UNS — Karisma Evi Tiarani broke the athletic paralimpiade record in 100 meter T42. In the final match at National Stadium Tokyo, Saturday (4/9/2021), Evi, who is a student of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, succeeded with 14.83 seconds. However, she must admit the excellence of the three Italian runners, as she finished in fourth place. However, her time record is exactly the same as her previous record during the 2nd heat of the first qualifying, where she finished in second place.
In the final match, the gold medal was won by Ambra Sabatini, who broke the world record in 100 meters athletic T63 with 14.11 seconds. The silver medal went to Martina Caironi with 14.46 seconds, and Monica Graziana Contrafatto won the bronze medal with 14.73 seconds.
Even though Evi has not been able to win a medal in the biggest disability sports championship, but she has delivered a wonderful and stunning performance. She became the only sprinter in the T42 class during the final match and broke the Paralympian record. The student of the Communication Science Study Program class of 2021 has won the title of World Champion in 2019 and won the 2018 Asian Para Games gold medal.
On the finish line, Evi was slipped and fell because of the rain pouring on the stadium before the final match started. Hopefully, Evi’s appearance in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics can inspire all UNS students and Indonesian residents.
“Imperfection is the perfection of a human being because there is no human is perfect. Don’t let your imperfection become a hindrance to reach your dream,” said Evi in an interview with the uns.ac.id. Humas UNS
