Arif Misbahul M., S.T., MBM., the President of International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Taiwan-Indonesia, was invited to the talk show as a speaker. The talk show was opened by Dr. Titis Srimuda Pitana, S.T., M.Trop., Arch., as Vice-Dean for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs FT UNS, who appreciated the talk show.

“This talk show is beneficial for students and FT UNS alumni who want to continue their study in Taiwan,” he mentioned.

The opening remark from Dr. Titis was followed with material from Arif. He stated that there are several collaborations between UNS and Taiwan, including Taiwan Visiting Professor, Taiwan Training/Workshop, and Student Mobility. UNS also often sent students through the Student Mobility program before the pandemic.

“Before the pandemic, we sent students there,” Arif stated.

Further, Arif shared the objective of Taiwan Center Indonesia to prepare Indonesian human resources in facing globalization and disruption era. Arif also explained that Taiwan could be considered as a target for continuing study, such as it is classified as an advanced industrial country, safe, comfortable, affordable tuition fees, friendly community, and good quality of life. Arif also stated that there is a wide career opportunity for foreigners living in Taiwan.

Arif continues with the funding used by students continuing their study in Taiwan, including parents’ subsidies, scholarships, part-time works, and online businesses such as personal shoppers. For undergraduate program selection in Taiwan, there are two options available for Indonesian students, first ICDF Indonesia recommendation facilitated by Taiwan Center Indonesia UNS. International Office Universitas Sebelas Maret (IO UNS) cooperates with ALFALINK held the scholarship socialization in Postgraduate Hall UNS, Tuesday (4/5/2016).  The event presented Imam Santoso as the speaker. Imam Santoso was the awardee of ADS (Australian Development Scholarship), which is now known as AAS (Australian Awards Scholarship). The socialization aimed to socialize about scholarship information for the college students who intend to get higher education abroad.

In the socialization, Imam Santoso enlightened the audience about the various kinds of scholarships based on their degrees such as LPDP and DIKTI. He explained the steps that should be taken for applying the scholarships. “The most important things to do are putting the field of study first, then you may choose the university, and finally complete the requirements needed.” Imam explained. Imam also gave the tips when studying overseas such as how to get part time job, adjust with the weather, and adapt with new environment. Besides arranging the administration documents, the students also have to actively pay attention on the unexpected things that might happen including the high living cost and cultural differences.

The chief of International Office UNS, Taufiq Almakmun emphasized the fact that nowadays the opportunities to get the scholarship for the students in any degrees are getting higher. “The scholarship nowadays are widely available for whoever wants to look for the related information. Therefore, this event aims to give the socialization for you who intends to continue your study.
