UNS — Another national-level achievement was accomplished by Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta student. Three Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) won 1st place in the national poster competition. These students are Marenda Athallah Faras Majid from the International Relations Program, Ilman Abdurahman from Communication Science Program, and Gibran Aulia Muhammad from Communication Science Program.
The competition was held by Student Association (UKM) on Korps Suka Rela (KSR) (Volunteering) PMI Universitas Indraprasta PGRI (Unindra) Jakarta. This competition was held online on 25 July-11 August to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of Indonesia under Patriotism amid the Pandemic theme.
Marenda Athallah mentioned that their motivation to participate in this competition based on their comprehension and awareness of the crucial role of graphic design development in the modern era, especially posters. The numbers of posters in social media and conventional ones are the alternatives to deliver messages in educating the community effectively. “Poster is an alternative to educate the community effectively because the message delivered is the main message supported by exciting graphics,” Marenda explained on Friday (20/8/2021).
FISIP UNS Team submitted a poster entitled Nakes Pahlawan Tak Takut Mati (Healthcare Worker as Heroes who Does not Afraid to Die). Marendra mentioned that there are 23 universities from eight provinces participated in the competition, including Universitas Udayana Bali, Universitas Diponegoro Semarang, Universitas Gajah Mada Yogyakarta, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya, UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Gunadarma Jakarta, Politeknik Astra, Universitas Sultan Agung Tirtayasa, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Institut Seni Budaya Bandung, Universitas Pendidikan Jakarta, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, UIN Jakarta, Universitas Telkom Jakarta, Universitas Wiralodra, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Institut Bisnis dan Informatika Kosgoro, and Univeritas Indraprasta PGRI.
The selection and announcement process was conducted online through jury assessment for 1st and 2nd winners and seven Best Works. The selection for the favorite poster was conducted through voting for the most liked poster through the @ksrpmiunindra Instagram account.
Marendra hoped that his participation in this poster competition could increase nationalism spirits in the young generation amid the pandemic. Humas UNS
