Siti Samsiyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., Headmaster of SDN Kleco 2 and Ririn Dwi Utami, S.P., S.Pd, Guru Penggerak (Proactive Teacher) SD Takmirul Islam Surakarta were invited as speakers in the national webinar. In her material, Ririn Dwi Utami stated that a proactive teacher is the leader of the learning process who encourages their student’s development holistically, actively, and proactively.

“This (step) aims to develop the education through student-centered learning, to be an example, and to be an agent of transformation for the educational ecosystem in achieving Profil Pelajar Pancasila,” she explained.

She added that the proactive teacher program aims to create a new paradigm for education leaders in Indonesia. Four components could be emphasized from this objective.

“First, the student-centered paradigm. Then encourage a holistic education and become a coach or mentor for other teachers. Lastly, to be an example and agent of transformation for the educational ecosystem,” Ririn added.

Siti Samsiyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that a proactive school is a school that is focused on the development of students’ learning outcomes holistically by achieving Profil Pelajar Pancasila, including competencies and characters of leading human resources, both the headmaster and the teachers.

“The last depiction of the proactive school includes learning outcomes above the expected level. Followed by a safe, comfortable, inclusive, and exciting learning environment that focuses on students. The proactive school program will accelerate all stages to move one to two steps forwards in three years,” Siti explained.

A proactive school program consists of five interrelated and inseparable interventions: consultative and asymmetric assistance, school human resources strengthening, learning under a new paradigm, data-based planning, and school digitization. Humas UNS

In the competition participated by 23 universities in Indonesia, Alwannuha Fatah and Mutiara Hana went through a long journey before they were selected as the Best Ten in the competition.

“From registration process and announcement, from all applicants, the Best Ten was selected to go to the next round, presentation with three juries from professional and academia,” Alwannuha Fatah stated to uns.ac.id team on Friday (31/12/2021).

Alwannuha Fatah and Mutiara Hana submitted work on Smart Container Isolation (SCI) design for Covid-19 patients isolation room equipped with facilities needed by people undergo a self-quarantine.

“The concept is creating Covid-19 isolation room using a container for the self-quarantine process. SCI design is equipped with facilities and air conditioning engineering adapted to the pandemic conditions at that time,” Alwannuha Fatah explained.

Alwannuha Fatah and Mutiara Hana explained that they were inspired by their concern over the Covid-19 pandemic that still occurs globally. They also often heard complaints from people undergoing self-quarantine that the Team understands these people’s concerns.

After being announced as the winner, both Alwannuha Fatah and Mutiara Hana admitted that they did not expect the result, but they were delighted and grateful for it. They also wanted to take more opportunities and develop their potential in the future.

“Hopefully, in the future, we could maximize the existing opportunity and improve self-potential and others,” Alwannuha Fatah concluded. Humas UNS

In his speech, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Sc., as the Dean of FKIP UNS, emphasized the importance of studying technological advances in this era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The Covid-19 pandemic requires all parties to take advantage of technology, including various learning activities. He also conveys the hope for student and lecturer exchanges between FKIP UNS and UPSI. “It will be great if the younger students can learn directly. Thus, you will learn not only the science but also the culture in Malaysia. I think students can also learn various good practices in Malaysia directly,” said Dr. Mardiyana, Tuesday (12/21/2021).

The event continued with the presentation by Dr. Mazarul Hasan. Who delivers the important role of technology in increasing student understanding during learning activities. The presence of technology certainly attracts students’ interest in learning. Various kinds of technology-based learning features provide a different learning experience for students. Technology opens students’ critical thinking regarding the latest ways of delivering education. Another advantage offered is the implementation of a more flexible learning time.

In building digital-based learning, Dr. Mazarul Hasan encourages all teaching and learning actors to take advantage of various educational forms offered by available applications. In Malaysia, several applications such as Google Classroom, Schoology, Edmodo, and many others are commonly used as a means of teaching and learning activities. The framework for digital-based learning also needs to be adjusted. This effort is taken to attract students’ interest in learning.

There are two main challenges faced in implementing digital learning activities, namely technical skills, and attitude change. Technical problems can be minimized by providing adequate digital-based learning facilities and infrastructure. “The most difficult obstacle for the implementation of digital learning in schools is related to the students’ ability. Because, in Malaysia, not all parents can provide facilities for their children,” explained Dr. Mazarul Hasan.

The next challenge is students’ attitudes tranformation related to the adaptation process. Adaptation to the use of technology require considerable period for each person. According to Dr. Mazarul Hasan, not everyone can quickly adapt, even though the supporting facilities provided are available.

Dr. Mazarul Hasan closed his presentation by encouraging studies concerning the use of technology in learning activities. This is because the education norms have changed with the implementation of technology. Humas UNS
