UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, considers the need for strengthening the Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP). The objective is to reinforce BPIP as an active and authoritative institution in carrying out its duties as the formulator of the policy direction in fostering the ideology of Pancasila.
“In the regulation on of Pancasila Ideology Development in Legislation, we hope that it regulates all matters that are institutionally strengthening, thus BPIP can take a more active and authoritative role,” Prof. Jamal commented during ‘Titik Pandang’ program in Kompas Tv, Friday (10/7/2020).
The BPIP that was established on February 28th, 2018, through President Regulation No. 7 of 2018, is mandated with a myriad of heavy tasks. Among the other tasks are coordinating, synchronization, controlling the development of the ideology of Pancasila as a whole, and continuous effort, as well as providing recommendations based on the study toward policy or regulation that contrasting the Pancasila value to the high state institutions.
Prof. Jamal who also serves as the Chairman of The Council of Rector of Indonesian State University (CRISU), considers that the problem in this digital era is mainly because not all members of society, especially the young generation, understand the implementation of Pancasila in a whole within the daily life.
Even though BPIP has implemented its task, its role is considered not optimal. Prof. Jamal considers that the establishment of BPIP at least can be the answer for the silting up of Pancasila values in the society post-reformation.
“BPIP as the institution should provide insights to the community regarding the importance of Pancasila value implementation in the social and national living,” Prof. Jamal claims.
Prof. Jamal opines that BPIP should be regulated in Legislation. This as a response to the speed of world change, especially social change in Indonesia. Humas UNS
