UNS — The 47th Dies Natalis of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was commemorated with various activities. As of Friday morning (3/3/2023), around 3,000 UNS academics took part in joint aerobics at the UNS Stadium. The activity was opened with a special Dies Natalis flash mob for 3 minutes, then continued with core exercises. After that, all participants were invited to take a healthy walk from the stadium to the courtyard of the UNS Rectorate Building, crossing several faculties within the campus environment.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, symbolically released thousands of participants to start a healthy walk at 07.25 WIB. He also joined the forefront of health walk activities. Arriving at the courtyard of the UNS Rectorate Building, all participants took a break while enjoying the snacks that had been provided.

In his remarks, Prof. Jamal expressed his happiness because this year he could celebrate the Dies Natalis offline. “This year feels special because this time we are trying to open Dies Natalis activities offline or face-to-face. We hope that as UNS gets older, we will gain an understanding and know UNS’ progress,” Prof. Jamal explained.

Interestingly, this event also coincided with the “Emission Free Day” program. The program invites all UNS academics not to use motorized vehicles on campus, which is scheduled for the first and third Friday of every month. “This gymnastics and healthy walks activity coincides with Zero Emissions Day at UNS and is also followed by other environmentally friendly activities. There are several parked cars, all of them are electric cars or those that use non-gasoline or diesel fuel,” he said.

Prof. Jamal wants the activities carried out on campus to develop UNS better in the future. In addition, he also thanked all parties who attended and enlivened the aerobics and healthy walking agenda. “To close my remarks, I read a poem for all of you. Makan roti diolesi mentega (Eat bread spread with butter). Akan terasa nikmat jika dipanggang (It will taste delicious if it is baked). Dirgahayu UNS-ku tercinta (Long-live my beloved UNS). Semoga UNS terus tumbuh dan berkembang (Hopefully UNS will continue to grow and develop),” Prof. Jamal concluded, and was met with applause from all UNS community members in attendance. Humas UNS
