A brand serves as a means to differentiate one product or service from another, a promotional tool, and a guarantee of quality. The brand indicates what consumers would receive for using the brand. According to their performances, the brand has tiers ranging from generic to the famous brand. Generic brands generally do not have a high reputation and do not reflect a symbolic lifestyle both for users and technological applications. On the contrary, a famous brand has a high reputation, reflects symbolic meaning, and provides a touch of intimacy, familiarity, and myth that build a consumer’s psychological perception.

According to World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) famous brand has to be acknowledged in various relevant sectors in the community and covers extensive geographical areas. “Business owners need to reach these (criteria),” Dr. Yudho stated.

Business owners could conduct a survey to determine their consumer’s satisfaction level, considering that a geographical and segmentation could have numerous brands that lead to product competition. Therefore, to ensure a brand’s competitiveness, it needs to ensure the duration and geographical coverage of branding for the product.

Business owners could make use of Solo development into a new national economic epicenter due to its strategic position and the number of new national and international products that enter the region. Product branding must start from the vision and mission of the products as the fundamental values of brand identity. However, in this environment, business owners must maintain product reputation and quality assurance and build closeness with consumers.

“The community or consumer will remember that what differentiates one brand from another is the quality assurance of the products,” Dr. Yudho emphasized.

Business owners should also keep a close tab on their competitors and update information speed and accuracy in the digital era. Digitalization also pushes brand managers to adopt digital media in introducing their brands. Humas UNS

Guntur Hamzah; Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho; Dean of FH UNS, Prof. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani; Vice-Mayor of Surakarta, Drs. Teguh Prakosa; and Karanganyar Regent, Drs. Juliyatmono, M.M.

In his remark, Prof. Jamal expressed his happiness that the speech competition ran well.

“This proven that UNS is deemed worthy of being the driving force in socializing and spreading the values and norms of the state constitution that must be upheld by all walks of life,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The Secretary-General of MK, Prof. Guntur Hamzah, stated that there were 275 Village Chiefs who participated and sent a video for the competition, which was followed by election and assessment were performed to select five finalists in the semifinal round.

“A day before the final, yesterday, all finalists received materials on the issues regarding Pancasila and constitution. The material was delivered directly by Prof. Aswanto and Prof. Arief Hidayat. We thanked all participants and UNS as an initiator. Insyaallah, we will continue again at Central Java and even the national level,” Prof. Guntur mentioned in his remark.

Vice-Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa, reminded the participants that the competition is not solely to gain reward but also how the participants apply their idea in leading their region.

Vice-Chairman of MK, Prof. Aswanto, also hoped that all participants could learn the important points in this event. Hopefully, at least after this competition, there will be an improvement in constitutional knowledge at the first level of government.

“We are sure that as the front line, (the participants) need to follow the development. To maximize the services, (you) need to follow consolidation, both in literacy and knowledge,” he stated.

Following the opening remark, five finalists delivered their oration for 10 minutes. The finalists are Slamet Wiyono, Blulukan Village Chief, Colomadu, Karanganyar District; Tri Prasetyo Utomo, Srimulyo Village Chief, Gondang, Sragen District; Ardita Devi Mayasari, Pulisen Village Chief, Boyolali, Boyolali District; Martantyo Didik Purnomo, Tawangsari Village Chief, Karanganyar District; and Suparmanto, Slogoretno Village Chief, Jatipurno, Wonogiri District. Seventy village chiefs were scheduled to participate in the competition from all villages in the Solo Raya region, including Surakarta Municipality, Karanganyar District, Sragen District, Wonogiri District, Sukoharjo District, Klaten District, and Boyolali District. Prof. Aswanto explained that the competition is an effort to assess the village chief’s performance in ensuring the constitutional rights of their people. The faculty member of Universitas Hasanuddin also stated that village leaders are the spearhead of MK in providing constitutional services for the society.

“Bapak Ibu village chiefs have a strategic position as a spearhead in providing services for the community. Therefore, you can be considered by the community as an implementation of their rights as guaranteed in the constitution,” Prof. Aswanto stated.

Prof. Aswanto also emphasized that village chiefs need to provide good services for the community as mandated by the constitution. “The rights to be treated well, the right to be treated humanely,” Prof. Aswanto stated before adding that all of the practices need to be implemented daily in providing services for the community.

The opening ceremony was also attended directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho. Prof. Jamal stated that he is delighted with the event and views it as an exciting and important event.

“It is an honor for us to be trusted by MK to host this competition. Hopefully, the event could run smoothly until Saturday,” Prof. Jamal added.

The constitution speech is a competition held by MK RI in collaboration with FH UNS and was scheduled for three days from Thursday to Saturday (2—4 December 2021). Thursday (2/12/2021) was the first day of the competition with two agendas, the opening ceremony and briefing for participants. The briefing was provided by four speakers: Vice Chairman of MK, Prof. Dr. Aswanto, and three MK judges Prof. Dr. Arief Hidayat, S.H., MS.; Prof. Dr. Enny Nurbaningsih, S.H., M. Hum.; and Prof. Dr. Saldi Isra, S.H.

The competition started on the second day for elimination to semifinal rounds. The final round was held on Saturday (4/12/2021), followed by closing and announcement of the winner. Humas UNS

The classes discuss the detail of startup business and are open for all Indonesian people, especially those in Solo Raya. Hello Startup Solo Raya aims to educate the community and build people’s awareness of the startup sector. Its 7th class was held on Friday (26/11/2021) and discussed the “Financial Management: How to Manage Finance for Startup?” with professional speakers, Mario Andaru (Chief Executive Officer/CEO Koraroom) and Akhdan Faiz (Chief Financial Officer/CFO Koraroom).

In the intensive class, the speakers shared their experience and views on the financial management process in a startup. Opening the class, the CFO of Koraroom, Akhdan Faiz, shared his view on startup financial management and said that finance is not the main factor that determines the success of a startup.

“In the past, I thought that to build a startup needs the fund. It turned out that I was wrong. The vital part in establishing a startup is the timing,” Akhdan said. He continued with the applications used in managing Koraroom finance and added that managers need to select an application that meets their business needs.

The CEO of Koraroom, Mario Andaru, shared his strategy as a decision-maker in managing finance. He emphasized that startup founders should not be rushing and reminded the four main pillars in establishing a startup: finance, marketing, product, and human capital.

“Team is the main (factor). From the four pillars that I mentioned, human capital is the main. It is useless for us to create a product when we don’t have a team,” Maria added.

The class is expected to build awareness for startup founders, especially university students, to be careful in managing their business strategy. Humas UNS

During his visit, Guntur Hamzah was accompanied by the Dean of FH UNS, Prof. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani, and Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus. Guntur Hamzah stated that the facilities and infrastructures in UNS are appropriate.

“Alhamdulillah, the buildings are okay, and we do not need to prepare many things. The prepared facilities are excellent, from the lighting, cooling system, stage, are good, what left is the final touches,” he stated.

He explained that this review aims to ease his part in preparing a design for the grand final early next month.

“Hopefully, this event will run well, considering it is getting closer. Hopefully, it will benefit all Village Chiefs in Solo Raya,” he hoped.

The Chief of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Agus Riewanto, explained that currently, the selection process has started. All participants were asked to send a video to the organizing committee, who will select 70 best participants for an offline meeting, then select the Best 15 before selecting the Best 5. The Best 5 participants will compete in the final round on 4 December in UNS.

“Hopefully, it becomes a national pilot project and could be developed as a special characteristic of FH UN to hold special speech competition in building the constitution and awareness on the constitution,” Dr. Agus concluded.

The final round is scheduled to be attended by the Chairman of MK, Dr. Anwar Usman, and the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Humas UNS
