UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has earned a total of 746 graduates in Period VI 2023. This batch includes Doctoral, Masters, Specialist Doctor in Medical Education, Bachelor’s, and Diploma programs. The offline graduation ceremony was held on Saturday (26/8/2023) at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium.
The graduates consisted of 21 postgraduate students, 37 from the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), 45 from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), 69 from the Faculty of Law (FH), 88 from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), 36 from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), 42 from the Faculty of Agriculture (FP), 66 from the Faculty of Engineering (FT), 161 from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), 19 from the Faculty of Sports (FKOR), 38 from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), 3 from the Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD), 100 from the Vocational School (SV), 9 from the Faculty of Psychology, and 13 from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., the Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, announced that among these graduates, a total of 503 achieved honors or cum laude status.
Furthermore, Prof. Yunus reported that there were extraordinary achievers among the graduates. The fastest doctoral program graduate was Dr. Fawzan Sigma Aurum from the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences with a study period of 2 years and 4 months. He graduated with a GPA of 3.98. The youngest doctoral program graduate was Dr. Febi Junaidi from the S-3 Indonesian Language Education program, graduating at the age of 32 years and 1 month.
The fastest master’s program graduate was Willy Naresta Hanum, M.H., from the S-2 Law program with a study period of 1 year and 3 months. She graduated with a GPA of 3.97. The youngest master’s program graduate was Siti Damayanti, M.K.M., from the S-2 Public Health Sciences program at the age of 22 years and 11 months.
The fastest bachelor’s program graduate was Adenissa Kurnia Putri, S.Ked., from the Medical program with a study period of 3 years and 6 months. She graduated with a GPA of 3.23. The youngest bachelor’s program graduate was Merynda Shabilla, S.H, from the Law study program, at the age of 20 years and 10 months.
In the Diploma IV level, the fastest graduate was Fujie Risqy Nur Khasanah, S.Tr.Kes., from the D-4 Occupational Health and Safety study program. She graduated with a study period of 3 years and 9 months and a GPA of 3.88. The youngest Diploma IV graduate was Ambar Kharisma Rahmawati, S.Tr.Sos., from the D-4 Demography and Civil Registration study program, graduating at the age of 21 years and 7 months.
At the Diploma III level, the fastest graduate was Wiwid Wahyu Budiasih, A.Md., from the D-3 Taxation study program with a study period of 2 years and 9 months and a GPA of 3.88. Meanwhile, the youngest graduate of the Diploma III program was Dyah Puspita Hati, A.Md., from the D-3 Travel and Tourism program, who graduated at the age of 20.
Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., the Rector of UNS, congratulated and wished success to all the graduates who have successfully completed their studies at various education levels at UNS. He emphasized that academic competence alone is not enough for the present time. The modern age requires individuals who are flexible, adaptive, and highly connected to the outside world. This is what a winner needs to face the challenges of a changing world full of surprises.
“Ojo gumunan (don’t be stunned), Ojo kagetan (don’t be surprised), Ojo dumeh (don’t be confused), and Ojo aleman (don’t be grumbled). This seems to be a philosophy that you must adhere to as you enter the world of work,” Prof. Jamal advised.
He reminded the graduates that their presence in the community should not become a burden. For him, the greatest hope for those who have earned degrees is that the knowledge they have gained can benefit and bring about positive changes among people and their environment. Graduates should be the providers of solutions and enlightenment for the future civilization of the nation.
“I hope for all UNS graduates to be able to discover and create new things in their work so that they can play a role as the main actors of change and progress for the nation,” Prof. Jamal concluded.
