The “Female Professors’ Works for Indonesia” talkshow was held on Wednesday (22/12/2021) in an offline meeting in Postgraduate Building 6th floor and broadcasted through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform and UNS Board of Professor YouTube channel.
Eleven female professors were invited to the event led by the Chairman of Board of Professor UNS, Prof. Drs. Suranto, M.Sc.,Ph.D. They are Prof. Dr. Wiedy Murtini, Prof. Dr. Izza Mafruhah, Prof. Dr. Siswandari, Prof. Dr. MTH. Sri Budiastuti, Prof. dr. Ari N. Probandari, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Chatarina Muryani, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu KRH, Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, Prof. Dr. Hartiwiningsih, Prof. Dr. Suciati, and Prof. Dr. Susy Susmartini. Prof. Dr. Sri Sulistyowati, dr., Sp.OG(K) also attended the event online, with the Chief of Srikandi BNI Surakarta Branch, Ita Jaya Puspitarini, also joined the talkshow.
The professors take a turn in answering question by question from the moderator on their role in the family and in the campus and the meaning of Mother’s Day. Although they shared a different perspective on the matter, they are agreed that being a career mother is not an easy duty. They were demanded to have enough energy, thoughts, sincerity, and patience to align their role at home and in the academic field.
Prof. Wiedy, a Professor in Economic Education, stated that Mother’s Day is a moment for them to self-evaluate. She stated that she always asks her children how was her role as a mother at home; is it good enough? “I define Mother’s Day as self-evaluation on our multi-roles. Have we implemented our role well as a mother, teacher, friend for our children, and partner of husband? Every Mother’s Day, I always contemplate about that,” Prof. Wiedy stated.
Prof. Siswandari, shared that her position as Professor and Chief of Institute for School Principal Development and Empowerment (LPPKS) Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) often makes her move from to four different provinces in a day. However, despite their busy schedule, one of the invited professors, Prof. Izza Mafruhah, stated that she made time to cook for her children. Prof. Izza also made time to accompany their children before their sleep with Al Qur’an recitation. “Then teach them to dream and wake up to achieve that dream,” the Professor in Development Economic stated.
Mother’s Day is also defined as momentum to remind them of role equality between women and men—the Head of Doctoral Program in Community Health UNS, Prof. dr. Ari N. Probandari, Ph.D., stated that Mother’s Day reminds them that women need to perform their role with a man in building the nation and the state, the institution, and family. “Women besides as the first educator also create a healthy generation for bright future,” Prof. Ari stated.
Mother’s Day has different meanings for each mother and woman. This moment also cheers on mothers to continue performing their roles in their respective disciplines. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and women in Indonesia. Humas UNS
