The team members consisted of Hafida Salsabila, Tri Rahmaji, Sukmo Utomo Abdillah Amin, Muzakiya Lailatul Karima, Hasna Fatin Hanifah, Muhammad Dzaky Musyaffa, Muhana Fawwazy Ilyas, Muhammad Dzaki Darmawan, Inas Nuha Mumtazah, Hanifah Fathimatuzzahrah, Gading Nasywaa Aji Azzahra, Shastri Cahyaningtyas, and Hidayat Fatahillah. The team was supervised by Dr. Revi Gama Hatta Novika, SST., M.Kes and Ubaidillah, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.

Dr. Revi Gama Hatta Novika, SST., M.Kes, stated that the product prototype was funded by MBKM Grant and supported by the National Research and Innovation Center (BRIN) Indonesia in the product development stage. The product was named Effleurage Robot, a pain-relieving innovation for mothers experiencing labor contractions or before labor.

Dr. Revi discussed the idea with Ubaidillah, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Rufidah Maulina, SST., M.Sc, Siti Nurhidayati, S.S.T., M.Keb, and Nurul Jannatul Wahidah, S.ST., M.Kes, and her students. The idea came from the Covid-19 condition, which prevented the soon-to-be-mother from having her family member accompany her and provided effleurage massages to reduce her muscle pain. “During the Covid-19 condition, (she) needs something to replace those family members’ role,” Dr. Revi explained on Thursday (24/2/2022).

Effleurage Robot is a chair robot that provides effleurage massage with strong, medium, and soft settings on pregnant women’s hips to reduce labor pain. The robot also reduces the work of people accompanying a mother in labor and is equipped with adjustable features that can be used when walking, sitting, and lying down. The study on Effleurage Robot effectiveness was implemented in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Hospital for a pregnant woman in 1^st stage labor. The research showed significantly reduced pain, showing high effectiveness for stage 1 labor.

Hafida Salsabila, the student coordinator, stated that she obtained lots of experiences and learned from her participation in the grant. The innovation was also submitted for Student Creativity Program (PKM), International essay competition, and MBKM Grant before finally winning the current competition in the Tertiary School category with Biotechnology and Health subtheme. She added that the midwifery and medical science students could prepare the idea of such a robot, but they need help from mechanical engineering to create such innovation. “Thus, the assembly process runs well and creates a usable tool,” she added on Thursday (24/2/2022).

The competition was held by the Malaysian Invention & Design Society (MINDS) in 1989 and was participated by students from various countries. ITEX is a platform for researchers to introduce their innovations and finding to the business community. It is always participated by universities, research institutes, individual researchers, young researchers, and companies. Humas UNS

Awalil Rifqi Kurnia Rahman, often known as Rifqi, managed to win 2nd Place in the Ideathon competition after defeating many rivals from various universities in Indonesia. This competition was organized by the Asian Medical Student Association (AMSA), University of Indonesia (UI), on February 24, 2022.

He explained that the competition consists of three stages. For the first stage, each participant must submit an abstract.

“Then, 25 of the best abstracts were selected, and 5 (five) of them were entitled to be team leaders through motivation letters sent together with abstracts. Thank God I am entrusted to be the team leader. It was quite hard, because of all the chairman, my CV was the most simple with limited experience. Team members will choose the chairman based on the CV submitted, and vice versa,” he explained to uns.ac.id, Tuesday (22/3/2022).

Rifqi is incorporated in a team consisted of participants from FK Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati and FK Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). Thanks to the solid cooperation, they were crowned 2nd Place. “We proposed an app called ‘Get Your Hero,’ a 3.0 web-based Emergency Installation (ER) Physician Telemedicine app for accident management powered by 5G networks for more effective and integrated pre-hospital care. Through the problems discussed in the finals session, we found problems in emergency services. This solution was proposed following the literature studies integrated to the latest technology,” he explained.

The second-semester student admitted that he did not expect it when he and his team were announced as the runner-up. “Initially, we are shocked because I think other competitors’ idea is much better. Hopefully, in the future, I can contribute more to the healthcare sector in Indonesia through innovation and other ideas,” concluded Rifqi. Humas UNS

The Lotus x Comrades Essay Competition 2022 was held by Management and Sciences University (MSU) Indonesian Society. Ricard submitted an essay on preserving Indonesian arts and culture through a transfer process using Penta helix collaboration system between institutions and stakeholders.

“I observed Indonesian arts and culture that were not preserved due to the lack of collaboration among all related parties in preserving the culture and arts. Many sectoral interests were also overlapping in managing culture and arts. This is my background to write the essay,” Ricard explained on Monday (21/2/2022).

The competition was held online from 5 January – 10 February 2022. All participants send their essays to the committee to be assessed. The announcement and closing ceremony were held on 13 February. Ricard stated that he was surprised and did not expect to win 1st place in the competition.

“Before the announcement, there was a talk show with the juries to discuss the submitted works. The jury stated that there were four strong essays, and one was from UNS. But I was unsure because the competitors were Indonesian students who studied abroad,” Ricard stated.

Ricard hoped that through the writing, Indonesian arts and culture could be preserved further by the community through a harmonious collaboration between related parties. Humas UNS

The Plastic Free Art Ocean Contest competition was held by Albatross Designs It, Australia, on 3-20 January 2022. In their poster, Andri and Alif discussed the sustainability of sea biodiversity. Their poster aims to educate the community to protect the marine ecosystem by not throwing wastes into the sea.

“We also included Indonesia cultural ornaments as the nation’s identity, for example, traditional clothing and iconic places in Indonesia,” Andri or Andre explained to uns.ac.id, Tuesday (15/2/2022).

Although Andre is currently studying in his last semesters and Alif was just graduated from UNS; however, both have high spirits to participate in student competitions. One hundred and sixty participants from six countries competed in the poster competition, and the winners were announced through pos-el and Instagram account @albatross_sailling.

“The first impression when announced as the winner was delighted because before we reached this (achievement), we went through many losings that built our spirit to participate in other competitions and win again,” Andre stated.

They hoped that through the poster, community members could participate in maintaining the marine ecosystem because it is one of the most significant sources of people’s livelihood and balancing other organisms on earth. Humas UNS

The team won over their competitors and brought the 1st place prize home. Khanif, the team leader, explained that they proposed the Joglo Kahuripan agrotourism concept. Their proposal is an agrotourism concept based on agricultural education that offers a ‘back to nature’ concept for the visitors through its integrated agriculture.

“Melon, fish, and maggot cultivation as the representative of life. We combined (the concept) with the local wisdom of Central Java culture, which is threatened with extinction,” Khanif explained to the uns.ac.id team on Friday (4/2/2021).

Khanif and the team consider the presence of agrotourism in the community is greatly needed to provide comprehension on the importance of the agricultural sector in the community while maintaining the high community interests toward the tourism sector. In Joglo Kahuripan, the offered agrotourism concept that introduces the plant cultivation process from the seedlings to harvesting.

Regarding the name of Joglo Kahuripan, Khanif explained that the name was selected because it could represent the agrotourism concept that the proposed. Joglo is the name of Central Java traditional house, while “kahuripan” means life. Thus, together the name means the center of life. Khanif stated in the interview that the team was delighted with their achievement.

“(We are) delighted because I have not participated in a competition for a long time. I could also collaborate with the fellows from engineering faculty,” Khanif explained.

To achieve their win, the group was challenged to combine the ideas from students from different disciplines and visualize their final idea. At the end of the interview, Khanif shared the importance of collaboration. “We do not need to be a specialist to be beneficial in a certain field. We could collaborate to create benefits. Collaboration is what we need,” Khanif stated. Humas UNS
