OPA 1.0 is an academic and non-academic student competition in Public Administration, State Administration, and Public Policy Management in Indonesia, organized by the Students Association of Public Administration, Padjajaran University. Attended by 16 Universities, OPA 1.0 has several branches of competition, namely mobile legend, virtual photoshoot, opinion, and infographics.

Dwi Kristiawan admitted that his experience in joining student organizations on campus and outside campus, which introduced him to the publishing sector, had helped him find his design and editing skills. His interest in participating in this competition was not only motivated by the skills he acquired but also because he felt that the competition theme was interesting. “Honestly, the theme was interesting, How to Stand in the Balance of Digital World and Society 5.0, the theme was suitable for the young generation,” he said, Friday (25/3/2022).

For Dwi, the reason to choose ‘Z Generation for Society 5.0, Z Generation (Gen Z) as the Spearhead of Digital Indonesia in the Society 5.0 Era,’ as his work title is based on two factors: adjusting to the predetermined theme, Dwi’s assumption on the root of Society 5.0 to have a human-centered basis. Therefore, future development requires efforts to build and optimize Human Resources (HR) potential to be ready in accepting a diversified transformation within numerous fields in the digitization era.

As for the focus on Gen Z, based on the research he has reviewed, Gen Z has a high sense of curiosity. The results of the population census in 2020 from the Indonesia Central Bureau of Statistics show that the percentage of the Indonesian population, based on generation category, is dominated by Gen Z compared to other generations. Also, according to the 2019 National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas), Gen Z has filled approximately 12 million productive and work-ready positions in Indonesia. The Gen Z tends to spend time in the digital world, where it is more convenient to search for information via the internet.

“These issues on the Society 5.0, when combined with the potential of Gen Z, especially in Indonesia, are a topic that I find interesting and could be the focus of discussion as well. Because in Society 5.0, people are required to adapt to high thinking abilities. And I think Gen Z is a generation that tends to be more adaptable to developments that lead to digitization,” said Dwi Kristiawan.

After obtaining this victory, Dwi Kristiawan hopes that the achievement can bring further motivation for himself and his fellow UNS students to be more productive in their work. Because when someone gets an appreciation, they will be more eager to try new things that can later be used as a personal branding and contribute to the alma mater honor. Humas UNS

Adila Arya Kusumastuti, Daffa Mudia Athifah, and Destya Vinka Wahyu Rosa Adinda, all from the Diploma Program (D-3) in Informatics Engineering, knew their triumph after FE UNU Yogyakarta announced the winners through their official Instagram account @bpc_unuyo on Wednesday (22/12/2021). The Team submitted a business plan on “The Effectiveness of Digital Web-based Guest Book in Managing Invitees” that was inspired by the shortcomings of the conventional paper-based guest book that is less effective, has a higher possibility to break, loss of data, and slow guest management process.

“Because the website development process aligns with our program, Informatics Engineering. Therefore, we want to develop this idea, and because of the pandemic, all activities could be slowed down if using a conventional guest book,” Daffa stated on Thursday (30/12/2021).

With the innovation, the Team could ease the invitees to attend an event. They do not need to write their name, signature, or address and only need to scan the barcode of their invitations. Daffa stated that the Team also employed UI/UX design to decorate the digital guest book and added interesting features for the book.

“We are interested in participating in this competition because previously in 2nd semester we won a business plan competition. Then when we learned about the competition, we took the opportunity and registered. Alhamdulillah, we brought home another 1st place,” Daffa stated.

When asked about the Team’s challenges during the preparation, Daffa stated that distance became their main issue because they could not meet and only discuss using video call application. Daffa added that they are all from different cities and only met during the final round. Besides the distance, the Team also needs to juggle their preparation with the Final Semester Exam concurrently. Thus, with their achievement, Daffa hoped that they could inspire other UNS students and develop their innovation to be used by the community in general. Humas UNS
