Quoting the Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah verse 183, Prof. Yunus stated that Ramadan is a holy month to build one’s taqwa. In the event held on Monday (4/4/2022), Prof. Yunus also recited the same surah in verse 184 on the criteria for exception and what people need to do when they cannot fast during Ramadan. The explanation was followed by verse 185 on more detailed criteria and exemption from fasting and how people substitute their fasting.

Prof. Yunus also explained the characteristics of taqwa: people who are always ready to perform Allah’s teaching and avoid all prohibited actions. The characteristics are explained in Surah Al-Baqarah verses 3-4, including those who believe in the existence of the unseen, do salah, donate their income, believe in Muhammad and previous books, and believe in the afterlife. These characteristics are supported by verse 177 with additions of believing Allah SWT, the judgment day, angels, the religious books, and the prophets. People with taqwa have behaviors mentioned in QS. Ali Imran verse 134-135.

“People who are istiqamah in donating, control their anger and forgive others, and repent to Allah immediately,” Prof. Yunus explained.

Prof. Yunus also explained the rewards for pious people, as mentioned in QS. Ali Imran verse 146. Allah SWT loves people who are patient when facing difficulties, as mentioned in QS. At-Talaq verse 2, that pious people will find a way out of all problems they faced, ensured of their sustenance (verse 3), sins erased, and reward multiplied (verse 5).

“Hopefully, Allah SWT always guides us to become a pious people. Hopefully, we could have our fasting and other Ramadan worship smoothly. Hopefully, our deeds and prayers are answered by Allah, and we return to our purity,” Prof. Yunus concluded. Humas UNS

Ahmad Yunus, M.S. In the opening remark, Prof. Yunus hoped that the program was blessed and was grateful that the program was completed.

“This is an agenda that is usually held during UNS Anniversary and nearing Ramadhan,” Prof. Yunus added.

Prof. Yunus also appreciated the program because the participants have completed reading Al-Qur’an marked with the recitation of khotmil Qur’an prayer in the program.

“Thank you to the management of NH for celebrating UNS 46th Anniversary through various activities, including this Al-Qur’an full reading program,” Prof. Yunus stated.

As mentioned by Prof. Yunus, the program was held in Nisfu Syaban night on 18-19 March 2022, a special night before entering Ramadhan month.

“Therefore, this Al-Qur’an full reading program is a form of preparation to welcome Ramadhan month, and hopefully, we could carry out the worship with solemn heart, especially in read Al-Qur’an fully,” Prof. Yunus concluded. Humas UNS

The Friday Prayer speech was delivered by Drs. KH M. Dian Nafi, M.Pd. as the Administrator of PP Al Muayyad Windan. The Nurul Huda Mosque itself is a campus mosque that serves as the center of Islamic activities and dissemination in the UNS environment. Before leaving the venue, President Jokowi prayed with the UNS Leaders. The Friday prayer also marks the end of President Jokowi’s working visit to UNS.

Before this Friday’s Prayer, President Jokowi attended the Academic Senate Open Session for UNS 46th Anniversary at UNS Tower. In the Open Session of the Academic Senate, President Jokowi inaugurated the UNS Tower Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building, UNS Vocational School Campus at Madiun Campus, and visited the UNS Innovative Products Exhibition at Solo Technopark (STP).

“We thank Mr. President Joko Widodo for attending the peak of UNS 46th Anniversary, inaugurating the UNS Tower Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building, inaugurating the UNS Campus in Madiun Regency, reviewing the exhibition at STP, and Friday prayers at the UNS Nurul Huda Mosque,” said Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho. Accompanied by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., the Director of Academic Reputation and Student Affairs UNS, Dr. Sutanto, S.Si., DEA., and STP Director, Yudit Cahyanto N.S, President Jokowi reviewed the results of innovative products from each stand.

UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., reported all active contributions made by UNS in order to build an economic recovery. These steps aim to collectively encourage innovation development and raise social capital to rebuild national social and economic recovery. UNS has actively collaborated with STP to build an applied education space and prepare MSMEs for onboarding their businesses directly at Indonesia’s creative economy unicorns through the creative economy sector.

“The UNS commitment is symbolized by the inauguration of the 3rd UNS campus gate, which directly faces Solo Technopark,” said Prof. Jamal on the sidelines of the UNS Academic Senate Open Session for the 46th Anniversary (Friday, 11/3/2022).

Prof. Machasin states that the Prophet Muhammad SAW witnessed many things during the Isra Mi’raj. One of the things explained in the Prophet’s hadeeths concerns Paradise and Hell. In Hell, the Prophet saw a person who cut off his tongue continuously even after it grew back. The said person was described as someone who always lied in his lifetime. This story set a reminder for people not to tell lies, as explained by Prof. Machasin. He also reminded the importance of telling the truth, not spreading lies or false news, and constantly verifying the received information.

“There are a lot of people nowadays who will immediately believe information received, and they don’t look deeper or try to find out the truth. Even if the information may not be correct,” said Prof. Machasin.

The Professor of Islamic Cultural History at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN) Yogyakarta also explained the relevance of Isra Mi’raj’s events to the story of Bani Israel. He said that the Bani Israel had made two mischiefs, and Allah SWT had repaid them by sending another group. It is written in the Surah Al-Isra of the Qur’an, where the Surah also told about the Prophet Muhammad Isra Miraj. The experience of the Bani Israel, according to Prof. Machasin, should be a reminder that there will always be something in return.

The Professor who served as the Director-General of Islamic Community Development of the Ministry of Religion in 2014-2016 emphasizes that negligence or destruction done by humans will cause disaster as a consequence. Such a disaster would undermine the order of human life. “The law of cause and effect has been proven. Damage to the Earth will cause instability in the order of life and bring disaster to humanity, both physical and nonphysical. This fact needs to be realized by people who are entrusted as leaders because their negligence can damage the earth’s order,” he explained.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Machasin invites participants to always pay attention to the signs given by God. These signs need to be learned to improve the quality of life in this world by adhering to strong religious teachings. “In this life, there are signs of God that we must know, understand, and use to improve our life. This Isra Mi’raj event strengthens the relationship between God and man,” he concluded.

This two-hour Isra Miraj’s commemoration was attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, the UNS Vice-Rectors, the Trusteeship Council (MWA), members of the senate, lecturers, and students. Humas UNS

Isra Mikraj’s memorial was held virtually through the Zoom Cloud Meetings platform. Taking on the theme of “Uncovering the Divine Secrets Behind the Prophet Muhammad SAW Great Isra Mikraj,” this memorial invited the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) for Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Prof. Dr. H. M. Machasin, M.A.

Prof. Machasin has served as the Chairman of MUI DIY since December 2021. Aside from serving as the Chairman of MUI DIY, Prof. Machasin is also an active permanent Professor in Islamic Cultural History at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Previously, he also served as the Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance, Ministry of Religion, Republic of Indonesia, in 2014-2016. This Isra Miraj’s commemoration was attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, UNS Vices-Rector, members of the Board of Trustees, as well as all UNS lecturers and students.

Prof. Jamal, in his remarks, states that the current development of information technology can little explain the Isra Mikraj event experienced by Prophet Muhammad SAW.

“One of the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad is the Isra Mikraj process, which is an extraordinary event and is even very difficult to accept for the human mind. Many things happened during the Isra Miraj; for example, in a very short time, as the miracle of the Prophet, he was led to the seventh heaven. But this miracle can be explained by modern information technology today,” said Prof. Jamal.

This statement was approved by Prof. Machasin. He said that the Isra Mikraj were extraordinary events. It was so incredible, and many people did not believe the event at that time.

Further, Prof. Machasin explained that, at that time, the reality of the Isra Mikraj events must be explained in an imaginative language for the people of the Prophet to get an idea of how the events took place. “The reality captured by humans and the reality of physics is indeed different. So, if the Isra Mikraj incident is considered imaginary, it is reasonable because, indeed, our thoughts are not up to digest the knowledge. However, one thing needs to be believed that Isra Miraj can strengthen our belief in religious life,” said Prof. Machasin.

For an hour and a half, Prof. Machasin explains various values that can be quoted from the Isra Mikraj event. Prof. Machasin’s explanation was listened to by more than 200 participants who attended Zoom from the beginning to the end of the session. Humas UNS
