UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, through the Technical Implementation Unit for New Student Admissions (UPT SPMB), forged a collaboration with the Provincial Government of West Sulawesi. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Head of UPT SPMB UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiwiyono, M.Si., and the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi, Prof. Dr. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, S.H., M.H., during the New Student Admission Socialization Program for Postgraduate Programs and other levels by UPT SPMB UNS at the Maleo Mamuju Waterpark, West Sulawesi, on Friday (24/11/2023).

Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiwiyono, M.Si., the Head of UPT SPMB UNS, delivered in his remarks that UNS welcomes the collaboration initiated by the West Sulawesi Provincial Government. Through this collaboration, UNS hopes to contribute to the development of Human Resources (HR) in West Sulawesi.

“We welcome the programs initiated by the West Sulawesi Provincial Government, and we are ready to follow up on this. It is our hope that UNS can participate in the development of HR for the West Sulawesi Province,” Prof. Hadiwiyono stated.

Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi, Prof. Dr. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, S.H., M.H., mentioned that the signing of the collaboration with UNS is an effort to encourage the improvement of qualifications for teachers and students to enhance HR development in West Sulawesi.

“I have a desire for more people in West Sulawesi to pursue master’s and doctoral programs in the top 5 or at least the top 10 national universities,” Prof. Zudan said.

He added that with the collaboration, opportunities will open up for all sons and daughters of West Sulawesi, including civil servants (ASN), students, teachers, and healthcare workers, to pursue higher education.

“Also, for high school and vocational school students to enter the best universities in Indonesia, one of which is UNS. So, I invite UNS to make a collaboration agreement so that more sons and daughters from West Sulawesi can be accepted at UNS, especially for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as for specialist doctors, teachers, school principals, and the general public,” Prof. Zudan added.

The Secretary of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) further stated that in 2024, many sons and daughters of West Sulawesi will be pursuing education at renowned universities like UNS. Especially now, the West Sulawesi Provincial Government has a scholarship development program for all ASNs and the general public.

Various supports are also expected to contribute to HR development in West Sulawesi. He specifically sought support from the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD). He hoped that the DPRD’s Work Plan (Pokir) could be utilized for HR development by providing scholarship programs.

“The hope is that teachers can pursue masters and, if possible, even doctoral degrees so that the quality of education can rapidly improve,” Prof. Zudan said. HUMAS UNS
