This international conference invited three main speakers, namely Indriya L. Sukomono, Ph.D., a Bahasa Indonesia Study lecturer from Yale University, New Heaven, USA; Yacinta Kurniasih, Ph.D. (cand)., another Indonesian Study lecturer from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia; and Dr. Uswatun Hasanah, M.Pd., the Head of Education and Culture Office for Central Java Province, Indonesia.

In her remark, the Head of the Doctoral Program in English Language Education Study FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Andayani, M.Pd., hopes for this conference to discuss urgent topics in the socio-humanities field.

“This international conference initiated by the Doctoral Program Alumni Association for the English Language Education (PBI) Study FKIP UNS goes by the name of 2nd ICHSS, where the first ICHSS was hosted in 2021. In total, there were 272 participants attending this conference, which consisted of lecturers from various universities. The planned output of this conference is a reputable international EAI-EUDL (European Alliance for Innovation-European Union Digital Library) indexed proceeding. This agenda is also expected to generate recent ideas in the Socio-humanities field,” explains Prof. Andayani.

The first material was presented by L. Sukmono, Ph.D., entitled, ‘Rise and Fall of Indonesian Language Learning for Foreign Speakers (BIPA),’ stating, “The Indonesian Language Learning for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) in Yale University, the USA has been going for a long time. Normally, BIPA students take Bahasa Indonesia classes in their first to the third semester. BIPA learning is usually offered for the undergraduate degree. However, Bahasa Indonesia is facing a great challenge in the USA region Because students tend to choose more popular foreign languages such as Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic,” he explained.

The next material was delivered by Yacinta Kurniasih, Ph.D. (cand)., from Monash University. In her session, she discussed material entitled ‘Globalizing Bahasa Indonesia? The World Needs Bahasa Indonesia! A Mission from Merdeka Belajar.’

“Bahasa Indonesia holds the most crucial part in Merdeka Belajar Program through the implementation of the government’s program in the ‘Merdeka’ curriculum. Globalizing Bahasa Indonesia can be done by using this language in international political forums, the establishment of Indonesian association (for research, networking, and participation), research on BIPA, Bahasa Indonesia application in product promotion, self-confidence improvement in using Bahasa Indonesia, and partnership improvement through language diplomacy,” explains Yucinta Kurniasih, Ph.D. (cand).

The following speaker, Dr. Uswatun Hasanah, M.Pd., explains about ‘Crucial Role of Bahasa Indonesia in 22nd Series of Merdeka Belajar.’

“Bahasa Indonesia literacy is one of the components in the higher education selection process. This literacy concept refers to individual competency in using all their resource in solving apparent problems, thus, literacy is not limited to reading and writing proficiency. There are three characteristics of a highly literate person, namely, adaptive livelihood, capability to make a positive contribution, and applicable solution,” explains Dr. Uswatun Hasanah.

The keynote material presentation was followed by a question and answer session at the end of the session. After the plenary session, participants were invited to parallel sessions at separate Zoom breakout rooms. Humas UNS

Prof. Zudan said that alumni, as part of IKA UNS, must maintain cordial relations. “This silaturahmi and halal bi halal among UNS alumni is a regular event organized by IKA UNS. Alhamdulillah, we can organize this year’s halal bi halal in a face-to-face event after two years of virtual Silaturahmi and halal bi halal because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, we still have to adhere to health protocols,” said Prof. Zudan in his remarks. Further, he added that with all the potential that IKA UNS has, alumni are trying to make efforts and unify ideas to promote UNS’s honor and reputation.

Following Prof. Zudan’s speech, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., remarked that he appreciated this silaturahmi and halal bi halal event organized by IKA UNS. “I would like to thank UNS alumni for their best contribution to UNS. Through this event, I hope we can improve the fellowship among alumni and strengthen the unity between us. Therefore, we must support this agenda as a successful annual event. Hopefully, we can continue to synergize together to establish UNS as the best Higher Education Institution in Indonesia,” said Prof. Jamal.

After the opening remarks, the event was followed by a Tausiyah (teaching) by UNS alumnus who currently serves as the President Commissioner of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Ustadz Adiwarman Azwar Karim. Ustadz Adiwarman explained the importance of establishing friendly relations (Silaturahmi) and contributing to the nation and state development. “Even though our status is now alumni, we must remain solid. For example, by organizing this silaturahmi and halal bi halal meeting. I am also proud of our alumni contributions to the national affairs, such as those who assisted roads construction, building construction, mosques, and many others,” explained Ustadz Adiwarman.

The event was also enlivened with live music from Bendera 80 Band. There is also doorprizes distribution with various prizes, including smart TV, air purifier, bicycle, and many other interesting prizes. The silaturahmi and halal bi halal event was attended by UNS alumni from 11 faculties and two schools, with the earliest graduation year in 1976 to the most recent graduation year in 2021. Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., in his opening remark, stated that the discussion was interesting and highly related to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia. “This discussion is highly beneficial for us; hopefully (we) could be better. It seems like the vaccination program also boosted for education and public in general,” Prof. Yunus stated.

As a representative from IKA UNS, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani, S.H., M.M., delivered her gratitude and appreciation for all speakers for sharing their perspectives in the health, economy, and psychology fields. “Hopefully, Wedangan series 100 could bring blessing and benefits,” she stated.

dr. Tonang Dwi Ardyanto, Sp.PK(K)., Ph.D., FISQua, shared materials from a healthcare perspective regarding whether Covid-19 could be transitioned to a lower level. He emphasized the decreased bed occupancy ratio in hospitals compared to the delta variant peak in July 2021. Considering the weekly cases from the delta and omicron national cases, Indonesia has succeeded in reducing positive cases significantly. However, dr. Tonang reminded us that the mortality rate remains dynamic and has not shown a stable decrease. “Especially when we heard about the domination of omicron BA.2 that was worried to cause significant symptoms for elderly, people with heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, and the like, although the cases have decreased,” dr. Tonang emphasized.

dr. Tonang added that daily cases still fluctuate according to the number of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests, indicating that cases could increase if PCR testing is increased. Regarding the transition into the endemic situation, dr. Tonang stated that it is not an ideal situation because the illness is still around, but the infection could be minimized. The transition also requires several indicators, including transmission rate below 1, positivity rate below 5%, hospitality rate below 5%, fatality rate below 3%, and movement control order level 1, for at least six months. The vaccination rate also plays a vital role in the transition process, with a minimum target of 70% of the population being vaccinated.

From the economic perspective, Budi Santoso, S.E., Ak., MForAccy., PGCS., CA., CFE., CPA., shared the challenges that will be faced one to two years in the future. According to The Global Risks Horizon 2021 data, from 2021 to 2023, Covid-19 became the main focus of business discussion, followed by technology and weaponry in the next five years. The World Economic Forum also predicted that financial services would develop into all digital services. The non-cash transaction was predicted to double. “Thus, business is expected to develop rapidly. It will be related to our and global economic situation regarding the Covid-19 situation,” he added.

Budi then discussed the sectors that are positively affected by the pandemic, the fields affected, and the strategies that could be sought to recover the national economy. The five strategies mentioned by Budi are increasing investment that directly affects the community, including infrastructure and facilities, increasing state income, reducing cost, increasing innovation, and supporting workforce readiness and skills.

From the psychological condition of the community, Rafika Nur Kusumawati, S.Psi., M.A., discussed that the community has started to move into the last stage of acceptance from the beginning of the pandemic that leads to denial, anger, and acceptance. She added that cognitive, affective, and social support are needed for the community to start changing.

Rafika also discussed the viral healing hashtag on social media and emphasized that the best healing is under the strict health protocol. She also shared various healing techniques such as guided imagery, self-talk, positive affirmation, and expressive writing. Humas UNS

“Initially, it was just a curiosity to fill my idle time while waiting for graduation around the end of 2016. But before that, people ask how come the clothes look good, where did I buy them or where they get tailored? Well, from that thought, I’m thinking of creating a dress product like this. After all, many were also interested in the model,” said Pingkan, Tuesday (1/3/2022).

Pingkan explains that the selection of the name Beauteeq is made of the word “beau” taken from the word beautiful and “teeq” taken from the word batik. So, Beauteeq means beautiful batik. “However, Beauteeq also produces clothing products other than batik, thus, complementing each other. Even though so, we must hold on to the main goal of Beauteeq, to bring clothes with a modern design with a traditional touch,” Pingkan said.

Pingkan adds that the uniqueness of Beauteeq is in its fresh and modern design but still leaves a traditional impression. Furthermore, Beauteeq products are also designed in a classic, timeless design; thus, they can maintain their good-looking appearance from year to year.

Pingkan admitted that during the Beauteeq establishment, she faced more joy than grief. “For my liking, I didn’t think I could actually put my creativity and work through the fashion industry. I was earning income and living in a field that I liked. Furthermore, it can also help support the people around (especially employees) through this small business,” said Pingkan.

However, Beauteeq was also hampered at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. “At that time, it was quite difficult for Beauteeq because most Beauteeq clothes were functional for a wedding reception. While at that time, this type of function was not allowed to be held. Our turnover is dropped to 10-20% from the previous year. It is barely going any further. However, I am grateful for resolving those hard times,” continued Pingkan.

The activities were initiated by the Internal Service and Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the FEB UNS. Dr. Atmaji, M.M., acting as Chairman of the Committee. The Reunion Meeting between the FEB UNS active and senior academic members was held in Pendopo Aula Suhardi, which is also known as Aula Gedung 3 FEB UNS. The event is not just a celebration like the usual Anniversary celebration. FEB UNS attempted to create a close family atmosphere and nostalgia in the faculty environment.

A number of FEB UNS seniors were present including Tjilik Suwito, Soetantyo, Sri Suwarsi, GAA Susilowati, Darustam, and Mahastuti Agung. The event is packed in a relaxed, joyful, intimate atmosphere that recalls numerous experiences during the FEB UNS establishment, along with a variety of sad stories.

Prof. Drs. Djoko Suhardjanto, M.Com, Ph.D., Ak., as Dean of FEB UNS in his remarks, said that events like this are significant. This meeting between seniors and juniors academic members allows the attending participants to find out and understand how FEB UNS was established. He also sent a message to the attending academic members to always live in harmony and tranquility within the faculty and university environment. This activity is also expected to be organized as a regular agenda.

Prof. Djoko Suhardjanto also expressed his gratitude to the seniors who had provided a strong foundation that allowed FEB UNS to have such achievements today. “Thank you to Mr./Mrs. Senior who has laid the foundation for the establishment of FEB. Without you, ladies and gentlemen, FEB UNS wouldn’t have been able to do this. And for juniors, don’t forget history. From the seniors, we can find out the historical facts of how FEB UNS was established with all its struggles. And this must be understood by all of us,” he stressed.

At the event, the Dean of FEB UNS also conveyed various achievements that FEB UNS has achieved to date. Since October 6, 2020, UNS has officially been a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), based on Presidential Regulation No. 56 of 2020 concerning UNS PTNBH. With that status, the objective to be a top 500 campus globally will be more and more likely to achieve.

FEB UNS itself is ranked +600 based on World Univerity Ranking (WUR). This faculty had conducted International Class Program for the Undergraduate Program in Accounting and Undergraduate Program in Development Economics. Another achievement was successfully obtaining the Kedaireka Matching Fund entitled “Educamp Wisata Preneur.” One of FEB UNS study programs, the Undergraduate in Economic Development Study Program, successfully established a cooperation program with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In addition, the Undergraduate in Management Study Program won the Independent Campus Competition Program Grant.

As for the upcoming plan in 2022, FEB UNS will establish a Bachelor in Digital Business Study Program and open an International class for the Bachelor in Management Study Program. FEB UNS is also trying to accelerate the Associate Professor and Professor inauguration. Such efforts aim to encourage further attempts to establish FEB UNS as a more advanced faculty and create many excellent professors to strengthen the faculty rankings nationally and internationally.

Meanwhile, Dr. Atmaji, M.M., in his activity report, reported that the 2022 Reunion Meeting with FEB UNS Senior academic members was the third agenda. Previously, the team paid a friendly visit to the family home of the FEB UNS founder on Wednesday (2/23/2022) and a tomb pilgrimage on Friday (3/4/2022). The events organized were hosted in cooperation with the FEB UNS alumni.

FEB UNS also presented a special gift by capturing the names of the faculty founders as the name of the Faculty building. This decision will create a FEB UNS that will never forget the Faculty founding fathers’ history and their important roles. The five names include Soeharno T.S. for Building I, Djarwanto P.S. for Building II, Suhardi for Building III, Bachtiar Effendi for Building IV, and Soedarah Soepono for Building V FEB UNS.

“The naming of the building has been officially stated in the UNS Rector Decree No 12/UN27/HK/2022 dated January 4, 2022, concerning the Naming of the Building in the Universitas Sebelas Maret Environment in 2022,” Atmaji explained. Humas UNS

In his opening remark, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, stated that the inauguration ceremony aims to unite UNS alumni. “The power of synergy, collaboration, solidarity UNS as almamater with its alumni is proved to be a vital pillar in UNS success in achieving its vision and mission to be public university (PTN) as a World Class University,” Prof. Jamal explained.

Prof. Jamal hoped that the synergy built between UNS and IKA UNS could create a commitment and contribution in supporting UNS to achieve a national and international reputation.

“We just received an update that UNS is the only public university in Indonesia included in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2022. Thus, let us pray together that the home for more than 40,000 students and more than 125,000 alumni will contribute to the development of the nation and the country,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The new Chairman of IKA UNS, Ir. Budi Harto, M.M., stated that IKA UNS management 2021 – 2024 consists of five units. Alumni Deliberation and Advisory Council (MPPA), Advisory Board, Board of Experts, Supervisory Board, and Administrator. The Administrator consists of nine divisions: Organization, Alumni Data, Public Relations and Media, Community, Alumni and Almamater, Young Alumni, Legal Advocation, Health Action and Advocation, and Alumni Development and Specialization.

“There are two new divisions under the Administrator, the Health Action and Advocation, and Young Alumni. The Health Action and Advocation is established due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Young Alumni division is established to encourage young and senior alumni to build synergy,” Ir. Budi Harto, the President Director of PT. Hutama Karya explained. Ir. Budi Harto hoped that the Alumni and Almamater also build a synergy to support the campus through various collaborations to achieve the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) UNS.

The Secretary-General (Sekjen) IKA UNS, Drs. Bambang Dwi Wahyudi added that the managers of IKA UNS 2021 – 2024 went through a tight screening to include UNS’ best alumni. Humas UNS
