UNS – In celebration of its 49th Dies Natalis, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta solidified strategic Cooperation Agreements (PKS). These agreements aim to enhance its impact and relevance on a broader community scale. Through these partnerships, UNS aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and national development while strengthening ties with various institutions.

Key Collaborations to Boost National Development

UNS partnered with the Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag RI) and PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Tengah (Bank Jateng). PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. It also collaborated with PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing effort to enhance educational quality, research capabilities, and community service.

Commitment to Societal Impact

The Open Session of the Academic Senate took place at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium on Tuesday (11/3/2025). UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., emphasized the university’s dedication. He asserted UNS’s commitment to becoming a relevant higher education institution. He also highlighted its commitment to making a positive impact on society. He pointed out that these strategic collaborations would play a significant role in supporting government programs. They would also help address societal challenges through innovation and synergy.

The DREAMTEAM Program

These partnerships are part of the DREAMTEAM program, focusing on Digital, Research, Education, Autonomous, Modern, Together, Equilibrium, Active, and Manpower. This comprehensive initiative aims to strengthen UNS’s global competitiveness while supporting local development. In 2024 alone, UNS successfully signed 73 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU). Additionally, it established 494 Cooperation Agreements (MoA) with both national and international institutions.

Collaboration with Kemendag RI for National Export Development

The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS, Dr. Didik Gunawan Suharto, S.Sos., M.Si., signed the PKS with Kemendag RI. The Director-General of National Export Development at Kemendag RI, Fajarini Puntodewi, S.H., M.Si., signed the agreement. This collaboration aims to enhance education, research, and community service, particularly in developing export-oriented MSMEs. The agreement is valid for two years and includes activities such as student competitions, workshops, and capacity-building programs for MSMEs.

Research and Development with PT KAI

UNS partnered with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) to focus on research and development in history and asset security. UNS Vice Rector for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fitria Rahmawati, S.Si., M.Si., signed the agreement with KAI’s Safety & Security Directorate. The agreement aims to preserve historical assets and provide practical learning experiences for students. The PKS includes guest lectures by railway industry practitioners, academic seminars, and training on the historical ownership of assets. This agreement will be valid for one year.

Enhancing Education Quality with Bank Jateng and Bank Mandiri

UNS also signed agreements with Bank Jateng and Bank Mandiri to support higher education quality and infrastructure development. UNS Vice Rector for Resources, Prof. Dr. E. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Si., CFrA., signed the PKS with Bank Jateng. Bank Jateng’s Director of Institutional Business, Treasury, and Sharia Business Unit, Ony Suharsono, participated in the signing. This collaboration focuses on financial literacy programs, scholarships, and funding support for student activities.

Similarly, Prof. Muhtar signed the agreement with Bank Mandiri. A representative from Bank Mandiri was the Senior Vice President, Aland Rinny Patity. This partnership aims to enhance academic infrastructure and provide financial management training for students and staff. Both expect the agreements to significantly improve the learning environment and support innovation.

Expanding International Networks

In addition to national partnerships, UNS has also been actively expanding its international collaboration. By signing MoUs with universities and research institutions abroad, UNS seeks to enhance student exchange programs. It also aims to promote joint research projects and capacity-building initiatives. These efforts align with UNS’s vision to become a world-class university that contributes to global knowledge production.

These strategic partnerships reflect UNS’s commitment to advancing education, research, and community service. By strengthening its cooperation network with key institutions, UNS continues to make a tangible contribution to national development and societal well-being. Through initiatives like the DREAMTEAM program and international collaborations, UNS aims to become a leading force in innovation and education in Indonesia. It also strives to make an impact on the global stage.

Humas UNS

Scope of Cooperation

The agreements consist of a collaboration between UNS and IMLI and another between LPPM UNS and IMLI. The partnership between UNS and IMLI covers areas such as research and community service, the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, and human resource development.

Meanwhile, the cooperation between LPPM UNS and IMLI includes material verification in the production process, evaluation of material utilization according to company standards, and preparation of verification reports for further assessment. Additionally, the agreements include a specific contract focusing on material usage verification within the production process.

In her remarks, Prof. Fitria Rahmawati stated that this collaboration builds on the 2022 initiative by the Clean Energy Task Force of the UNS Board of Professors. IMLI’s business model, which emphasizes recycling, aligns with UNS’s clean energy vision. Both institutions have conducted mutual visits over the years to explore potential collaborations.

“IMLI was chosen because its recycling-based business model, producing metals from recycled materials, aligns with UNS’s vision of clean energy,” Prof. Fitria explained.

She also highlighted the tangible outcomes of this partnership, such as the internship opportunities. UNS has facilitated students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and the Faculty of Engineering (FT). These students gained hands-on experience through fieldwork at IMLI. Additionally, the Matching Fund program, led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Kristiawan, S.T., M.T., has been successfully implemented.

“In the future, this collaboration will be further strengthened through activities such as research, internships, and practitioner teaching programs,” she added.

IMLI’s Chief Executive Technology Officer, Surya Widada, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, praising UNS as a trusted institution to act as a material verifier in IMLI’s production processes. He commended UNS for its advanced knowledge and its alignment with IMLI’s vision for clean energy.

“We see UNS as a strategic partner with strengths in scientific expertise. Sharing the same vision of clean energy, we trust UNS to provide reliable verification for our production processes, particularly in recycling-based smelter operations,” Surya stated.

This collaboration is expected to benefit both parties in the academic and industrial realms. By combining UNS’s expertise as a leading higher education institution with IMLI’s experience in recycling-based metal industries, this partnership represents a significant milestone in advancing clean energy and sustainability initiatives. UNS remains committed to fostering strong synergies with industrial partners to support scientific and technological advancements while making tangible contributions to national development.

UNS — Next year, 2022, will mark the start of the digital television era in Indonesia. The migration from analog broadcasting into digital broadcasting demands appropriate steps and strategies in producing information through communication channels. Based on this phenomenon, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta started a collaboration with PT. Media Televisi Indonesia (Metro TV) on Thursday (16/12/2021) in Ruang Sidang 1 Dr. Prakoso Building UNS.

The collaboration between Metro TV and UNS will synergize three activities, education, research, and community services. The collaboration also covers the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), instructed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbduristek).

The Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Sajidan, M.Si., who represented the Rector of UNS, attended the signing ceremony directly. Prof. Sajidan stated that this collaboration is a means to align the academic, business, and industrial worlds. Prof. Sajidan also thanked Metro TV for the collaboration and the opportunity for an internship for Communication Science Program faculty members.

“In the digitalization era, we need to continue our self-development. In this context, the MBKM program has brought campuses closer to the business and industrial world that is expected to equip university students and faculty members to accelerate the education 4.0,” Prof. Sajidan stated.

UNS — Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program promoted by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology – Nadiem Makarim, requires university students to have an opportunity to learn outside the campus. This program encourages the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta to collaborate with several parties, including Solo International Performing of Art (SIPA).

SIPA is an international event held annually. Through this event, students could get involved to be a facilitator that trains their communication skills and build networking with international partners. This opportunity was observed by the Dean of FIB UNS, Prof. Dr. Warto, M.Hum, who considers students’ involvement in SIPA will equip them in working in the future. Therefore, FIB UNS received the visit from SIPA Director, Dra. R.Ay. Irawati Kusumorasri, M.Sn.

The visit also serves as a signing ceremony for Collaboration Agreement (PKS) on Internship Practice, Curriculum Development and Preparation of Semester Learning Plan (RPS), and teaching. As reported by fib.uns.ac.id, Prof. Warto welcomed the visit from Dra. R.Ay. Irawati, who is also an alumnus of English Language and Literature Program FIB UNS, in Ruang Sidang 1 Building III FIB UNS on Friday (12/11/2021).

“Welcome back Mbak Ira. We are proud of the visit. We also hope that through this collaboration, our students could learn from SIPA how to manage the event as a student’s internship program,” Prof. Warto stated in his remark.

A similar notion was shared by Dra. R.Ay. Irawati. For her, the collaboration between FIB UNS and SIPA is her gratitude for her almamater.

“I felt honored to have an opportunity to build a partnership with FIB UNS. Thank you for giving (me) a way to share experiences and knowledge on how to hold or manage an event,” she stated.

After the signing ceremony, Prof. Warto asked Dra. R.Ay. Irawati to share her experience in initiating SIPA. Dra. R.Ay. Irawati shared that SIPA was born due to her interest in culture, which encourages her to hold an event that entertains and educates people on inter-nations Performing Art.
UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is collaborating with the Employees Social Security System (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan). This partnership was marked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signatory on Friday (12/11/2021) at UNS Inn. The collaboration covers education, research, community service, and the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program implementation.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan, and the Director for General and Human Resources (HR) BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Abdur Rahman Irsyadi. Aside from the collaboration with the university, BPJS also collaborates with several faculties in UNS. Some of these faculties are the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), the Faculty of Law (FH), and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP).

In his speech, Prof. Sajidan expressed his appreciation to BPJS for the opportunity to establish the partnership. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for this collaboration. Hopefully, this collaboration can be implemented in the form of various beneficial activities, such as guest lectures, webinars, and other MBKM-related activities,” said Prof. Sajidan.

He also left a message that this collaboration shall be signed and implemented through ongoing joint collaboration. He also invited the faculties in UNS to work together to start developing programs that could be carried out alongside BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

Meanwhile, Abdur Rahman Irsyadi, the Director of General and HR in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, said that his party was very open to various activities to implement the MoU.

“Later on, we will also start students’ internship program for 2-3 months in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The internships program at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will provide a certification of expertise for the interns. We will also provide incentives for students. This is also to support the MBKM program,” said Abdur.

The partnership between UNS and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will be valid for three years, effective since this signatory ceremony. However, the collaboration can be extended when deemed necessary after its expiration date. Humas UNS

The recent addition to its wide collaboration network was marked by a signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT. Nihon Seiki Indonesia on Friday (12/11/2021). PT. Nihon Seiki Indonesia is a Foreign Investment Firm (PMA) from Japan that is engaged in electronic and automotive components in Bekasi, West Java.

The MoU was signed directly by Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS Prof. Sajidan and General Manager PT.
This MoU aims to synergize the potentials and resources from both institutions in achieving collaboration in education, research, community service, and development of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in UNS. In his opening remark, Prof. Sajidan stated that the MoU covers three agreements with PT. Nihon Seiki Indonesia.

“This Memorandum of Understanding covers education, research and community services, MBKM implementation, and opens possibilities for other collaborations agreed by both institutions in a written agreement,” Prof. Sajidan mentioned.

Representing the Rector of UNS Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, who could not attend the ceremony, Prof. Sajidan hoped that the signed MoU could be implemented well. He also hoped that the agreement would not stop as a ceremonial occasion and emphasized the importance of commitment in implementing the agreement, especially in supporting the MBKM program in UNS.

“As always mentioned by the Rector, MoU should not stop at signing. It needs to be implemented. Besides, now, we need a link and match between industry and university,” Prof. Sajidan added.

General Manager PT. Nihon Seiki Indonesia Widodo Bodro Husodo, S.E., shared his thanks to UNS for the ceremony. Representing PT. Nihon Seiki Indonesia, he stated that his party would fully support the development of students’ skills, especially in industrial practice, because students are demanded to master the material and understand the implementation of knowledge they learn in the university.

“This is vital. Maybe later, UNS could send their students to learn at our place. And UNS research finding could be useful for what we are doing and for students,” Widodo stated. Humas UNS

UNS — The Immigration Office Class 1 TPI Surakarta opened the Eazy Passport Service at the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) for Partnership and International Services (KLI) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta on Thursday (11/11/2021). The opening of the event was marked with Taiko play, a traditional Japanese musical instrument, by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Sajidan, alongside the Head of KLI UNS, Rino Ardhian Nugroho, Ph.D., the Head of the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, Dwi Anandita Hari Wibowo, MH., and the Head of the Information Technology and Communications Section for the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, Sri Marhaeni Yuliastuti.

In his remarks, the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Sajidan, accompanied by the Head of UPT KLI, Rino Ardhian Nugroho, Ph.D., expressed his appreciation to the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, who takes the initiative for proposing Eazy Passport service to UNS. “The Eazy Passport service will facilitate the UNS Academic members during a passport application and renewal process,” explained Prof. Sajidan.

Prof. Sajidan added that the service is excellent to provide immigration services for the UNS Academic Members, including international students studying at UNS. “Through the Eazy Passport service, hopefully, the management process can be faster and more effective,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, Dwi Anandita Hari Wibowo, MH., said that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic had limited all aspects of life. The community members as passport applicants also have concerns regarding the need to go to the immigration office to apply for a new passport or replacement for an expired passport.

“This Eazy Passport service innovation is a convenience of services carried out outside the immigration office. Thus, the public does not need to apply for queue registration online through the Online Passport Queue (APAPO) application. This Eazy Passport service is a form of our determination to provide excellent service to the community, especially to the UNS Academic Members,” said Dwi Anandita.

Dwi Anandita hopes that the Eazy Passport service located at UPT KLI UNS can increase service satisfaction for the community, especially the UNS Academic Members.

Moreover, it turns out that the public’s interest in using the Eazy Passport Service is very high. A total of 95 people used the Eazy Passport Service at UPT KLI UNS to either apply for a new passport or extend their passport’s validity period. Humas UNS
