After the Faculty level selection, there was the university level selection with several extensive assessments such as superior achievements, Indonesian and English presentations, creative ideas, and psychology tests. Each student awarded 1st place in the undergraduate and diploma program will represent UNS in the National Pilmapres organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The award ceremony was attended directly by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, and the Head of the Academic and Student Bureau, Drs. Rohman Agus Pratomo. In his remark, Prof. Yunus said that this Pilmapres is very important because it can support the university’s achievements. “If any of UNS students win the championship nationally or even internationally, it will promote the university honor. Moreover, students’ reputations will also be improved because they will get the added value, as specified on their SKPI. This achievement will also increase graduates’ competitiveness after their graduation,” said Prof. Yunus.

Moreover, the finalists’ creative ideas can also open up opportunities for research and innovation because they bring out ideas that can solve various problems in society. The Chief of Academic and Student Affairs Bureau Rohman Agus Pratomo explained that these 12 finalists had attended various stages of rigorous selection. Two representatives from each faculty and UNS Vocational School were also selected at the university level to determine the top six UNS Outstanding Students. “I express my deepest appreciation for all UNS Mawapres finalists who have to compete in this selection,” said Drs. The event coordinator and Excellent Student of the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) 2021, Namira Putri Imani, stated that the program was held due to the lack of preparation for students participating in Pilmapres. Many students have limited information on Pilmapres. Thus, they lacked preparation and seemed to give suboptimum efforts. “There is also low competent students’ participation in Pilmapres, because the lack of and sudden information on Pilmapres they (competent students) did not participate (in Pilmapres),” she explained to uns.ac.id on Wednesday (23/2/2022).

Namira hoped that the roadshow could provide a new perspective for students that achieving excellence is exciting and everyone could achieve such excellence. In the roadshow at the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS on Wednesday (23/2/2022), three excellent students (Mawapres) were invited as speakers; Pradana Ricardo (Mawapres 3 UNS), M. Fuadi Hakimi (Mawapres FT), and Tara Nabila (Mawapres FT).

Pradana Ricardo or Ricard shared his experiences and tips in Pilmapres. The 3rd winner of Pilmapres UNS 2021 stated that students need to prepare spirits, and they should not be afraid to participate. “Prepare well and follow the guidelines,” Ricard stated. He also suggested that all Mawapres candidates prepare their excellent performances to enter the final round. The excellent performance includes creation, volunteering, awards to organizational career.

“These excellence achievements could be mixed to create a comprehensive result. (You) need to pay attention to the level to get high points. Creative ideas should be prepared under the topic that aligns with the educational background to ensure that the discussion is comprehensive, real, and probe deeper according to the scientific perspective,” he added.

Before concluding the session, Ricard also shared tips to prepare a good public speaking through training. Humas UNS
