“Coordination through five WhatsApp groups, thus after we share, the information will spread. BPBD also distributed HT (handy talky); thus, we always inform when there are pyroclastic flows,” Yadi explained.

The Center for Vulcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) also prepared Mount Semeru disaster maps and areas that are safe from the disaster.

“There is an update on vulnerable areas, where does the volcanic material reach. On 1 December 2020, there was also an eruption, but the material only filled the Besuk Kobokan river.
UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Technical University of Crete (TUC) Greece on Monday (22/11/2021). This collaboration will expand university networking on the global stage. The MoU was signed through an online ceremony by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., and Rector of TUC Prof. Evan Diamadopoulos.

In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho shared his delight at the collaboration between UNS and TUC. He mentioned that UNS is fully aware of the importance of building partnerships with international higher education institutions in this globalization era. The collaboration between UNS and TUC will cover student and faculty exchange and expansion of research and innovation. These programs are expected to bring a positive impact in improving the educational quality for UNS students to achieve international standards. The expansion of research and innovation is also expected to improve research outputs from both universities.

“That’s why we respect your willingness to build a mutual partnership with our university,” Prof. Jamal stated.

Prof. Diamadopoulos also shared his appreciation for the collaboration between UNS and TUC. This collaboration, according to him, will also bring a positive encouragement for TUC because currently, TUC is moving forward to be one of the top universities in Greece.

“So, it is important for us to continue all kinds of collaboration with other universities. Because we need to enrich all cultural life, we enrich all academic life. And we find an opportunity to be accepted here. So, we are delighted to sign this agreement,” Prof. Diamadopoulos stated.

The signing ceremony was also attended online by the Ad Interim Charge d’Affaires (KUAI) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Ahmad Ramadhan accompanied by Head of Chancellery and PF Pensosbud Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Athena. Besides sharing their appreciation for the strong commitment from both parties, although constrained by the Covid-19 pandemic situation, KUAI RI Athena hoped that the collaboration could improve people-to-people contacts RI-Greece further.

“For your information, this agreement, according to the embassy record, is the fourth university agreement between Indonesia and Greece,” Ahmad Ramadhan explained.

Ahmad Ramadhan and other KBRI Athens rank stated their support in the plans and implementation of the agreement. He also congratulated UNS and TUC.
UNS — Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Ahmad Yunus asked Indonesian people to be careful in responding to the digitalization trend because strict retention under the excuse of protecting local wisdom could bring counterproductive results without wise responses.

The Vice-Rector emphasized that the digitalization trend amid the Covid-19 pandemic is unavoidable development for the community because people will seek a quick, practical, and efficient way of life. Therefore digitalization will become a need, and with the support from modern technology, it will fasten the globalization process. This observation was shared by Prof. Ahmad Yunus as a speaker in the “Local Wisdom Value Existence in the Digital Transformation Process” webinar broadcasted through the MASTEL TV YouTube on Wednesday (6/10/2021).

“Information Technology has become one of the vital instruments for people to achieve their life objectives. Thus, affecting their actions and lifestyle,” he stated.

Prof. Ahmad Yunus stated that even though the digitalization trend is unavoidable, there are several concerns about the possibility of disturbing local wisdom and national unity. For example, the changes in perspectives, culture, traditions, and lifestyles of millennial society, cyberbullying, hate speech, hoaxes, and the spread of radicalism. These concerns could pose a serious threat if the community was not equipped with knowledge on digital literacy. He added that the concerns over digitalization have a negative impact on Indonesia, according to the report published by IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2020.
