“THE Asia University Rankings 2025 ranked UNS in the 401–500 band in Asia and among the top three universities in Indonesia. In its 2025 edition, THE evaluated Asian universities using five key pillars. Those are teaching, research quality, research environment, international outlook, and industry engagement.

Notably, UNS delivered outstanding performance in research quality and the research environment, significantly contributing to its national ranking.

Moreover, this recognition reinforces UNS’s vision to become a globally respected university. The university remains grounded in local wisdom while making real contributions to Indonesian society.

“With a firm commitment to academic excellence, innovative research, and active community engagement, UNS continues to grow. UNS has become one of the leading educational institutions in Indonesia. Its influence is expanding beyond Indonesia’s borders,” Prof. Hartono concluded.

In total there are 14 Indonesian universities ranked in THE Asia Rankings 2022. Beside UNS, there are several other Indonesian universities in the 401-500 ranking, namely Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University), Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), and Telkom University.

THE Asia University Rankings measure college performance based on five aspects. The five aspects are teaching (25%), research (30%), research influence-citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry income (7.5%). UNS scored 21.8 in teaching, 16.7 in research, 24.4 in citations, 25 in international outlook, and 38.3 in industry income.

The Director of Partnership, Development, and International UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D., stated that UNS was ranked 401+ worldwide in THE Young University Rankings 2022.

“In total, there are 539 universities listed in this ranking. This rank is special because UNS becomes the only public university in Indonesia included in the ranking,” Prof. Irwan explained on Wednesday (16/2/2022).

The private universities ranked together with UNS in THE Young University Rankings 2022 are Universitas Bina Nusantara (BINUS University) and Universitas Telkom (Telkom University).

Prof. Irwan added that THE Young University Rankings is a ranking for universities that are 50 years or younger. THE, the UK-based institution conducting the ranking, determined various indicators for universities ranked in their program.

The indicators are teaching (30%), research (30%), citations/research influence (30%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry income (2.5%).

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, shared that he was delighted with the UNS ranking in THE Young University 2022. He offered his gratitude to all support and prayers from UNS academic members who continuously contribute to the campus’ development at the international level.

“Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah, thank you for all the dedication for UNS,” Prof. Jamal stated.

He added that even though UNS is considered young, it has a multitude of achievements. Before being ranked in 401+ THE Young University Rankings 2022, UNS was ranked 6^th in Indonesia and 1144^th worldwide according to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2022. Humas UNS
