UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students have made another achievement at the national level. They are Muhammad Shokhiful Wafa Arya Wida Sena, Muhammad Iqbal Albashiry, and Maudy Purnamasari from the Medicine Education Study Program (Prodi) of the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS. The three FK students just won 1st place in a national public poster competition entitled
Somatic: Sudirman Medical Scientific Competition 2021 organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Universitas Jendral Sudirman (Unsoed). When interviewed by uns.ac.id, Sena said that the poster was prepared with the theme of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“This poster creation aims to provide educational information, preventing community misinformation, and encouraging them to participate in vaccinations. The poster provides information regarding the definition of a vaccine, the prevalence of vaccine coverage and its effectiveness, the mechanism by which the Covid-19 vaccination can induce immunity, the benefits of the Covid-19 vaccination, and reminders of what to do after vaccination,” explained Sena, Saturday (8/1/2022).
The poster was encouraged by the public concern about getting vaccinated against Covid-19. “Then there are also hoaxes circulating in the community, such as vaccination is just a reason for implanted chips or others. Thus, we tried to straighten the facts through this poster. Coincidentally there was a competition with a similar theme; thus, we made it happen,” he added.
In the competition that lasted from September 25 to December 5, 2021, Sena and his team managed to beat numerous participants from various universities. The selection assessment began with works submission and public voting through Instagram, with 11 teams participating.
“We were surprised and thrilled because this is our first poster competition. Therefore, we are working really hard, requesting suggestions from our expert friends to support our material and advice for the areas of improvement. Hopefully, in the future, we can create more, not only on posters but also in other fields,” concluded Sena. Humas UNS
