UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, deployed UNS athletes who will compete at the 2021 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua. The ceremony took place on Wednesday (22/9/2021) in Meeting Room 1, Dr. Prakosa Building UNS. A total of nine UNS students will compete in the four-year national sports championship representing Central Java (Central Java).
The representative of Central Java from UNS will compete from October 2 to October 15 on the Land of Cenderawasih (Bird-of-Paradise), Papua. The deployment of the contingent was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta, the Manager of Pencak Silat Section for Central Java KONI, who is also serving as the Head of the Sports Coaching Education Study Program (Penkepor), Dr. Haris Nugroho, and Head of the Student Affairs and Academic Bureau, Drs. Rohman Agus Pratomo.
In his speech, Dr. Haris states that there were nine athletes from UNS who will represent Central Java in the Papua PON. In addition, the contingent includes one sparring staff, namely Ananda Eka Ramadhan from the Master Program in Sports Science and the Section Manager of Pencak Silat for the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) in Central Java, Dr. Haris.
“Thank you for the warm reception and welcome from the UNS academic community. We wish for your blessing and support for us to contribute and win the highest medal for Central Java and UNS. Hopefully, there will be many UNS athletes who excel both in the national and international arenas,” said Dr. Haris.
Meanwhile, Prof. Jamal also advised that this PON 2021 can be the means to accomplish achievements. “Actually, not only these nine athletes, there are other UNS athletes who have to represent other KONIs. We are proud and happy because we can represent Central Java, with the flag of Central Java on the national stage,” said Prof. Jamal. In addition, the Rector of UNS also advised to always maintain health, both in food intake and sleep patterns.
The nine athletes from UNS who will compete in PON Papua 2021 are from three study programs, namely Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PJKR) FKOR, Sports Coaching Education (Penkepor) FKOR, and Demographics and Civil Registration (DPS) Vocational School (SV).
The representing athletes are Adira Kurniawati (PJKR/FKOR) and Yulian Muhammad Adhitama (PJKR/FKOR) for fencing. Agung Wahyudi (PJKR/FKOR) for the triple jump athletics event. Ashifa’ Helsa Ashuroh (PJKR/FKOR) for Diving.
For the pencak silat sport there are three UNS students, namely Nadia Haq Umami Nur Cahyani (Penkepor/FKOR), Zidni Rahma Amaly (Penkepor/FKOR), and Khoirudin Mustakim (Penkepor/PJKR). For Football there are Iskushardianto (PJKR/FKOR) and Fauziyyah Rahma Prastista (DPS/SV). Humas UNS
