunegaran in applying manuscript digitalization. Thus, PUI Javanologi UNS, with its networks and connections, assists Rekso Pustoko library Pura Mangkunegaran in finding donors for the digitalization process. From the exploration process, PUI Javanologi UNS communicate with the Akbar Tandjung family and received approval from Akbar Tandjung’s wife, Nina Akbar Tandjung.

“The idea was supported, and PUI Javanologi contacted Gusti Retno Rosadi ‘Gusti Rus’ as pengageng library from Pura Mangkunegaran, who also welcomed the idea,” Prof. Sahid stated.

With this assistance Prof. Sahid hoped that the equipment could be used well to support reserch development in the field of philology, literature, and language. “As an initiator, we are responsible to held training for manuscript maintenance and digitalization,” he added.

PUI Javanologi UNS Awareness on Old Manuscript Maintenance

In an interview with uns.ac.id, Prof. Sahid stated that his team is also aware of the manuscript maintenance in Sono Pustaka Keraton Kasunanan Hadiningrat. Prof. Sahid stated that he is concerned with Sono Pustaka Keraton Kasunanan Hadiningrat. According to the latest report he received, the library has roof leakage, which makes him want to save the old manuscript in Sono Pustaka Keraton Kasunanan Hadiningrat.

“We hope that not only Rekso Pustaka Pura Mangkunegaran but also Sono Pustaka in Keraton Kasunanan Hadiningrat (that receive assistance). Currently, Sono Pustaka library is closed, and we are very concerned with the manuscript condition,” Prof. Sahid said.

Prof. Sahid hopes that PUI Javanologi UNS could meet and ask permission from S.I.S.K.S Pakubuwana XIII to take care of and digitalize the old manuscript in Sono Pustaka Keraton Kasunanan Hadiningrat, similar to in Rekso Pustaka Pura Mangkunegaran.

“PUI Javanologi UNS will always be concerned and stay on the track that we think correct for the development of knowledge. Especially to encourage UNS as the center for Javanese culture development globally as a world-class university. We are ready to support from the cultural fields,” he concluded. Humas UNS
