The Public Relations Office and Media UNS were led by the Coordinator for Media, News Reporting, and Partnership, Dyah Yuni Kurniawati, S.Sn., M.Sn and was welcomed by the Chief of BKHM ITB Dr. Naomi Haswanto, M.Sn and her team in Rapim A Room ITB Ganesha Campus, Bandung.

This visit aims to learn and conduct a comparative study, as well as strengthen the relationship between universities. In her official release, Dyah stated that BKHM ITB is an appropriate example and place to learn because BKHM ITB has qualified experience in the public relations field. She also considers that BKHM ITB has demonstrated its ability to maintain ITB image at the national and international levels.

“This (visit) is like a visit from younger brother to their older brother, considering UNS is considerably younger than ITB and has the richer experience, especially in public relations,” Dyah stated.

During the discussion session that ran for around 1.5 hours, the Public Relations Office and Media UNS listened to a material presentation from BKHM ITB on crisis management, website management, international branding strategy, and strengthening the relationship with media and release production. On the occasion, the Chief of BKHM ITB also shared the function and performance of public relations implemented in ITB and its role in supporting the campus information sources for external media, especially during the COvid-19 pandemic.

“We welcome the Public Relations Office and Media UNS in our campus. Although UNS is considered young, it does not rule out the possibility that the younger could surpass the older because of the rapid technology development is,” Dr. Naomi stated.

The visit to BKHM ITB was concluded with a collective picture and delivering the UNS Magazine and a token of appreciation to Dr. Naomi Haswanto, M.Sn. Humas UNS

UPK ITS was led by Dr. Umi Laili Yuhana and the Chief of UPK ITS Anggara Ayu Rucitra S.T., M.MT and team. The group was welcomed directly by the Chief of UNS Public Relation and Media Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto in Ruang Sidang IV dr. Prakosa Rectorate Building UNS.

The visit was held as a return visit for UNS Public Relation and Media, who visited ITS the previous month. UPK ITS also wants to strengthen the relationship and shared knowledge in the public relations field with UNS Public Relations and Media.

“Thank you to UPK ITS for visiting UNS. This is like a brotherhood relationship considering UNS is a young PTNBH. Hopefully, we could learn from each other,” Dr. Deddy stated.

Dr. Deddy also asked UPK ITS to transfer their knowledge in public relations from how to build a relationship with media, information dissemination, and data management in ITS.

“Hopefully, we could learn about PPID and how UPK ITS created its releases so that we could develop,” he added.

On the occasion, Dr. Umi also thanked UNS Public Relation and Media for welcoming her group. Before starting the discussion, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto also thanked UPK ITS for the visit, which marks a good relationship between both universities with Public University with Legal Entity (PTNBH)

“We want to share because public relation now is online, and public relation is in the front line for a university. There will be several issues in the public relations field,” Dr. Umi stated. Humas UNS

In his remark, the Chief of Public Relations Office and Media UNS, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto, introduced the team of UNS Public Relations Office and Media and shared the programs of his office to Untidar.

“We are from Public Relations Office, and Media UNS thanked Untidar Public Relations to UNS,” Dr. Deddy explained.

Dr. Deddy hoped that through this visit, both institutions could exchange information. “(We) could learn from each other, UNS could learn from Untidar, and Untidar could gain new knowledge to be implemented in their university after coming back from UNS,” he added.

The Coordinator for Planning, Collaboration, and Public Relations Affairs Untidar, Sulistyaningrum, S.E., stated her intent and purposes of visiting UNS. Sulistyaningrum mentioned that Untidar Public Relations Office wants to learn from UNS Public Relations Office with its experiences.

“UNS has University with Public Entity (PTNBH) status, and Untidar wanted to learn from UNS. Hopefully, the knowledge sharing could be applied in our institution, Untidar Public Relations Office,” Sulistyaningrum stated. Humas UNS

The Chief of Public Relations Office and Media UNS, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto, mentioned in his opening remark that the workshop invited two speakers, the Chief of Public Relations Office Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), Vinda Maya S. Sos., M.A., and the Expert Advisor for Central Information Commission RI, Siti Ajijah S.H., M.H.

The Public Relations Office and Media UNS invited all public relation officer in faculties, institutes, and units in UNS to participate in the workshop. “In this workshop we invited the experts in their fields. Hopefully, the public relations officers in UNS could learn, expand their knowledge in public relation, branding, data, and information from the speakers,” Dr. Deddy stated.

As the first speaker, the Chief of Public Relations Office Unesa, Vinda Maya S. Sos., M.A. shared Branding material and invited the participants to create branding for their institution. “In branding, we create it, but other people judge it,” Vinda stated. she also added that “Public relations officers must understand branding. Don’t be careless; if you do not maintain your branding, it might be lost.”

The second speaker, Expert Advisor to the Central Information Commission RI, Siti Ajijah S.H., M.H., delivered materials on Public Relation’s role in Serving Public Information. Siti Ajijah stated that public information is the information created, stored, managed, and/or received by a public institution related to the organizers and administration of the state and/or organizers and administration of other public bodies in line with the law as well as other information related to the public interest.
