UNS — At the end of July, the Alumni Association (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received an ambulance grant for the IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19 Program to assist in Covid-19 pandemic handling. The ambulance is available to transport Covid-19 patients to the hospital or deliver a deceased patient to their final resting place.
In an interview with uns.ac.id on Friday (6/8/2021), the Person in Charge (PiC) for patient transport IKA UNS volunteer, Handoko, stated that the ambulance is available for the community under the following procedure:
1. The family should have a referral from a doctor or community healthcare service
2. After receiving the referral, the family should ensure that there is available room in the target hospital to avoid uncertainty for the patient
3. Family contacted Call Center IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19 volunteer in 081377770144 (WhatsApp)
4. Call center will provide further information on the availability of ambulances in the specified time
5. If the ambulance is available, it will drive directly to the patient’s address
For an emergency, the family could contact Handoko directly at 082266474160 and 085642244880.
“If it is urgent, for example, for the critical patient, we will pick directly, when family contact, we will ask share location to the house. For emergency cases, we do not need a referral. We will find the target hospital; there are two hospitals, Dr. Moewardi and Bung Karno hospital,” he explained.
Handoko added that the volunteers are available 24 hours a day. “We are ready 24 hours a day, as long as we are connected or not fall asleep. We are ready to pick and transport patient. Usually, we are staying at Timur Bonoloyo, Pucangsawit, and behind Brayat Hospital,” he added.
IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19 volunteers are also ready to bring passed away patients to their final resting place under the following procedure:
1. Family members ensure that the hospital allows external ambulance to deliver patient
2. After ensuring the permit, the family member could contract IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19 volunteer through the call center
3. The body is ready to be picked up with supervision from a family member
“To bring deceased patient, we need to communicate with the hospital if they allow an external ambulance to do the transport. This is important because we do not want to go there and found out that we couldn’t bring the body. The family member should accompany us. For example, to Sragen, Sukoharjo, or wherever, the family should come with the volunteers,” Handoko explained.
All of these services are free of charge because IKA UNS bears all costs. Further information on the procedure can be accessed from call center IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19 volunteer in 081377770144 or come to the secretariat at Griya Segaran, Jalan K. S Tubun No 31, Manahan, Surakarta. Humas UNS
