UNS— Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta once again held its graduation ceremony. The graduation for the 3rd period of 2024 was held at the G.P.H Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Saturday (23/3/2024). During this period, the Acting Rector of UNS, Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H., conferred degrees upon 580 graduates, consisting of 18 doctoral graduates, 106 master’s graduates, 7 specialist medical education graduates, 407 bachelor’s graduates, 10 Diploma IV graduates, and 32 Diploma III graduates.

In her remarks, Dr. Chatarina motivated the graduates to pursue their dreams. She reminded them that Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and cumlaude honors are not the main determinants of success, but rather the character possessed by the graduates.

“Realize the beautiful dreams that you had when you first stepped into college. However, the high CGPA achieved, including academic degrees and cum laude honors, as a measure of intellectual intelligence, does not guarantee success. Your success will also be determined by the emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, and social intelligence that shape your best character, which will lead you to success, namely being beneficial to others and the country,” Dr. Chatarina emphasized.

Dr. Chatarina also urged the graduates to become intellectuals for the nation and the state to realize Indonesia Emas 2045.

“Be resilient individuals who do not easily give up and always be learners because the nation is awaiting the presence of resilient young intellectuals who are extraordinary in their work,” she added.

Dr. Chatarina then reminded the graduates to express gratitude to everyone, especially to their parents, who have helped and prayed for them to graduate and be conferred today.

“Be grateful to your parents, families, and all other parties, including lecturers and educational staff, who have assisted and prayed for you to be able to graduate and be conferred today. Especially for parents, it’s not just words but also repaying their love with hard work, attention, and prayers. Make them proud of you. Believe that the pride of your parents and the prayers from them and your family will illuminate and strengthen you in facing challenges towards future success,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, in his report, representing the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., as the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information of UNS, he mentioned that out of 580 graduates, there were 191 graduates with cum laude honors.
