Wedangan IKA UNS discusses special themes; for example, not long ago, the meeting discussed the alumni’s success in being entrepreneurs, and now Wedangan IKA UNS provided a platform for the young alumni or “Alumni Millennials.” The stage for millennial alumni entered the 4^th round on Wednesday (24/11/2021). The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, also attended the event online and welcomed the millennials alumni who will share their experiences.

“We are proud, happy with our young alumni who have excellent talents both at the regional and national level. I saw that the five young speakers tried to perform breakthrough. They do not depend on becoming state apparatus,” Prof. Jamal stated.

Further, Prof. Jamal emphasized that alumni involvement is one of the crucial matters in the university’s performance assessment because it is strongly related to alumni absorption in the working world.

“We all know that Kemdikbudristek asked all universities to achieve certain performance set by Kemdikbudristek with 8 Key Performance Indicators (IKU). The first IKU is related to this event, the number of undergraduate and diploma program graduates that achieve three indicators,” Prof. Jamal added.

The three indicators are the number of undergraduate and diploma program graduates who are employed, continuing study, and becoming entrepreneurs. Prof. Jamal hoped that Wedangan IKA UNS could inspire UNS students to follow the successful alumni’s steps.

The Wedangan Series ke-85, IKA UNS invited five millennial alumni from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA): Andi Dharmawan, S.Si. (Corporation Research Expert PT. Pama Persada Nusantara), Rahmat Jaya Eka Syahputra, S.Si. (Project Manager Indonesia Mengajar), Sudigdyo Suryo Pamungkas, S.Si. (Technical Inter Training Kondo, Kabushikigaisha, Japan), Lingga Aji Andika, S.Si. (Data Analyst in the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappeda), and Angga Dwituti Lestari (Master Program Graduate from the Netherlands). Humas UNS

On the Wednesday night event (21/7/2021), Prof. Wimboh states that “Specifically for OJK, including associations, we have registered numerous companies to its respective affiliated bank to be reported to get vaccines allocation from the Minister of Health, and finally get reported to the President.”

Even though, the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that Indonesia can only reach herd immunity in 2022. However, Prof. Wimboh states that the President of RI Joko Widodo is determined to reach herd immunity in 2021. This can be achieved through collaborative Covid-19 vaccination like the one conducted by TNI and Polri. “The President wishes to speed up the distribution of 1.5-2 million vaccines through various channels. It will be difficult for the government to achieve this alone. Currently, it is difficult to distribute the vaccines to the community. Hence, the government synergizes all aspects of the stakeholders and regional government,” Prof. Wimboh states.

This became a special challenge for the government, this was aggravated with the challenge in Covid-19 handling. On the other hand, the average vaccination rate and the vaccination speed across Indonesia are uneven. Moreover, the 208.3 vaccination target can only be achieved if the daily vaccination rate reaches 1.4 million doses daily. “The synergy at all levels of community is needed, starting from the university, essential economics sectors, critical economic sector, and non-essential economics sector. Universities are welcomed, the link to get vaccines is no longer a difficult matter, as long as you have an identification card, you can organize a collective vaccination and get free vaccine allocation,” he concluded.

In front of the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Chairman of IKA UNS Ir. Budi Harto, and the other attending participants, Prof. Wimboh reminded the participants that to achieve herd immunity, they must strengthen body immunity by exercising regularly, consuming healthy food, and vitamins. All those efforts must be completed by implementing strict health protocols, wearing masks, washing hands, and avoiding crowds. Prof. Wimboh adds that the community and companies should understand the importance of 3T, namely, tracing, testing, and treatment. The three items are the keys to reducing the SARS-CoV-2 transmissions, which recently soaring drastically.

“This is why the government will go all out to the point of establishing emergency hospitals. All institutions, communities, and entrepreneurs must follow the tracing mechanism when they tested positive for Covid-1. This protocol is the most people forget. In OJK, all staff is PCR tested. If there are any staff whose test returned a positive result, they must undergo self-isolation, and their current dirrect contact will be tracked,” Prof. Wimboh added. Humas UNS

(Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia), Dr. Ir. Hariyadi BS Sukamdani, M.M. (Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association), Lukman Hakim, Ph.D. (Faculty of Economics and Business UNS Faculty Member), and Drs. Harijanto (businessman) led by Sofie Syarief (News Anchor Kompas TV) as the moderator. The alumni were discussing the “Economic Recovery amid the Pandemic” through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform. This special edition of Wedangan IKA UNS was also attended by the Chairman of IKA UNS, Ir. Budi Harto, M.M.

“We all understand that the Covid-19 effect hit our economy. Therefore, our speakers today are invited to discuss and deliver information updates on the economy amid the pandemic in this forum. Our speakers are economic actors at governmental, private, and academic institutions. Thus, our sharing tonight will be exciting,” Ir. Budi stated.

On this occasion, Ir. Budi also appreciated the IKA UNS performance that always has a high spirit to hold Wedangan IKA. This year Wedangan IKA UNS has been held weekly for six months.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, also attended the Wedangan IKA UNS special edition and agreed with Ir. Budi that the topic is vital to be discussed.

“Covid has disturbed all parts of our life. In health, religious, cultural, and economic fields. Today speakers are the experts in this field. Thus, they will discuss how to recover Indonesia’s economy in 2021 amid the pandemic,” Prof. Jamal stated.

More than 200 participants joined the Zoom session to listen and discuss the economic issues amid the pandemic. They showed high enthusiasm, which is easily noted from the more two hours discussion session. Humas UNS
