This partnership discussion is part of the UKM visiting series to UNS. In this visitation, the UKM entourage was led by Prof. Novel Lyndon. Several UKM lecturers who also participated in the UNS visit were Prof. Dr. Mohd Fuad Mat Jali, Associate. Prof. Dr. Mohd Nor Shahizan Ali, Dr. Zurinah Tahir, Mrs. Lydia, and Mr. Jamalulail.

The entourage from UKM was welcomed by the Head of UPT KLI UNS, Rino Ardhian Nugroho, S.Sos., M.T.I., Ph.D.; Coordinator of the Asia and Middle East Region, Dr. Anif Jamaluddin; and European and African Region Coordinator, Dimas Rahadian, Ph.D. Moreover, the Head of UPT KLI UNS also invited representatives of the Office of International Affairs (KUI) from various universities in Surakarta City. Six KUI representatives attended the discussion, including the Institute of Indonesian Arts (ISI) Surakarta, Polytechnic Indonusa Surakarta, Universitas Slamet Riyadi, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Surakarta, Universitas Setia Budi Surakarta, and Universitas Duta Bangsa.

In his remarks, Dr. Rino said he invited KUI from other universities in Surakarta to foster collaboration between institutions. Rino added that the current condition demands collaboration from various institutions. “Hopefully, in the future, there will be more collaborations related to international partnership or international mobility, thus, we can work together in one region,” Rino said.

Prof. Novel Lyndon appreciated the presence of KUI representatives from various universities in Surakarta from a UKM. Prof. Novel is thrilled because many representatives attended the discussion, thus, the collaboration established later can reach a wider community. Further, Prof. Novel conveys their purpose of visit, which is to offer various models for further study and research available in UKM. “We came here to offer one study model in UKM. Firstly, for Postgraduate and Doctoral study models, this model is crucial because the main objective is to facilitate the lecturers who work and live in Solo. They don’t have to go to Malaysia, but they can stay and work here in Solo,” explained Prof. Novel.

Lecturers who will later continue their studies at UKM do not need to stay full-time in Malaysia. UKM will be conducting a lecture at the host university in Solo. Thus, lecturers who pursue further study at UKM only need to go to the UKM for a few weeks or months to do research.

The proposed partnership is also related to research activity collaboration, where UKM invites UNS to conduct research collaboration. Later, the research result can be published in various reputable journals. This research collaboration is expected to improve the university’s ranking in both UNS and UKM. In his remarks, the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Sajidan, accompanied by the Head of UPT KLI, Rino Ardhian Nugroho, Ph.D., expressed his appreciation to the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, who takes the initiative for proposing Eazy Passport service to UNS. “The Eazy Passport service will facilitate the UNS Academic members during a passport application and renewal process,” explained Prof. Sajidan.

Prof. Sajidan added that the service is excellent to provide immigration services for the UNS Academic Members, including international students studying at UNS. “Through the Eazy Passport service, hopefully, the management process can be faster and more effective,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, Dwi Anandita Hari Wibowo, MH., said that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic had limited all aspects of life. The community members as passport applicants also have concerns regarding the need to go to the immigration office to apply for a new passport or replacement for an expired passport.

“This Eazy Passport service innovation is a convenience of services carried out outside the immigration office. Thus, the public does not need to apply for queue registration online through the Online Passport Queue (APAPO) application. This Eazy Passport service is a form of our determination to provide excellent service to the community, especially to the UNS Academic Members,” said Dwi Anandita.

Dwi Anandita hopes that the Eazy Passport service located at UPT KLI UNS can increase service satisfaction for the community, especially the UNS Academic Members.

Moreover, it turns out that the public’s interest in using the Eazy Passport Service is very high. A total of 95 people used the Eazy Passport Service at UPT KLI UNS to either apply for a new passport or extend their passport’s validity period. Humas UNS

The Head of Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, Dwi Anandita Hari Wibowo, MH., said that the implementation of the Immigration Corner at UNS was part of the innovation made by the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office to get closer to the community, especially the UNS Academic Members. “With the establishment of the Immigration Corner, we provide immigration information facilities, public service consultations, and provision of immigration public services, including immigration services for international students studying at UNS,” explained Dwi Anandita.

The initiative of the Immigration Corner is part of the efforts taken by the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office to continuously provide excellent service to the community in order to support the development of an integrity zone towards a Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Area (WBBM). “We also wish the prayers and supports for us to achieve WBBM in 2021. Hopefully, the Immigration Corner at UNS can be realized immediately and can be beneficial in providing immigration services, especially for the entire UNS Academic members,” he hoped.

Meanwhile, Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan, hopes that the partnership between UPT KLI UNS and the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office can be adequately implemented. “The first aspect of the partnership is related to the establishment of an Immigration Corner at the UPT KLI UNS as a form of international service collaboration in the form of immigration service provision for the UNS Academic Members. This effort aims to facilitate passport issuance and renewal service,” said Prof. Sajidan.

Secondly, this partnership agreement between UPT KLI UNS and the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office also opens up opportunities for the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program, especially for students from the Faculty of Law (FH) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). Hence, the students in FH and FISIP can carry out internships or professional practices at the Surakarta Class 1 Immigration Office, where various real immigration cases can be studied properly to provide the most suitable solutions.
