The Chief of Managing Committee of the talkshow, Prof. Dr. MTH. Sri Budiastuti, stated that this talkshow shared the stories from each invited professor in running their role as academia and a mom.

“In this occasion, eleven female professors will share the role of women who participate in advancing the nation, state, and their loved institution through a real work while performing their function as a partner for their husbands and mother for their children,” Prof. Tutik stated.

The eleven professors invited in this event are Prof. Dr. Wiedy Murtini, Prof. Dr. Izza Mafruhah, Prof. Dr. Siswandari, Prof. Dr. MTH. Sri Budiastuti, Prof. dr. Ari N. Probandari, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Chatarina Muryani, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu KRH, Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, Prof. Dr. Hartiwiningsih, Prof. Dr. Suciati, and Prof. Dr. Susy Susmartini.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, appreciated the talkshow and stated that these professors have a great role because they need to handle two roles, as a mother and academia in the campus. Prof. Jamal also revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic had put a more significant burden on the professors because they are demanded to do many things simultaneously.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has put enormous pressure on each family, including these female professors. The female professors had played a remarkable role in assisting and adapting to the new life. The role of a mother is tested to perform their role during Covid-19, not to mention amid the tumultuous activities of the mother,” Prof. Jamal stated.

Prof. Jamal also appreciated the role of female professors who continue to be active in educating the community through various means possible.

“I deliver my gratitude. I appreciate the UNS professor’s devotion, who continues to be the vanguard of academic research in Indonesia. Many webinars were held by UNS Board of Professors,” he added.

To celebrate the success of UNS female professors, Prof. Jamal presented a song, “Kasih Ibu” (Love of a Mother), for the attendees. He stated that this song fully describes the unlimited role of a mother in teaching and accompanying their children. Humas UNS

WCU Talkshow was held online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting application on Sunday (28/11/2021) and was attended by participants from UNS and outside UNS. The President of BEM UNS, Zakky Musthofa Zuhad, shared his hope that UNS could achieve WCU as targeted and that Seration Series 2021 is a place for students to take global action.

“This is a place for us as a university students to think globally, act locally. We need to encourage UNS to achieve WCU through our action that could be implemented well,” Zakky said.

The Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer.nat Sajidan, M.Si., attended the workshop and appreciated the initiative taken by BEM UNS that collaborates with the Directorate of Development Partnership and Internationalization UNS. Prof. Sajidan thought that BEM UNS idea was exceptional and hoped that after the event, BEM UNS could provide recommendation on the steps that could be taken by UNS to achieve WCU.

“This is a wonderful idea to discuss the condition in Asia and Europe. The objective is to get a comprehensive strategy from various universities that have achieved WCU. After this Seration, we hope BEM could provide a comprehensive recommendation to us on the strategy that we could take to achieve WCU,” Prof. Sajidan stated.

The Talkshow invited two keynote speakers and one guest star. The keynote speakers are the Education and Culture Attaché (Atdikbud) Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Germany, Prof. Ardi Marwan, and Board of Experts World Class University Ditjen Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and TecHumas UNShnology (Kemdikbudristek), Prof. Wawan Gunawan. dr. Nadhira Nuraini Afifa, M.P.H., was invited as the guest star for her achievement in graduating from Harvard University and delivering a valedictory in 2020 with a scholarship from LPDP.

WCU Talkshow is the finale of Seration Series 2021 that had a series of events including BEM UNS online visit study to various international universities such as Universiti Putra Malaysia and Bangor University, UK. Humas UNS

PUI Javanologi UNS will invite the Major of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and the Rector of UNS to provide an opening remark. Several invitees will also attend as speakers from Indonesia Embassies in various countries, including Mochammad Rizki Safary (KBRI New Delhi, India), H.E. Mayerfas (Indonesian Ambassador for the Netherlands), Julang Pujianto (Indonesian Ambassador for Suriname), Salman Al Farisi (Indonesian Ambassador for South Africa), Hendra Satya Pramana (Consulate General of Indonesia in Noumea, New Caledonia), and Deny W. Kurnia (Consul General of Indonesia for Shanghai, China).

In the release, Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo explained that the pandemic had affected various life aspects, including the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The theme represents his belief that MSMEs will recover post-Covid-19 pandemic. In Javanese culture, tunggak semi can be defined as an effort to develop civilization. Therefore, without forgetting the Javanese philosophy of the dynamic tunggak, the economy will continue to bloom after the pandemic.

“Tunggak is the remaining trunk of a cut-down tree. Even after the tree was cut down, tunggak will continue to bloom if it is taken care of and watered with the community creativity and innovation,” Prof. Sahid stated.

To support the revival of MSMEs in Surakarta, PUI Javanologi invited 26 MSMEs to exhibit their products. These MSMEs are Copper Leluhur (brass and copper crafts), Batik Nderbolo Kliwonan, Dharma Budaya (wayang kulit production center), Wedang Uwuh Java Drink (traditional culinary beverage), Pengrajin Blangkon Solo Agung TW, Chocotin (Tawangmangu chocolate gift), Lurik Rachmad (wastra lurik), Djamoe Bude (traditional Javanese jamu), Gayatri Jewelry (accessory industry), and other 18 MSMEs.

Prof. Sahid added that during the talkshow, the invited businesses would have an opportunity to deliver their ideas or suggestions. They also asked to submit issues that need to be discussed by the speakers during the talkshow. As the Chief of Committee, Dr. Dewi Retno Sari, said that an international course will follow this event.

“In October, we will launch the Teko Jahe (Intensive Virtual Course on Javanese Cultural Heritage) and Javanologi TV. We will also have an e-commerce program and international journal,” Dr. Dewi explained. Humas UNS

The talkshow is the last event in the LPDP UNS Scholarship Socialization program. The first series of this event was a webinar on “Tips for Preparing Personal Statement and Essay on Contribution for Indonesia”. The LPDP UNS Awardee Association chairman, Danan Tricahyono, S.Pd., stated that he is delighted with the participant’s enthusiasm.

“This talkshow is the second series and the last this year. The first series was held on 1 June 2021,” he explained.

In the event attended 450 participants, the committee invited LPDP Alumni and Talent Management Team, Mohammad Kamiluddin, and two alumni of LPDP awardees, Aan Khosihan, S.Pd., M.Sos., and Dian Rachmatika, S.Pd., M.A., as speakers.

Kamiluddin shared the requirements and stages in the LPDP scholarship selection process and discussed all requirements that applicants need to prepare. He also gave suggestions and motivations for applicants to be optimistic that they could win the scholarship.

“Give your best effort. If your way is through LPDP, inshaAllah, you will win the scholarship. If your way is somewhere else, there is the best way for you somewhere,” he stated.

Aan Khosihan shared tips and tricks for interviews based on his experience. The Sociology Program UNS graduate shared his advice on what applicants need to prepare before, during, and after the interview. Aan also shared his journey to apply for an LPDP scholarship for National Universities.

The third speaker, Dian Rachmatika, also shared her success story with winning the LPDP scholarship for her master’s study at the University of Southampton, UK. The YouTuber popular with her stage name, Dira, shared the “7 Ways to Make Your Interview Outstanding”. Dira said that research is vital for the applicant when writing their essay and going through the interview process.

The materials from the speakers successfully attracted participant’s attention which leads to an active question-and-answer session. Humas UNS
